    One day you have to make a trip to the Succulent Karoo in Namaqualand southern Africa! So many unique species of succulents, about 15% of the world's total

    Nice to see Greg Starr in habitat. I wish I knew what species of Neobuxbaumia that was. The spineless condition has surprised me, although towards the end of the video the damage shown looks like it's caused by burning exotic grass.

    Whatever those agave are called, they're fantastic. I love that hard-grown, habitat look - such a contrast to my UK grown greenhouse specimens 😆

    Greetings from Australia! Great video. Keep them coming for we that will never get there... Really interesting to see that orchid (Laelia or Encyclia??) growing in such a dry area. I presume is the opposite during the wet season. And the gypsum! oh the gypsum...
    Thanks. I look forward to the next!

    Very interesting Hunter😊🙏Yes, why do the cacti grow biggest on the gypsum? Could it be that seed germinate very easily anywhere, but because the gypsum is difficult for any other plants do the cacti easily grow and can grow bigger? Anyway, please enlighten me on my idea🙏I enjoyed watching buddy🤘😊

    • @CactusQuest
      @CactusQuest Рік тому

      I don’t know that the gypsum causes them to grow large, those columnar Cacti have that programming for tall, gross coded into the genetics. Take the Mammillaria that was growing there. For example, it was quite small, so I really don’t know it’s intriguing to say the least.
