- This video shows Lebanese poachers killing thousands of protected eagles, falcons, buzzards, kites & hawks. In the second half the film focuses on joint operations of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS - Komitee gegen den Vogelmord e.V.), the Anti Poaching Unit (APU) of MESHC (Middle Eastern Sustainable Hunting Centre) together with the Internal Security Forces of Lebanon to stop and arrest the poachers. This year I have had many of my first experiences with many of these western eurasian raptor species- honey buzzards, boots eagles, short toed eagles etc. To think that one of the biggest threat they face during migration is hunters is disgusting. This is not hunting for meat, it is merely a blood sport.
I am at a loss for words and tears well up in my eyes when I see this slaughter. I can't understand these people. I can't fucking understand people who apparently kill animals for fun. I can only implore the Lebanese government to take tough action against the idiots. If people were hungry, maybe I could understand it. But for fun? Never ! I'll never understand it! To all the members of the Committee Against Bird Murder - you are all doing an incredibly great job, I envy you for your calm and objectivity! For me you are modern heroes!

These people are just 100 years behind. That is it. We were doing the same to different species in Europe 100 years ago. Now hopefully slowly is almost disappearing here, but it became strong in Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi and so on...The issue is that in 100 years, even if they keep civilizing as a society we may be out of birds.

Hallo Sybille. Angesichts der aktuellen politischen Lage würde eine Petition gerade wahrscheinlich eher verpuffen. Wichtig ist, dass die Polizei weiterhin zusammen mit unseren Teams und der APU (Anti Poaching Unit) in den Hochburgen der Wilderei präsent ist und dort konsequent durchgreift. Dass die Wilderei durch den Abschreckungseffekt, den selbst wenige Verhaftungen haben, lokal stark zurückgedrängt werden kann, zeigen unsere Erfahrungen im Libanon ganz deutlich.
