Here's my advice: Go to your front (or back) door and call out the names on your list... The name that sounds good and you can hear yourself yellin' for years, is absolutely your #1 baby name!! LoL 💜
My husband insisted our son have his name (he was a Jr, my son is a 3rd). I wasn’t crazy about it but it was so important to him I gave in. Well…my husband passed away when my son was only 11 and while my son still goes by his nickname, he is proud to have his father’s name.
“My boy, Husk” ☠️ we chose to wait until my daughter was born to name her. I’m so glad we did, because she does not match the other names we had picked out! ❤️ love my Rio
Ohhh man, when you guys talked about names that people make stupid repetitive comments about...I can relate. My name is Margarita which in Spanish means Daisy. I am in the US and even even being in a heavily Hispanic populated area I still get ignorant and tasteless comments about the drink. I've gotten them since I was a child and I'm in my 30s now. I work in an office and they never end. "What flavor? Is that what your parents drank when they conceived you? Do you have brothers named Jack or Daniel?" "Or "I'm going to start calling you Tequila!" . In high school I had a biology teacher who took it upon herself to start calling me Theresita because she thought Margarita had an inappropriate connotation. I thought she was just forgetful but when another student asked her why she couldn't remember my name she confessed this horrible reasoning. I don't hate my name. I wish people were more aware . I don't fight it because I feel like it'd be fighting my heritage. But I totally understand the importance of a name and how it can influence the way people perceive you.
Wow! I know a few people named Margarita and I would never. People are so crazy! I have a very common name and there is always a zillion people named the same everywhere I go... school, work, etc. I wouldn't want to be harassed for a more unique name but having such a common name is for the birds also :(
I loved your name as a kid, but decided against it for your very story. Bless your heart, it’s such a gorgeous name with annoying habits attached by ignorant people.
My go to line when explaining a baby name I wasn’t planning to use was, “that’s a beautiful name for someone else’s baby.” I don’t think you should feel bad that you wouldn’t choose names that other people have. My baby girl’s name is Clara (middle name Linden) and it doesn’t hurt my feelings that you decided against it…but it makes me like Grant even more😉
My grandmas name was Clara, so it was on our short list, but it's been becoming very popular as the more "old fashioned" type names come back into style, which is why I didn't choose it. It's such a cute name though I fully understand why people are making it popular again
We named our daughter Vivian and I love the fact that her name starts with a V. Her middle name is Louise so we call her Vivvie Lou, too precious! Congrats on Miss Baby! I am so happy for you guys
Someone else commented that they named their daughter Genevieve Lousie and they call her Vivvie Lou and that's just so interesting to me! I love that for both of your girls, they need to be friends! 😅

Such a good point about a name being “cute”. They won’t always be little and cute. You have to think about a name that lasts for their whole lifetime. A lot of people don’t consider that.
Do you have a time machine? Just need to borrow that and head back about 24 years and talk to my parents about naming me after a Disney character. It’s not cute anymore 🤣🤣
As an Leigh Ashleigh I appreciate your concern for spelling as that is one of the most frustrating parts of my name in particular. I’ve also had a baby name list for as long as I can remember. My fiancé and I have already decided what our first boy and first girl will be, Juniper and John!
Watching you and Grant’s genuine relationship dynamic makes me feel so seen! I am so headstrong and my husband is so mellow. Sometimes him not having strong opinions on things like baby names makes me feel like he cares less, but watching you guys I think it’s so cute! Grateful for you allowing us this glimpse in to your lives in order for us to see our own a little differently (in a positive way)!
So many sweet names! Working in the medical field it's so hard to choose because you can think of so many people with or with the ones drawn toward. We chose Genevieve Louise and call her Vivvy Lou for short. She'll be 2 in October. Can't wait to hear your name reveal when Miss Baby makes her debut! 💜🍪
I don't think a lot of people stop being afraid of birth, it's more anticipation for things to get started is scary. But EVERYONE when things really start going down like it kind of clicks for them ya know? The only way to get through it is to go through it, like a different part of your brain switches on "this is happening".

I love the names you considered and i agree 100% on classic spellings and traditional, feminine names for your girl! We named our daughter Gwindolyn and call her Gwin. The spelling isn’t typical but it’s a family name with that spelling. My naming question would be “are there any family names your considering/have considered ?” That’s what we’ve pulled from with both our kid’s names! Family names that carry on the legacy. I have several friends that name their kids with their maiden names. I thought that was unique! And meaningful!
You’re gonna do great in labor, I don’t think it’s a scale as much as a hormonal shift it will in just the right time. There’s nothing wrong with waiting to see her.. SO glad I did that with mine especially in hindsight with my second.
My birthing experiences were great! The anxiety for me was real pretty much up until I check in at the hospital. Then the tunnel vision started and anxiety was gone, it was go time 🤣 Hoping this may relieve you a bit of any current anxieties you might be getting. It's really a magical experience 💕
I recommend waiting to make the final decision until you see Miss Baby's face. Nothing wrong with choosing before, but don't stress about not having it finalized beforehand. When you see her, I think you'll just know.
When picking a name for your baby, yell it across the house. First Middle and Last. Just to see if it flows . Because you eventually will yell it. Lol My grandmothers mothers name was Minnie Tennessee.
Your comment stands out to me, as VERY important advice! Because as you said, the name WILL be yelled out eventually, I laughed, so true. I had two ways to yell it, like an explanation mark (a burst all at once), or the many syllable drawn out LONG yell...
I was terrified of birth my entire life, but once I was pregnant I just thought of it like, “well there’s no way to avoid it now so there’s no reason to be so scared of something inevitable” and it really helped me. I took all the classes and had a pretty smooth birth. Not nearly as terrifying as I thought it would be.
my daughter's name is Navy... basically what you two might describe as "out there". people will definitely have something to say whenever she tells them her name but i think only good things :-) names in this new generation are VERY different than ever before. i think out there and uncommon names will be more popular than anything in the future!
I actually just heard about a baby named Navy and I think it's really cute! it's definitely unique but still feels like a really pretty name that will grow with her. I guess the out there names I don't love are the ones that seem like they're just for a baby and it almost feels like the parent is treating them like an accessory. Navy doesn't come off like that at all 💙
Birthing classes did NOT prepare me for how crazy labor would be. I went in as a scheduled induction and left as a C-section. There were several setbacks to my birth plan, but I was prepared for anything to happen so my son could be born safely. Having an open mind about all the possibilities was a HUGE reason why I felt so secure during his birth. In the end, all I cared about was making sure baby and I were safe and healthy. Good luck mama! You’re gonna be a rockstar!
@@leighannsays thanks! Lol when I told my husband, he said he felt like I was trying to tell him something by watching your baby videos. 😂 I was like “no! I just found out! That was just a coincidence that the only UA-camr I follow happens to be pregnant 🤰🏻 “ 😂
Love this so much! Love the names you mentioned and can’t wait to see what you end up choosing. It would be fun to see what the other top name that you don’t choose is after she is born, if you feel comfortable sharing and don’t plan on using in the future!
Clara is my coworkers nieces name. My friends aunt is named Quinn- & I had an old classmate who named her daughter Harley. Keep in mind the initials that will work with the middle & last name so that they don’t spell something weird. I agree about the unique spellings- at work me & my coworkers always discuss interesting reservations names we see.
Good point about the initials. I almost married a man whose last name started with an O, so my initials would have been HO 😳🤣 That's not the reason I didn't end up marrying him, but I was definitely planning on using my middle initial lol.
Also, I hate that when people name their children something that they never plan on calling them. and Silly names... one of my coworkers names was Princess... yes that was her legal name. She went by Sam.
I agree. In elementary school I had a friend named precious (this was the mid nineties so way before the movie came out). As a kid most of our teachers would refuse to let her go by her middle name (Jessica) because there were already so many Jessica's/Jess's/Jessie's in our grade. Eventually when we got to highschool nobody cares and she decided she didn't want to go by her first or middle name and decided to go by Penelope instead.
I used to looove listening to sj strum's baby name youtube channel! They're mostly pretty off the wall but she has an adorable accent/calming voice, and while some of them are really trendy and over the top its fun listening! I think her and her sister also have a podcast now
Say you’ve had a list since you were born made me feel so validated 😂 I’ve had a baby name list on a note on my phone for like the past 6 years. Am I super single? Yes. But would I regret forgetting the ‘perfect’ name if the time comes? Also yes. I just like to be prepared!
Awww yes!! Vada Sultenfuss :) My Girl was always one of my brother, sister and I's favourite films growing up :) I could definitely see Leigh Ann and Grant with a Vada :)
I was so scared to give birth. My water broke and I started freaking out. Honestly I freaked out for nothing. I know every birth is different, but I had such a positive experience. We had fun in our room. We watched game show network between pushes. We laughed, we cried happy tears. I pushed for an hour (my first baby) and out he came, 3 weeks early at 8.8lbs! Your nurse will coach you on what to do. You've got this mama! Once you do it, you'll be a pro for the next time and I'm praying you have as good as a time as we did!
I relate to your comment about being tall being used as your identity. I'm small (4'10") so my height was always the first thing people would notice and comment on. It was always one of those things where it was like yes, and the sky is blue! People also assume that because I go by Lisa, that my real name is Elizabeth. She will be the daughter of the Mayor of Fort Worth so it will need to be dignified. No pressure....
exactly! it's not like it's a wrong thing to say but when you hear it all the time esp growing up it just gets old. hahah great point about being the mayor's daughter 😂
I always love hearing what people name their babies, I like non popular names (but not like crazy object names). When I named my kids I didn’t consider anything in the top 100 for 5 years previous haha.
I remember with my first I definitely reached the point physically when I was done being pregnant, but I never lost the nervousness surrounding giving birth and the new role I was about to take on.... Until the moment I saw him, and then it literally just clicked. 🥰
@@leighannsays it's gonna rock y'all's world in the best way! I was DYING over her ultrasound pictures. 😭 Those chunky cheeks. Ugh, she's gonna be SO precious!! 💜
my daughter’s name is Eve. I thought it was very short and sweet, but also strong and classic. not common, but still classic. it gives me kinda whimsical garden vibes, but not a direct plant name cause her dad wouldn’t let that happen haha
I loved that Grant mentioned Jane. We've always said that we'll use family names as middle names and my mom's name is Jane. The more I think about it, the more it goes with just about anything for a middle name. Like a way less popular version of Marie. Ironically, her middle name is Ann just like yours and her parents always called her by both names!
Had I had a daughter, I'd have loved to have called her Rosanna and we would have called her Rosie. I wanted a name that had lots of options to it for her in the future, Rose, Anne, Anna, Rosie, Rosanne. I was given a name that nobody else had and it was torturous through school. I twisted and turned it to make it acceptable to other people and dislike it to this day. 🧡
Can't wait to hear what y'all decide for miss baby, my sons name just popped up while at church before we even decided to have a baby so it was easy but we didn't realize that he woukd have the same name as a celebrity until it was already decided but its okay i don't mind and im sure mu son won't mind either
When I hear Quinn, I think Daria. I also agree to just name the kid what you want to call them. My sister is Breanna but we have always called her Breezy and that was the intention when they named her. They admit now that they should have just named her Breezy. I think they just wanted he to have a more adult professional legal name but she totally goes by Breezy still and she is 27 with 2 kids herself. Being called Breezy has never been an issue. I don't think an out there name is necessarily a problem. But, in fairness she did get called East Breezy in high school which was not great. : /
We hired a Doula for our first baby and it was such a relief to have a pro who’s only job was to help me!! My first labour was induced and at one point my daughter completely flipped around and my Doula had me on all fours doing hula hoop motions and it totally worked! Saved me from a c-section. Glad you’re getting as much info to prepare you as you possibly can🥰
I feel the same way about naming your baby the intended nickname! My daughter's name is Lucy, and people ask all the time if her name is Lucille. No, her name is just Lucy because that's what we're going to call her anyway 😂 No point in naming her the longer version
You and I have some of my favorites on your reject list.. I like names of flowers,Lilly Violet, Rose, Camille and Ivy.I love the name Scarlet but I think it would be better for a dark haired girl. I have always loved Laura.
Not really the video for name recommendations but have to recommend Ariella - lioness of God - strong but also lyrical and pretty! Sweet for miss baby but also when you grow up
Vivienne, Bronwyn, Gwendolyn. So fun picking names. I had boys Norman and Watson. They are family names the boys are proud of. Can't wait Miss Baby to get here. Just hang in there and go with the flow for your birth. You will do fine and suddenly just be ready when it is time to get the job done. Hoping you and baby girl have a safe and happy birth.
I used to not like my name because whenever we went on vacation they never had souvenirs with my name on it 😂but I grew up to love it because it's less common
It's funny because I frequently had the opposite problem where my name was too popular so all those items were sold out in my name haha. My son has a unique name now
I’m really interested to hear what baby/mommy resources/books or classes you’ve been using! I feel like you guys are so prepared and knowledgeable and I think that would make me feel more confident when the time comes to have a baby 😊
I had a c-section with my first and a VBAC with my second. When they told me I was at a 10 and it was time to push I cried because I was so scared. 😅 It ended up being the best thing ever though and I would do it 100 more times! It was so special. Also my baby girl’s name is Marlowe! We were going to do Margot but thought Marlowe was a little more unique and went with our son’s name better.
I don't know if this will help or not but with both of my kids this sudden feeling of being a badass warrior came over me. My daughter said the same thing happened to her. Sort of a "I do this I can do anything" feeling of power. And as my AWESOME nurse told me, our bodies were built to do this.
My daughter's name is Willow and if this baby that I'm pregnant with now had turned out to be a girl, we were going to name her Ivy! I love that name and I thought the pairing of Willow and Ivy would have been SO ADORABLE! However, our baby is a boy so we had to go back to the drawing board!
As a Maternity Nurse I have seen some pretty crazy name choices (animals, objects, random made up names), and I think you guys are spot on with not wanting to pick something “out there” or a spelling that’s unique just for the sake of being different.. we always say to parents, they need to put this name on a resume some day, they aren’t going to be a newborn forever. Can’t wait to find out what your daughters name will be!
My best friend since childhood is named Clara (middle name Jane after her mom)! I’ve always loved those names, as a Samantha who grew up in the 90s with a million Samanthas in my class. 🥲
My first two pregnancies I didn’t have a hard time with their names, my daughter Kerrington, I knew from day one and my son Liam I knew a couple months before he was born. My last pregnancy however, I couldn’t decide and I didn’t name him until after he was born and I saw him. His name is Lincoln and he’ll be 2 in October. I’m excited for you and Grant and can’t wait to hear what you decide to name Miss Baby!

Clara the cow was Minnie Mouse's best friend.
It’s Clarabell
Yessss I thought of the cow as soon as he said it. Awwww. Nooo lol
... I didn't know that... nor do I mind. I'm not a Disney person. Although I did like the Disney princesses...Little Mermaid was my fave.
Lol
My grandmothers mothers name was Minnie Tennessee.
hahaha good point!
Haha that is such a good idea!
Navy doesn't come off like that at all 💙
@@leighannsays spill some tea. Give examples of accessory names
@@leighannsays i definitely know what you're saying, i totally agree
Birthing classes did NOT prepare me for how crazy labor would be. I went in as a scheduled induction and left as a C-section. There were several setbacks to my birth plan, but I was prepared for anything to happen so my son could be born safely. Having an open mind about all the possibilities was a HUGE reason why I felt so secure during his birth. In the end, all I cared about was making sure baby and I were safe and healthy. Good luck mama! You’re gonna be a rockstar!
Your videos are hitting different now. I just found out Im pregnant ! 🥰🥰
aaahhh congratulations!! so happy for you 💙😩
@@leighannsays thanks!
Initials are so important! I knew a little girl whose initials spelled EGG 😂
Can we just take a moment to talk about how Luna melts my heart? She is so sweet and adorable.
I’m heartbroken. I remember you saying Ruby during a Q&A before you two were married. I was so confident! Haha! Good luck pickin!
Aw my daughters name is Ruby! ❤️ she is 3 months old and I’m watching this video with her asleep in my lap!
As long as miss baby is ready, I just want to see her! Just want a healthy, happy baby for you family! We love you Leigh-ann! A x
Also, I hate that when people name their children something that they never plan on calling them. and Silly names... one of my coworkers names was Princess... yes that was her legal name. She went by Sam.
My uncle never called his children by their given name. He had entirely different name for them.
@@reginafetty6374 I just don’t understand that. Like why didn’t you name them something differently
I met a girl named Baby. I don’t think her parents considered the fact that she would grow up
L Mo 🤭🤣😅
Omg. I haven't been on UA-cam in a while and seeing that you're pregnant has absolutely made my day!!
we stan a queen who advocates for therapy! i've been looking forward to this video, excited to see the names discussed 😊
I used to looove listening to sj strum's baby name youtube channel! They're mostly pretty off the wall but she has an adorable accent/calming voice, and while some of them are really trendy and over the top its fun listening! I think her and her sister also have a podcast now
Hehe yes, I've recently become a fan of SJ's and thought of her when Leigh Ann and Grant were going through the baby names.
Say you’ve had a list since you were born made me feel so validated 😂 I’ve had a baby name list on a note on my phone for like the past 6 years. Am I super single? Yes. But would I regret forgetting the ‘perfect’ name if the time comes? Also yes. I just like to be prepared!
"Stump?" - I'm dying! Your husband cracks me up 🤣
I see you with a little girl named Vada - like from the movie my girl. Y’all are going to be such wonderful parents.
Hi! Love watching your videos. Where is the painting and the white console table(?) in the background at 1:52?
I always love hearing what people name their babies, I like non popular names (but not like crazy object names). When I named my kids I didn’t consider anything in the top 100 for 5 years previous haha.
Same here! My daughter is Juliet and girl #2 is on the way and her name will be Gemma ❤️
Y’all are too cute and I love grant so much, he’s so gentle and has such a calm energy 🥺
Watching you change into a mother has been amazing LeighAnn🥰 YOU are SO CUUUUTE!
aww you're so sweet! thanks for being here!
Totally agree about giving your children a proper name that works for their entire life. Excited to see what you pick out!
I remember with my first I definitely reached the point physically when I was done being pregnant, but I never lost the nervousness surrounding giving birth and the new role I was about to take on.... Until the moment I saw him, and then it literally just clicked. 🥰
I'm so excited for that moment! 🥰
@@leighannsays it's gonna rock y'all's world in the best way! I was DYING over her ultrasound pictures. 😭 Those chunky cheeks. Ugh, she's gonna be SO precious!! 💜
Awww, Luna on her new pillow. So cute.
my daughter’s name is Eve.
That's what I thought of too! I loved Daria
Yes and specifically her bitchy popular girl friend saying it!
We hired a Doula for our first baby and it was such a relief to have a pro who’s only job was to help me!! My first labour was induced and at one point my daughter completely flipped around and my Doula had me on all fours doing hula hoop motions and it totally worked! Saved me from a c-section. Glad you’re getting as much info to prepare you as you possibly can🥰
So excited for this! I'm due February 3rd so I'm taking notes!
aaahh congratulations!! 🙌🏻💙
My daughters name is Adeline. I doubted her name for probably her first year of life but now I’m obsessed. It fits her so well. She’s 17 months old.
I feel the same way about naming your baby the intended nickname! My daughter's name is Lucy, and people ask all the time if her name is Lucille. No, her name is just Lucy because that's what we're going to call her anyway 😂 No point in naming her the longer version
My daughter’s name is Semia (Se-mia). It means a jewel or a treasure.
I also have a son named Lincoln, but I like that for a boy or girl… 💕
Yes! I’m *just* Abby. My entire life I was asked if it was short for Abigail. Nope, just Abby 😊
OMGGG YOU WONNNN
Wait to meet your little girl and you will know. My son was named Thomas in the hospital but changed the next day. He is Patrick! Perfect
Sweet for miss baby but also when you grow up
Yay! I don’t know why I find baby names so interesting but I do!
same here!! it's such a huge decision that could possibly set a tone for their LIFE 😅
Vivienne, Bronwyn, Gwendolyn.
My son has a unique name now
Elise was my girl name but I only had boys:)
i always had the same problem! because of the way my name is spelled, i never saw it anywhere.
My mom always told me if we found something with my name on it she would buy it for me no matter what… no luck yet!
I love Marlowe
That's a cute name!
Watching this after my egg retrieval today!
Best of luck! 🤞🏻
Im Excited To Know The Name Yall Picked, She Loves Them All Though Yall!
However, our baby is a boy so we had to go back to the drawing board!
that really is the cutest name combination!
I mean, Grant made a great plant suggestion! Husk! 😂
Name him Forrest
As a Maternity Nurse I have seen some pretty crazy name choices (animals, objects, random made up names), and I think you guys are spot on with not wanting to pick something “out there” or a spelling that’s unique just for the sake of being different.. we always say to parents, they need to put this name on a resume some day, they aren’t going to be a newborn forever. Can’t wait to find out what your daughters name will be!
Omg Miss Luna bean on that pillow killed me 🥺❤️
I’m not sure if you can have rooibos tea pregnant but I use to use that when nothing touched my migraine. It helps with the inflammation and Nausea
I’ve been waiting for this one!
yay! glad you're here!
you are literally glowingggg !!! so excited to meet miss baby
If I have a girl one day I’m gonna go for Charlotte. Very classic, literary, pretty. Nicknames can be Charlie or Lola or Lottie.
One of my favourites too!
My one year old is a Charlotte and we call her ChaCha 🤣 Mainly due to my 2 year old not being able to pronounce the full name
Quinn was on my list too but I always think of Quinn from Daria, which I loved!
My best friend since childhood is named Clara (middle name Jane after her mom)! I’ve always loved those names, as a Samantha who grew up in the 90s with a million Samanthas in my class. 🥲
I love that combination and I love Samantha too!
I was gonna comment “so the name is gonna be Clara Jane then?” Which is very cute!
I’m 35 weeks and DONNEEE being pregnant. I’m so ready for this babe!!!
Waiting for “Miss Baby”! So excited for you and Grant. 💖 🎀 💞
Miss Baby A. Roni. Sounds right to me
Girl big pregnant looks good on you 😍🌟
thank you very much 💙 I'm loving it a lot (except when I'm tired haha)
My first two pregnancies I didn’t have a hard time with their names, my daughter Kerrington, I knew from day one and my son Liam I knew a couple months before he was born. My last pregnancy however, I couldn’t decide and I didn’t name him until after he was born and I saw him. His name is Lincoln and he’ll be 2 in October. I’m excited for you and Grant and can’t wait to hear what you decide to name Miss Baby!
