- Track 5 off of their album titled "The Amanuensis"
LYRICS:
And there is death in the air, everywhere. (all around me)
Through the night, I won't make it, anymore (No)
But I forget that I could make all the same bad mistakes
Like the ways of the ancients, everything has to change
I would do anything to remove and erase
Just to lie
Face to face
Or would you take my place?
Wait, are you the Garden of Sankhara?
Wait, are you the sound of time?
You know the mess that I made to be .
And then I see you there
A bitter soul that you made of me
and dancing on your fucking death.
I'm moving to a place that I can to shake these god damned vines (alone on your own you will fall.)
I'm moving to a place that I can't escape, I hope they let me stay alive (alone on your own I will fall)
But I forget that I could make all the same bad mistakes,
like the ways of the ancients, everything has to change.
I would do anything to remove and escape.
Just stand now face to face,
or would you dare to (Take my place?) bring back to me.
Who's in the mirror that im meant to see in between
the mystic stain on this waking dream.
And standing at the fall
reflection leads the way,
reflection leads away.
Wait, are you the Garden of Sankhara?
Wait, are you the sound of time?
Just give me a hollow guess that'll ??
Or are you really there?
Wait, are you the sound of time?
You know the mess that I made to be .
And then I see you there
A bitter soul that you made of me
and dancing on your fucking death.
0:01 when you see someone drop their wallet and try to get their attention.

Jesus, John Brown is a master of melodic riffs
I always sing "Wait, are you the golden light? Wait, are you the sound of time?". Chris never sang "...of Sankhara" when they played it live. Its even more beautiful to me.
If Vildhjarta and Periphery had a child , It'd be Monuments, This album really growing on me ! Dope vocalist.
I like periphery as much of the next guy, but imo monuments is a better band. Their sound seems more... mature, i think. Add Browne's picking style to that, well... They're awesome. Have to check vildhjarta out tho, not ringing any bells here.
My comment was a little premature comparing them to periphery, I was a new monuments listener back then & that was my immediate reaction, and now that im 100% familiar with both albums i think they hold their own really well. Monuments have become one of my favourite bands now, both Gnosis and Amanuensis are absolutely briliant albums no doubt.
@@theScienceOfFear2012 Funny you compared them to Periphery, Chris actually sang for Periphery before Spencer joined them and Chris went on to join Monuments.
The kick sounds like someone is slapping the shit out of a wet ham
+Luke Djentleman other than that, it's great :)
+Luke Djentleman I fuckin lol'd
Real. That's the only thing I don't like about this album. Everything else is perfect
Possibly the best djent genre song of all.
Monuments are from far in a upper level than another band in this style.
Meshuggah???? U just simply can’t say that when the best of the best created the genre accidentally and that’s where this band came from. Not saying anything bad abt this band but cmon
@@mikedelvecchio3193 Yeah Meshuggah maybe create this "genre" of metal but being the creator of something doesnt make you the best on it. Meshuggah its a meh, too noisy for me like the 95% of the bands in this genres. I agree with you in terms of technique, Meshuggah its a very good band and have incredible musicians but like i said previously its just empty music for me, sometimes its even cacophonous. To be honest i dont like the new stuff that Momuments are creating now but this album its so musically great that hits me hard in comparison with the rest of the stuff in this modern metal scene with 95% of empty bands.
One of the best well conceived and beautiful melodies in a metal song piece. Excellent. My opinion.
This song is absolutely epic
those back vocals make my kundalini shiwer_
The shushumna is strong within this one alright
:)))
lol i saw this coment and wanted to replay than realized its my fkin coment hahaha
2021 y sigue siendo TEMASO 😩
3:52 WHOOOO!!!
this album cover is sick
Epic. And that groove....
no puedo dejar de escucharla!!!
Chris is metal's Michael Jackson.
Those were my thoughts exactly. You get that vibe listening to his vocals haha
You couldn't be more accurate!
a mix between michael jackson and axl rose
Now that I just saw this comment, I can now envision Michael Jackson singing (and dancing) to this song.
ive heard browne saying hes a huge mj fan
I love this damn song.
great stuff
God tier album
first time listening to this band, i fell of my chair, i am chocked, i dont know what to think, is this djent
I don't know what to think about you being chocked, should i call the police?
brian corsetti go ahead
djent at its finest
nope, djent doesnt exist, its progressive metal
JacksonKdrums Go stuff your head in sand somewhere else. Djent is a genre - whether you like it or not. Symphony X / Dream Theater / Opeth do not sound even close to this - yet they're progressive as well? Fuck no, get lost.
Absolute banger :)

Too much groove!
Damn..just kinda takes off.
THAT CHORUS THOUGH.
The S part of the logo reminds me of another band hahaha but, damn! This guys are legendary \m/
Love this track! awesome album, happy to have found this band :D
Has anyone taken the effort to write down the lyrics?
I actually spoke to Chris Barretto himself, and he said that he was mad busy, but he hopes that he will be able to release the lyrics for the album soon.
Mad busy=jerking off, release is forthcoming...
Y.I. Oughta Totally posted them for you guys!
Almost a decade later an still k official lyrics
How is the Chorus, "Wait, are you the Garden of Sankhara. Wait, are you the sound of time." All websites say this but try to sing it. There aren't that many syllables in that verse! Someone who owns the CD please tell me if the lyrics are published that way. I don't hear Garden of Sankhara at all.
+Matthew Force When he says Sankhara it's incredibly low in the mix, as it sounds like background vocals, and really hard to hear, but he definitely says. Whether it's audible or not might depend on what you listen to music through.
Thanks man, I didn't think about different speakers. I feel dumb, I hear it now hahahaha
So you guys have the best singer ever and don't release lyrics, ok
Eduardo Salazahar these lyrics in description
THANK YOU UA-cam!
666th like. ;) This is sick tho omg I love it
Any chance of lyrics for these? Would love that aha
yetojesse Scratch that, these are missing o.o
JD Artistry Totally posted almost all of them above this comment, also, for most of the songs on youtube
Lyric video pls
If they could only release the lyrics for this one.

Anomaly Thank you for this. :)
Reminds me of Protest the Hero, not Djent...but very good in any case.
as if Karnivool teamed up with Sevendust and a 7-string guitar..
aslan parçaları sizi katlangoçlar
This is real?
This band is the reason I bought a 7 string guitar.. and got into "Djent" but fuck genres so...
I'm right there with you, man. Entirely too much emphasis is put on Genres these days. If I like it, then I like it. If not, then I don't. That's about it.
reminds me of gojira for some odd reason D:
Ameer Kader could be because of the harmonics.
They want to be Periphery so bad 😂
You must not listen to any Periphery. I've listened to every Periphery album, and I can tell you, one of the amanuensis sounds anything like them.
Chris baretto used to sing for them boi
@@Buttstinky He didn't write anything though, he just sang for them lmao
Periphery only started to become good when P4 came around, before that they were the 'we do whatever we want' kind of mish-mashed boring stuff. Monuments has always strived for actual coherent narratives given the circumstances.
