If Verills was already leaving, i would say he's a fine replacement. but verills was only forced out because they signed Smith. so yeah i think it was a mistake.
It's no mystery:
- They dropped their most creative player early in the season.
- They hyped up a young player (not his fault) who was always going to union.
- Victor gives away multiple penalties and has a permanent seat booked at the judiciary
- Keary's pass timing is permanently off sync and his kicking game is poor
Brandon isn't an 80m hooker, he is good to inject for a bit of quick firepower, though he's better suited to Lock. There's a reason why Grant was kept while Brandon was shipped off.
Agree with everything here. Also it's a small thing, but Keary can't kick far enough. Oppositions constantly start their sets at the 40m line. Over 80 minutes you get gassed.
@@trustfire Yes, I mentioned Keary's kicking and passing are poor this year. He is a very good runner of the ball but His kicking has never been great but at least it used be more accurate with the chip kicks

You pay $500,000 to someone on the record, send it off to the NRL, then pay an additional undeclared amount to the player's family members or to overseas bank accounts. Or you employ family members on token jobs in the club or businesses controlled by board members. Or you give the player and his wife use of cars sourced through the car business of Nick Politis that are not owned by the player, and never declared, and in the books of the car business they are demonstrator models. There's so many ways to fiddle the salary cap, but most clubs don't have extra money floating around like the Roosters do.

If the coach thought it was a problem he could have said no. He didn't. The Roosters have been trending down for a long time, now. Long before Brandon Smith turned up. If he's a problem it's problem #15 on the list. Far bigger ones are a forward pack which is a shadow of its former glories and guys like Walker, Kearey and Manu being very inconsistent. Look, they couldn't get over the top when they had Latrell. That speaks volumes. Smith is an easy target because of his media profile. It's easy to say Bellamy wanted him out after the fact. All I know is Bellamy kept picking him even when his off-the-field antics were far worse than anything we've seen since he moved.

The Roosters were going downhill long before Brandon Smith turned up. Point the finger at the coach who has allowed his forward pack to deteriorate rapidly over successive seasons whilst he fiddles about with a backline which was always good enough to compete if the forwards were getting a roll on.
Funny how him leaving Storm it’s clear we still need him (in the lock/bench forward) but at the roosters he’s rubbish
He left because he wouldn’t accept that he is a lock/ bench player and thinks he is a first choice hooker he is not Bellamy played him how he should be played roosters aren’t and that’s the problem.
Storm don't need him, if he came back, he'd be useful, but Storm don't need him.

The roosters have so many stars on their roster it's pretty easy to forget three or four of them.
Roosters entire method of scoring is trying for line breaks. if they cant score off that they have no other options in attack. Their kicking game is weak and they lack a real playmaker who can make things happen, Munster, hunt, reynolds, clearly, luai etc.

Played the 2021 season as hooker won Daly M hooker then said a lot of things he shouldn’t have on a podcast after the roosters signed him and was moved back to utility player because he wasn’t the future at the storm. So yes they did…
*TRENT ROBINSON* becoming the face of sexual inclusivity in the NRL might be something that's adding to the team's woes. Remember the Manly Pride round debacle last season? There could be some religious boys in the Roosters' dressing room who don't agree with Robinson on that.

I remember seeing Mr Robinson climbing out of a bloated black Mercedes 4WD tractor at the home of the Clovelly Crocodiles for what appeared to be a pre season ball work session with the boys a couple of years ago. It looked wrong and anathema to rugby league. I am not suggesting he catch the 360 to training but that car was a metaphor for their eventual and predicable decline particularly with the departure of the likes Cronk, who to this day does not appear to have had his nose fixed, giving the best possible NRL virtue signal.

As a storm supporter, Brandon is an impact player, someone to inject in the game but I never believed he was an 80 minutes hooker. The storm knew Harry Grant was the better pick and were happy to part ways with Brandon. I'm not saying he's not a good player and probably needs more time to get the rhythm with the roosters but I'm not sure hooker for the whole game is his best position.
