- This 2003 KX125 was in great shape and a perfect find for a project bike. The frame paint on this bike looked like it was brand new. We can only imagine that whoever owned this bike rode it around a few times, fell over and scraped his elbow and then sold it. To us, God bless that guy. We didn’t go crazy with modifications on this bike because we wanted to keep it reliable and easy to tune. The crazier you get with cylinder and head mods, the fickler the jetting becomes. This machine took us right back to 2003 and reminded us just how fun this bike was.
All these 125 build videos have made it impossible to buy a 125 in Washington lol keep it up tho love these RacerX build reviews!!
I have an 04. PC jetting is perfect! With a PC suspension, they recommend 5mm fork height( stock 15mm). The bike handles amazingly with this change. I also went up one tooth on the rear sprocket to tighten the gear ratio. Parts are easily accessible. Acerbis has full plastic kits and chain slider/guides available.
How much was the suspension upgrades?

I remember when I turned pro in the 125 class and you had to keep them pinned the whole time or they would fall on there face. Nothing like todays 4 strokes you can lug around and the huge torque will pull you through.

Freestylebattlefield 1 yeah it's crazy how far superior bikes got. Midway through the 81 season I raced the 125 and 250 class at local races and I won both Moto's on the 250 the first time I raced it. Everyone said I was riding it like my 125 keeping pegged the whole time. That's obviously an exaggeration but I did ride it pretty hard that first time. 1983 I got a pro support ride with Honda and those were the best bikes I ever had.
But the 250 smoker will still smoke a 250 thumper

Modern front end on the kx is always a pet peeve.. Nice Build tho.

DAMN you guys paid 3 grand for that! I got a 05 with 10 hours total for 1500... must be nice to have money to blow like that lol man I'll catch up soon enough guys!
Christopher Villarreal some of the bikes they build are $400 buys; they payed 3k and dint even really touch it, graphics and some little stuff here and there and it’s set; $1500 you prolly put 500-1000 into it to make it how you want it so it’s pretty good price. Good buy on the 05 for 1500 👌
yep thanks I found a few that I'm building 05 cr125 4 hrs basically new 05 kx125 03 cr250r all 3 bought for 1500 and they all run and are mechanically sound so super stoked about getting started on these projects!
Im in Washington state and cant find any 125s for under 3k its wild up here. Good luck on your builds post em up!

I want a 92 kx125, probably have to buy a frame and do a ground up build. Vintage mx racing is how gen-x deals with midlife crisis, why can't we get re-release of these? MW2 is coming....some companies recognize potentially profitable to retro, now back to watching Roseanne, chill on that Netflix.

FMF also has jetting specs on their site. Not as many as they used to though.
kysavage they got rid of all of their 2 stroke jetting specs. I think that's a mistake considering 2 strokes are such a big part of what built that business.

I would get a late model CR125 just because almost all the parts for them are still being made and in stock

Thought the whole point to these films was to bring back old bikes from the dead so the average man can relate, not to find near immaculate survivors that would look fine if rolled out as they are! Less chat chat and more pictures / videos showing the process would be good too, may be a race with a gopro hemet cam at the end! All that work for an 8 min video, why not stand out over the other similar mag videos on youtube?

They made KX til 07... 3k was too much! They need to do a full PC works build of this and have Bubba come spin some laps 😊

It looks really good.. I just wish they made upgraded side number plates without doing all the subframe bullshit. The shrouds and stuff still look okay. The number plates are the only thing that make it look horribly dated.
Chad Kennedy you can always trim them up with a dremel. If you take lits of time and do it right it looks great but buying graphics for them is a pain.
