Very many thanks for posting this one Steve, I have not seen the Bristol Beaufighter for over 10 years now, it has progressed, but not as much as I had hoped, the Nimrod was a great surprise, and the remainder were just a real treat to see! Stay safe ! Chris B.

Thanks Chris, my pleasure. It will be nice to see the Beaufighter fly one day (hopefully). I think that engines are being rebuilt by a workshop in New Zealand for both this and an Australian project. It's not yet on the UK Civil register. When it appears that will be a good indication of progress, as well as obvious changes and movements to parts on the airframe. I have some more to post of the museum and another of this hangar taken during December, featuring the engines that are next to the Sea Fury. You can see them briefly here - there are 4. I think they're Centaurus, but they may be Hercules and/or a mix? Take care. Steve.

Just to let you know the caption and registration is wrong for MOTW near the end.
    Nice video and everything.
Thanks for posting and taking the time to make it. Been a couple of years since I was last there.

I agree. It's one of a kind as well. There's a story behind why it hasn't flown so far. My recollection from what I was told is that a number of internal flight systems weren't connected as they should have been and the only way to sort it out was to remove the engine completely. I think that also meant that the whole rebuild had to be double checked. In addition I think there are legal proceedings involved?

Its was strange seeing them like that in the summer months when normally they would be flying let's hope for this spring and summer months this year they will be in the skies

I agree and yes, let's hope so! This also shows just how much time, effort and money goes into keeping all of these beauties flying!🙃👍

@@joey95661 In my opinion 'The Ultimate Fighters' are quite probably the best Warbird Formation Display team currently out there. Better even than 'The Horsemen'. It takes a lot of skill to fly 4 different types of WW2 fighters of different weight, mass and performance in such a tight formation so consistently, always beautifully done and a joy to watch. Tell your Dad (and the rest of the team) thanks for the stunning work. I'll look forward to seeing the Ultimate Fighters again soon and to filming their stunning show.

@@HighFlight thank you very much for that I will let my dad and the team know of you kind words but yes it is a fantastic team they have put together ...it reminds me of the OFMC back in the day when they flew a similar display with there p40 spitfire mk9 there p51 and corsair from back in the day ...just love the different sounds you hear the big engine on the p47 and then the 3 marlins just sounds so great ...we look forward to this year I hope they can display especially now that flying legends is going to be at Sywell which is where the team and collection is based .

Brilliant video but why no Mossie? The US Canada and NZ have one but not the UK!

Thanks. The last remaining UK based airworthy Mosquito crashed whilst displaying at an air show in Barton, Manchester in July 1996, sadly with the loss of both crew. There are a number of static museum examples in the UK, including one at this museum which hangs from the roof of the ‘Air Space’ building, but also at the De Havilland Aircraft museum at Salisbury Hall, which has a number of Mosquitos including the prototype. All are static though. I have film of all for a future project. There are currently 2 UK based projects which are aiming to return a Mosquito to fly in the UK. The Mosquito Pathfinder Trust intends to rebuild 2 airframes and The People’s Mosquito 1 aircraft. www.thewoodenwonder.org.uk/
      www.peoplesmosquito.org.uk/the-plan/
Hopefully one or both organisations will one day succeed in their aim?

The Fighter Collection at Duxford did own Mosquito TV959 as a restoration project (one wing had previously been sawn off!) for a while but sold it on. It ended up the basis for the second of the Avspecs restorations in New Zealand and is now airworthy with the Flying Heritage Collection in Seattle and very lovely it looks too!

@@richuar Thanks, I didn't know that. I see that TV959 is now flying again in Washington USA with the Flying Heritage Collection after restoration by AVSPECS in New Zealand - flyingheritage.org/Explore/The-Collection/Britian/de-Havilland-D-H-98-Mosquito-T-Mk-III.aspx

@@HighFlight no worries, fingers crossed we’ll see an airworthy Mosquito in the uk again before too long. Nice video by the way, always good to see what’s going on in TFC’s hangar, I work literally 2 minutes from Duxford but this last year haven’t had a chance to visit for some reason. I do get to see what’s flying everyday though from my workshop window!

Noorduyn manufactured Harvards were designated in a slightly different way to those built by North American. Starting in 1942, Canada's Noorduyn Aviation built an R-1340-AN-1-powered version of the AT-6A, under license and paid from the USAAF Lend-Lease fund. Referred to as the AT-16, and British Commonwealth Harvard IIB, a total of 2557 were built. After WWII, several aircraft continued serving in the RCAF.
