- This collection update covers an eclectic range of black metal releases I picked up recently, ranging from barbaric black/war metal, to raw black metal to melodic and folky black metal. All classic bands, and some old and new releases!

(Additional notes: I forgot to mention that the ULVER album was released in 1995. Also, with the comment “even though I know Van Gough was Dutch”, I meant that the painting was still in his style, even though it is a Norwegian album and Norwegian landscape. I did not mean anything negative or derogatory by that comment!)
Links to the metal albums provided provided below (I don’t own any of the rights to the music, just sharing the music for those interested):

Great update James. Do have th OG cd of Fimbulwinter, don't think I've listened to it for over 20 years..... 😂😂 Did go for the box set for the newest Varathron, and that have lyrics, but not the other vinyl editions. Very weird in my opinion. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Impiety's cover artwork is really awesome, it reminded me some old Beherit artworks
I agree! Thanks for watching!
Great update, just woke and had a morning coffee while watching 😁 Fimbulwinter layout, cover art and photography kicks ass, music wise its also pretty good😁 Varathron is amazing 💪
Thanks a lot, man! Really appreciate the kind words, and glad the video was worthy of morning coffee viewing, haha! Awesome! Totally agree, both of those releases are quality!
Hi James!!! another super cool update and as always loved your enthusiam and very detailed thoughts about the music, lyrics, artworks, etc....The only one i think i recognize is Fimbulwinter cover!!! cheers and be well
Thank you very much, Cristian, for the awesome words! I really appreciate them! Yes, that FIMBULWINTER cover is iconic and classic! Cheers!
Solid black metal update James! I'm mostly familiar with Impiety and Ulver by name. But, the rest I'll have to do some research.
Thanks, Tony! The ones you haven't heard of are definitely worth checking out, especially VARATHRON! And that ULVER album is an absolute masterpiece!
I finally got my cd copy of Ulver Bergtatt back last year...i split up with my wife 11 years ago and we halved the collection...either way she finally gave a heap back last year as shes moved on to country music now and has no use for bm anymore apparently.. Ulver was among quite a few other classics was in that heap that was returned..alot of stuff i forgot i even owned aswell...cheers for the video,it kept me entertained
No worries! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! And it's great that you managed to get a lot of your collection back, including that classic album! Thanks for watching!
nice update james.
Cheers, mate! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for update these bands, I'm not familiar with three bands , the only album I know is Ulver Bergtatt, and that is a classic album, great to have it on vinyl .., I will check out the other bands, must say that the greek band 'Varathron' looks to me a great album listening to what you say about this band and album... I do like you shirt ,is it "Ancient' from Norway ? I did not recognise the Band logo , take care !
You're welcome! Yes, VARATHRON is an absolutely essential band to check out, in my opinion! The shirt is actually of the Swedish band, ANCIENT WISDOM, but I also like Norway's ANCIENT! Thanks for watching!
Some cool stuff here. Did you ever try Impiety's Skullfucking Armageddon? Serves as a good bridge between the older stuff and the more death metal sounding modern albums
Thanks! Yes, I think I have a copy of 'Skullfucking Armageddon' around somewhere, but I need to give it more of a listen! And although 'Kaos Kommand 696' was intense and relentless, it had some great riffs and amazing moments! I should re-visit that one, too!
Great update, James. It's always good to find a record you've been after for a while 👍 Enjoy your spins, dude 🤘
Thanks a lot, Sean! Yes, it was great to finally pick up that album around 30 years later, but better late than never! :D
Although I prefer the previous one, the new Varathron is a great listen. Last one sounded more "greek" to me and had more melodies. New Funeral Storm great aswell...nowadays the Greek scene delivers much more quality material than Norway.
Yeah, I initially preferred the previous one too, but this new one has grown on me a lot! I agree that the previous album sounded a lot more Greek, so this one is more varied and eclectic! I bet the new FUNERAL STORM is excellent; can't wait to hear it! For me, the best black metal scenes at the moment are those from Greece and Finland. Thanks for watching!
@@stormwind_7996I really like the Quebec scene aswell...
eh stormwind but Black metal? should be Orgrimmar .... xD
