Good video, But we need a video on FRONT hitch mount. Have you ever backed a short trailer from the back hitch? It SUCKS! Put your trailer on a front hitch... WOW!
That's wishful thinking even without towing anything. All but the big dog truck trannys are 100k transmissions. They use to use big dig trans in the Lincolns, but while you may get more (even 200k without maintenance), you can only count on 100k from light duty auto trans. It's all to do with the surface area of the clutches.
Technically speaking those were done improperly. Your supposed to take the 4 bolts ( might be 6 ) and then the 2 or 3 torx bits off each side remove back bumper amd there is a nice hole that goes back to the bumper so that way your not putting holes in the frame that don't need to be drilled put and your doing it correctly by removing rear bumper . However I don't think it will hurt to do it thos way and it is probably faster by 20 minutes.
The Disgruntled Mechanic I have hitches with the lock washers loosen up. Just a suggestion. You did make it look easy. I need one on a 08 Grand Marquis. Wish you were closer. I would pay you to put one on. Thanks.
Oh I thought about the locktite but as I said most stuff rust tight here within a year. Maybe I won't be so lazy next time and put some on! Thanks for the input!

What's the part no. For hitch
The transmissions last well over 200000 miles of you do the proper 30000mile trans fluid changes

I've worked on those Escapes before. The transmissions don't hold up.
Yeah so I have heard. Glad it isn't mine!
coming sooner than later, 01 to 04 ford transmission rebuild/replacement :))
I will inform the customer!

followed instructions that came with hitch. so if wrong the hitch manufacturer is not giving proper instructions.
Is it a 201
You made the installation look easy. I know that fishing the bolt through is sometime a real pain in the rear end.
Sure can be! Thanks Jim!
Looks like its ready to go haul stuff now, nice job Mike!
Let's hope so!
That plate bolt thing is a good trick Thanks a lot
My pleasure as always!
"Going fishing" in retirement means a whole different thing to us car guys.
HA! yep!

I'll just go hide now
Nah usually just for another cold beer in the cooler!
Right
Great video mike
Wait a minute!!! Where's all the rust?
Every once and awhile you find that rear exception to the rule!
Nice job mate

Great job Mike and if you had another set of hands, it would have been easier for you! Have a great weekend coming up!
Thanks Terry same to you!
Those can be a bitch at times. Factory mounts with after-market hitch. Fun times!
Wasn't as bad as the last one I did.
I was wondering why you don't use lock tite. You use it on every thing else.
Could've I guess and instructions didn't call for locktite. Plus after 1 year it will have Pennsylvania locktite called----rust!
