The prices on this site do not equal profit as the market commission has to be deducted from the price listed. Also there is an economics concept called "opportunity costs" and because of this cost of 7 fir folders is not zero and has to be accounted at flea price minus commission.
Yeah all valid points and some others here in the comments addressed them. At the end of the day its all just for fun. You can't really get anything meaningful out of getting nitty-gritty with the data. Next wipe all the numbers could be wildly different, just fun to look at them. But I got a lot of good feedback from you and others for the next video, so thank you!
@@AndyAtar Nice! I've thought about doing videos for 95k as well, but haven't gotten around to it. Moonshine this weekend though, for sure! And thank you for watching :)
I love seeing analytical breakdowns of rng like this! Definitely looking forward to more of these. Having said that, I have some hopefully constructive criticism. For one, you can never consider any intel to be "free" even if you loot them, because there is always the option to directly sell them. (I know you mentioned the total input, but you didn't carry that through and mention how much of a net loss it meant in the end) For two, the fact that a key or gun can generate additional value when used also does not matter for the purposes of determining profit, because, you could just sell the intel and use that money to directly buy those keys/guns. In both these cases, opportunity cost is what's being ignored, which makes the intel runs seem more profitable than they actually are. For three, I would replace the unneeded disclaimer about how guns and keys generate value, with one pointing out that the items produced by the scav case come with found in raid status, which has an unquantifiable additional value similar to the flea-banned weapons, since it helps complete quests.
Appreciate the feedback! I did say that the totals I was working on were assuming I only paid for 43, but I understand what you're saying and I should've carried through the comparison of what I spent/got back vs what I would have if I included the cost of the missing 7 through the entire process. On the second bit, I agree for just looking at raw input and output from the case. I used to maybe more directly say in the previous videos "This is raw value" and then "This is potential value", with raw obviously being if you just sold the guns/keys for their face value/flea values, but I see what you mean with just buying the keys/guns. I still think there's merit to situations such as a lower level/inexperienced player who doesn't have the money to buy the key in the first place, accounts that don't buy keys in some hardcore fashion, etc, to say you -could- generate more potential from keys/guns you wouldn't have otherwise had or bought regardless of whether you could. There's so many different little caveats you could throw into the mix, like someone else here pointing out that I never account for the cost of building the scav case in the first place which is also valid criticism, but at some point I don't know if its worth getting into all of that... or maybe I'm just lazy haha. At the end of the day I try to say you can't really get anything valuable/deterministic from the data anyway its just fun to put together and put out there. Digging any more deep into the numbers and what they mean is above the pay grade of my small brain haha. Again I greatly appreciate you checking the video out and commenting with all of this feedback and I'll try to keep it in mind/revisit when I get around to making the next case opening video!
Awesome! I think I've only ever gotten 2-3 marked keys in all the intel cases I've opened. I'd love to see an official drop table and/or drop rates for all the keys you can get from BSG but I guess that would get rid of the mystery of opening them.
This is a true and fair callout and one I should probably add in the disclaimers bits. I just don't factor it into the costs because you're (at least I am) making it to gamble on keys, guns, quest items etc regardless so I just look at profit/loss post creation. You could theoretically make profit over the cost of making the station if you get lucky with key pulls though, however slim those odds might be lol
@mrterkyman the start up shouldn't be counted as a loss it should just be counted at a debt needing payed off because the cost of the spot doesn't stay the whole time you play after so many cases you will pay off what costed to build, it just takes longer sometimes depending on your rng but seeing it as a loss isn't the right mind set I don't think
@@brendankeith249 Yeah that could also be an argument. Idk, that's why I try to point out there's not much you can really take away from the "analytical" side of these videos. Its just fun to get into. After a certain point you could come up with a list of 50 little caveats for whether its worth it or not or if you make profit or not. At the end of the day its just a fun thing to make and compare wipes with.
Just buy intels at the start of a wipe for 70k each, then they deffo worth it.
This is probably the play if anyone is interested in slingin' intel cases haha
Once again, thanks for the love on the video everyone!
great video bro
Thank you my guy! Hope you're doing well!
I only did 2 and got a marked room key on the second one

i did about 35 and made a loss on it, only key I've gotten that's worth mentioning is Check 15 Appartment key.
Yeah it can be pretty rough sometimes. I've gotten blue tape and multiple marked keys some wipes, and absolutely nothing in others :/

That's like saying the cost of starting your business is a loss when in reality it isn't a loss untill the business fails if it does that is
