I started DJing with 2 belt drive turntables and a radio shack realistic mixer. Big technics over the ear headphones Heavy ass pioneer wood speakers and amp. Reverb and 20 band equipment. Damn my back hurt listing it
With that roller pitch control and wobbly platter. I used the cardboard from Pepsi can cases for slip mats. Realistic up/down mixer no Crossfader.. Y’all remember when Radio Shack had Shure/Realistic we carts and stylus for a good price.
Like the Gambler, you, sir, "know how to hold'em" (the ones-and-twos that is). This is the essence of hip hop: taking something old and making it new (and dope) again. Very nice tribute, Scratch Bastid. Mr. Rogers would be proud.
I was going to say the same. If he didn't let on at the beginning he was spinning Kenny Rogers I would have thought it was some classic funk/soul songs. Wow. That was amazing
That's what happens when you give a good DJ a chance. You never know what they might introduce you to. We may not know how to play a musical instrument, but some of us know music that we can manipulate in musical ways that a great musician might not be able to perform as seamlessly. #trustthedj
Wow . .!!! Hip hop fan since 84' and I just want to say this guy is the real deal . . I also love Kenny Rodgers and miss him but we are all going the same direction at one point or another . .
You're my biggest inspiration. Everything you touch turns to gold. I've always been a huge fan of you and always wished to be able to scratch like you. Keep doing what you do brother, you are the best of the best. 👍 ☺ 🙏 🥂
@@mathieujalbert1793 A legend? A legend of eh at? I mean no disrespect but about all the issues doing is changing records with a scratch or two years and there. Look up DJ Jazzy Jeff. THAT is DJ.
Well Done, I met Mr. Kenny Rogers , In Delaware back in the day. Really-Really Really cool man..I did a two night tour with his production team. We ran lighting (Baltimore Stage Lighting) He showed everyone full respect. Just one of the great professionals.🙏😇RIP
Thank you for introducing me to the this album, the tracks you cut up are superb but tracks like Goodbye Marie and Coward Of The County are equally so good. I finally found this for $1.00 in a thrift store in London and guess what - duplicate discs! Another DJ clearly loved to cut this up and it was fate that I found it
Thanks for highlighting the other side of kenny rogers as always with music there is always something new to learn and find out kids watch the master here and learn above all stay safe folks
Ok I've ALWAYS liked Kenny Rogers but seriously! Now I gotta go back, dig in the crates to the mid 70's and grab some Country and Western! Eddie Rabbit, Oak Ridge Boys, and Loretta Lynn here I come!
Stellar job. I got to witness Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie many moons ago at The Houston livestock Show in The Astrodome. They both absolutely killed it, and I got to meet Lionel Richie.
I know Kenny has some classic tunes like "Islands In The Streams", "Lady" & "The Gambler" but DAM, you went for the deep cuts to find some funk in some hidden gems off a Kenny album. Goes to show you need to do your homework and listen to any records to find some grooves from unknown places. Great job Skratch. Rest in Paradise Kenny!!!
R.I.P. to the Gambler! Scratchbastid has done it again. The Ginger Prodigy from the North. Showing masterful scratch mix while maintaining integrity to artist's music. #SKILLZ

Brilliant! I remember seeing Kenny at Landsdowne park in Ottawa with my mom when I was a kid, I probably didn't appreciate his music at the time but I do remeber him throwing frisbees out into the audience :-)
Kenny updated his sound when he moved to RCA Records. That explains some of the poppier/funkier elements of music for that label. He still recorded ballads, but experimented with other styles. R.I.P. Kenny Rogers
Random UA-cam recommendation; old school Kenny; old school scratching; DOPE; immediate subscription!! Can`t wait to hear what else you have in store....
And a fellow Canadian as well (going by Raptors and 11/11 poppy) Wish you were around when I was in highschool, playing NHL 94` with buddies and getting mad high!!

DJs these days have it far too easy with vinyl. In my day we had serato and CDJs - they took real skill
