For everyone just starting I did all the math and how much cord for each step :)
Layer 1: 8 x 4 yards = 32 yards
Layer 2: 6 x 2 yards = 12 yards
Layer 3: 32 x 9" = 8 yards
6 x 30" + 6 x 32" + 6 x 34" = 16 yards + 26"
Total: about 81 yards
using 3mm cord on a 3/8" dowell
Thank you very much❤️🥰
You are amazing - thank you 😊
Tks, it’s so helpful because I used to mensure in meters.
Haha thank you I was just gonna write a comment. Why don't they put the measurements you have to keep replaying it!
Spanish?
I just wanted to say thank you for the explanation of the inner cord and the outer cords being different lengths when doing spiral knots. As a beginner I cannot tell you how much that is appreciated.
I love how you clearly explain how to tie the knots. ❤️❤️
thanks to those who put the measurements into both English, and who translated the lengths into Metres. That was a great help. I decided to twist up this pattern by making each of the 3 sections a different colour to match (the friend who I was making it for) home decor. I used yellow cord for the back, light grey for the spiral twist and dark grey for the front section and it turned out great. Thanks so much for the tutorial - this really is such a helpful community.
This is one of the best videos of macrame ive seen so far! I love how to explain the knots slowly and not just continue and get done with it! Thankyou so much, it was super helpful
I was born in the 50’s and by the time I hit high school we were do this with jute cord, I loved doing it, now I’m doing one for my granddaughter, but this time with white cotton cord. You know what they say, all styles come back around again, well here we are.
Your work is just beautiful.
Thanks for sharing .
Just finished mine! A going away gift for a friend. Thanks so much for the tutorial! Now I'm going to see if you have more, I need to make a housewarming gift for my sister.
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial. Like so many others here, I have also made one for a friend. I used blue cord and added a shelf but you helped me make it beautiful. 😊
Great job explaining, the visuals are also great! Hand placement was great! LOVED THE WALL HANGING!
This is a wonderful DIY tutorial. One of the most thorough I’ve watched. Thank you
Thank you for this!!! I had to adjust the pattern slightly to fit what I had in mind, and you spelled everything out so clearly that it was no problem at all to do so. It came out wonderful! Thank you!!!
Awesome tutorial. We are so happy with how it turned out!
It was my first one. Instructions are very clear. Thank you very much for sharing !
Just finished mine!! I’m obsessed thank you so much for this video!!
Hi thanks for your tutorial! I made one as a gift for my grandma's birthday. I think she'll like it ✨
Finished in one day! Thanks for such a great tutorial
Thank you for this amazing tutorial ! Your directions were absolutely on point ! This was my first time ever and your directions got me through it. I made this with a 4mm cotton macrame cord on a 24 inch dowel and used 5 inches more than your suggested measurements on each and it turned out perfect ! I had a little bit of trouble towards the merging point since I ran out of the cord but made it work! One suggestion is to put in the description box of the total yards or feet of cord needed. Please do continue to create great tutorials like these!!!
Arifa Chowdhury how much cord did u use? 🙏🏼
@@AmitLFC I used approximately 280 feet of 4mm cotton cord keep in mind my cord was pure cotton so I had to use a lot more than the video recommended I suggest u buy 300 ft of 4mm cord and add 5 inches more to each of the strand measurements
I would like to see a picture of your macrame , sounds amazing!
European here - did you really need 300 FEET? 😧
@@livbensonx3 yup I used 100% cotton cord so likely because of this reason I needed to use 300ft if you buy a different type of cord like the rope kind then maybe u wouldnt need as much
Thank you so much for your very good, condition informative instructions. Beautiful work with great pics instructions.

English translation from Michele Felipe:
Guys who want to make this panel.
I will pass the ones that I converted here to Brazil. I tested it and it worked.
Come on
8 strands with 3.70 mtrs
6 cords with 1.90 mtrs
4 cords with 3.00 mtrs
32 0.25 cm strands
6 cords 0.80 cm
6 cords with 0.85 cm
6 cords 0.90 cm
I used a 0.60 cm wooden stick or you can use dry tree branches, I also used 24-thread twine, but you can use 3mm cotton cord.
Obrigada!!! Qual foi o comprimento total da peça? Por favor
Thank you so much for your expert way of explaining everything so easy for us to follow. It is a lovely piece of work.
Amazing tutorial with clear instructions! Thank you!!!
Thanks Jenn! I had bookmarked this tutorial from a long time and finally got the supplies.
It was just my second attempt at macrame and I turned out beautiful, thanks to your instructions :)
Awesome! I'm glad it helped.
Thank you for this tutorial. I appreciate that your guidance is so well explained. Mine turned out wonderful! ❤
Awesome video!!! Made my first macrame and it came out amazing!! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial - quick and relatively easy :) Just made it and it's my second macrame. I'm already searching for some new project ;)
I made this today - and love it! It's a gift for a friend and I can't wait to give it to her! It took me three hours, way faster than I thougt:) Thank you!
How many hours did it take ? 😁 I want to do it for my sisters birthday but don’t know if I’ll make it on time haha
Excellent! This is my next wall hanging project! 😍
IT is so meticulously done and you have really done a great job
Thought this might be helpful to anyone interested in doing this with 5mm single strand cord:
1st Layer: 8 x 4 yards 24" (I did 4 yards 6" and ended up too short on a few strands. 5 yards would be safer, but if you have limited cord like I did, 24" hopefully will be enough.)
2nd Layer: 6 x 2 yards 24"
3rd Layer: 4 x 3 yards 24"
1st Layer Fringe: 32 x 10"
2nd Layer Fringe (3 different lengths): a. 6 x 32" | b. 6 x 34" | c. 6 x 36"
FYI, you'll be able to salvage some of those fringe pieces from the remainder cut off the ends of your main layers, so that will save you some material.
Great pattern! This was my fourth beginner level wall hanging and I had no problem following the steps. Good luck!
I just did the measurements for 4mm. Wish I’d of seen this first and thought old of gone with 5 instead haha never mind. How long was your piece at the end? If you could share, I’d be very greatful x
Thankyou for the helpful instructions, mine came out beautifully, I took it a few steps further ( on a huge stick) another 2 layers, because I was so inspired, 1st time I really gave it ago, now im hooked 😀
As for me as a beginner this was by far the best easiest Tutorial.
Thank you and a follow

lisa ransom I spent an hour a day so took me few days to complete it..the way she’s teaching makes it easy.. just follow the video it will be easy
Thank you so much for this tutorial. This was my first macrame project. I already knew the knots so that helped.I used 6mm
do you happen to remember the length you used? I am using 5mm and trying to figure out how much more to use
@@ysa1012 I honestly can't remember 😬
Belíssimo trabalho parabéns 💓😍👏😍
Piękna kompozycja 🤗😘
Beautiful ❤️
Hello :) if you could add in the description information about the lenght of needed parts also in cm that would be so helpfull 😊
looking for it toooooo :/ ugh :S
You will need 74 m, excluding the cord required for hanging.
Me too. Love the easy explanation but I need to convert to centimetres all the time.
YOU ARE AN ARTIST
Beautiful
Really cute but much smaller than I thought it would be. I cut the dowel to 18in since there was a ton of extra space. My 3mm finished project was 15in x 18in
Hey! Can you Tell me please what is the length and height of your wall hanging? :) thanks!
This macrome wall hanging is very beautiful. I like it so much. Thanks for this video. I want to do like this macrome wall hanging. But I dont understand each cords lenght.
Could I learn the cords lenght?
Gracias. Lo hice y me quedó hermoso
Holaa, de cuantos centímetros son las piezas de la última parte? La que dice que son 32 cortes
HI! How long is each cord when you cut it?
It's very useful tutorial
Does it say some where how much cord to buy and how long the cords have to be this is my first time trying macrame.
your ornament looks great. how tall are the threads?
This is my first trying something like this. Mine is not as nice as yours because it's not as tight as yours and I ran out of cord, so I finished a little different. Thank you for the video. I'm sure I'll do better the next time.
Would I use the same measurements if i used 4mm cord?
I don't speak English but I understand You ! Thanks ❤️
Love this tutorial so much!! Just curious, how much would you charge for a piece of this size? Trying to get an idea for my Etsy shop.
Es igual a uno de mis tapices 😊
Hi from Turkey. so beautiful. i will try now😍😍
I did. I would like to send you your photo on Instagram
So all in all how much macrame must i buy?
Muito lindo 😍😍😍
If I were to use 5mm single ply cotton cord would anyone happen to know how to calculate how much more I would need?
soooooooo buteful❤❤❤
I like it
Thank you i just finish it , i love it 😍
What do you use to hold your dowel up?
Hi wonderful video thank you! Can you please sum up for me the total yards of cord?
May I ask, what is the length of the first number of plaits ??? I can not estimate. Tks
If I wanted to try this on a bigger scale, do you know how I’d work out my measurements of cord? I have a piece of driftwood that is 95cm and think I will attempt this with 4 or 5mm cord but obviously the amount of cord I need will be more. Any idea how I can pulf calculate what I need? Appreciate any advice. Thanks 😢 xx it’s such a beautiful piece xx
I made a macrame wallhanging that won't lay flat. Can you recommend something that I can use to stiffen or "block" the entire project? Thank you.
Can i make this with a 2mm cord
i don’t know why i keep getting chords that are shorter than others. my chord is a little thicker but i tried twice i guess i’ll try again. this tutorial was so helpful!!
im also just getting started but logically if you tie the same amount of knots with a thicker chord it makes sense.. because the volium is bigger so every knot shortens it more
Love this. Why did my ropes end up different lengths I could only do seven of those diamonds?
I had this same issue, ive made this same pattern 3 times lol not sure what my issue is
Very nice. 😍😍😍
Please where can I buy the dowel?
I bought mine from home depot for $4
