I want to go next year! There is not parade where I live south of the border. There's one in Mexico but it's not as big as the ones in the United States.
So absolutely fantastic! I was there the night of the Stonewall riots. 6/28/69 I was going to the Stonewall to dance. It was 1 am and I was coming out of the Christopher Street station. The front door was boarded up with plywood. Fires in the wire trashcans on the corner near 7th Ave. Anyone who was there and would like to reach out to me and fill me in on your experience, I would love to hear from you! Loves Wins FINALLY!
I remember it but wasn't there - the next day and burned out garbage cans - when Christopher Street was Christopher Street, first stop in NYC off the Path tubes.
I was all of twelve years....

Lots of talk about visibility and inclusion, I see trans people young people many other. What I do not see is any images of myself. our image is invisible forgotten. I refer to LTS Long Term Survivors. I am a Gay Man 61 years old 21 years HIV. I worked for Heritage of Pride many years ago. The older generation is invisible, erased from memory. Not all of us are dead, many of us are still here. and feel very unwanted. Our voice is a whisper no one hears.

When we dedicate a month to our fallen servicemen, I will consider celebrating someone’s sexuality for maybe a half hour.

If you have even glancing association with any service member, you should understand that they come from everywhere and include everyone. All of us who are service members do not need public reminder of a need to remember. But I suppose your choice to ignore Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, V-J Day, V-E Day, Armed Forces Day, etc. is a slip of your mind. Add them up and see if they surpass your bar of one month. My grandfather(Army)and my father served (Navy) and lost their lives. I served (Navy) and survived and I am gay from birth coming from this line.
We are not celebrating our sexuality, but our survival among people who chose to think as you do.
Pride in the survival with what the gods gave us, in spite of your tissue thin thought of sexuality and pride.
Do you mark a date on your calendar on the day you decided you were straight ? You celebrate that, right?

Nobody is stopping you. Start planning. You are a part of we. Pride was not dedicated as a month "just because." Nobody gave it to us. We started pride at the grass roots level. It started out as riots. Events and parades were small at first. We planned them ourselves. We got donors and sponsors to help fund them. Unfortunately, they ended up on different weekends. Then it grew into a month-long celebration. If we can do it, you can too.
