Hackathorn was one of the guys that I religiously followed back in the late 90s. I still watch the old school Bill and Ken VHS tapes. You may laugh but if a standard Colt o1991 proves itself to me I'd carry it as is/ plain jane (maybe switch out the sights). Of course it is nice to have all these nice touches.
So cool, to have those films on VHS tapes. I watch all of your content on UA-cam. You're one of the only people who have quality content about Wilson Combat outside of the Wilson Combat channel. Thanks for sharing so much of your insights about the 1911 platform. I recently got the W.C. CQB Lightrail, instantly my favorite gun.
@@stuckcase7775 Good thing J.M. Browning didn't know this. He originally designed it as a 9mm and the Department of the Army hand it changed to .45 acp. Nothing from J.M. Browning mind was heresy! Only not knowing any better is. KnifeMaker
Wilson Combat makes excellent firearms... but in the end.... they all shoot the same bullets. As long as the firearm is reliable it doesn't matter who manufactured it.
I'm not certain where he's originally from, but he lives in or near Salmon, ID now. Personally, I don't know why anyone would openly carry. Imho it only encourages someone to shoot first and ask questions later, and if I find myself in trouble I want the element of surprise to be on my side.
I have a love/hate relationship with the 1911. On the one hand they're awesome range guns and not much can rival the trigger of a tuned 1911. On the other hand it's a three pound gun with 9 rounds onboard if you're lucky (in .45 ACP with a 47D mag). I've CCW'd them in the past and for many years carried a BHP (the 1911 was practice for the creation of the true masterpiece!), and to me the only serious way to CCW was cocked-and-locked. As the years went on though I began to be won over the idea of guns that don't use a manual safety. After all, there's always the chance of forgetting to disengage when you draw, or reholstering without engaging it. Probably that wouldn't happen since I trained extensively but you never know. I've seen a couple of security cam films where a guy was shot because under stress he neglected to sweep the safety off on the draw. I'm not a SEAL or secret squirrel but just A Regular Guy, and if I'm being honest I have to accept that maybe cocked-and-locked with a single action auto isn't optimal for CCW. Now I prefer the HK LEM trigger (no safety but it still has a hammer which adds safety when holstering the gun IMO).
Being an older fellow, I grew up shooting single action revolvers. cocking the hammer on the draw is a natural to me. I find sweeping off the safety on a 1911 to be just as natural. Basically the same mechanical memory in drawing. Can't imagine ever forgetting such a natural thing for myself. KnifeMaker
@@Totemparadox Agreed. Better one top quality weapon than three adequate or "just good enough" ones. Particularly if I may be called upon to stake my life on it someday.
Come on sir. Sorry he isn't showing off your favorite plastic gun. Makes you feel left out I guess. But truth be known, you can find plenty of evidence that he shoots those too. I think Hackathorn is more of a fight guy instead of a gear guy. Either way. Have fun.

If i sell my car, I might be able to order this model. I will also need a ride to the gun store to pick it up.
Mag well is a must for a serious 1911 shooter!
His tactical mustache is awesome!
he uses it for room clearing.

A very nice goin' to Sunday meetin' gun.
I love The 9mm 1911,

Phauxtoe 9MM in a 1911 is heresy. Get a hi power

I don't think I've ever seen anything with "Wilson Combat" on the side that I didn't like.
I want one!
Beautiful.

Hey Ken, what ever happened to Ron Phillips?
Nice! Now if only I could come up with the money to buy one...
Where's Ken from again? Where OC is "common"?

hell any wilson gun would be a hell of a bbq gun. hahah
Not a fan of FCS. Never used them. But I can see how others may
He didn't bother explaining the fluted barrel, all for looks I guess, nice pistol, it's on my list.
got one on order. too bad it takes 24 months tho.
Goddamn, this company makes some amazing handguns .

No need to sweep anything with revolver. I like them all.
I want...
Nice Barbeque pistol but maybe could have been hard chromed. I like shiny.
They will do it in stainless if you wish.
I need more money :(
I'm sold. (poor wallet)
Haha that's all well and good.. But how much ? Lol
$2800 to $3500
Nice gun , but you can buy 3 Kimbers for the cost of this pistol.
afc 1911 yea but you have 3 stock 1911s vs one badass 1911
So you're gonna carry 3 guns at once? No? Then what's the point?

@@thestayathomebeard3065 Yep, and all you have is three mim laded Kimber's!

this guy loves the sound of his own voice
For a renowned expert, this guy is pretty sloppy with safe handling of the gun.
Your funny. Ha ha. Give us another expert citation from your training career.
Ken is a one of the greats but sadly has become a shill. I'm surprised he doesn't have a Hackathorn shammy cloth 'as seen on tv"
I don't believe so sir it is due to his long time friendship with Bill Wilson they work extremely close in the industry.
