Having watched all 9 Planet Of The Apes films, the 3 Andy Serkis films are essentially reboots of the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Roddy McDowall films; Rise (2011) is Escape (1971), Dawn (2014) is Conquest (1972), & War (2017) is Battle (1973). I'm still hopeful that there might be modern day reboots of the Original (1968) & Beneath (1970) at some point.
You should get into the Godzilla and kong monster verse movies
LETS GOOOO
No matter how many times ive seen this movie, the moment cesar says NOOOOOO!!!!! always gives me goosebumps
Imagine this in real life 😮
So true d original movies were classics i thought dis trilogy would be shit but it was awesome lov it want more
@@kodesh1674naw dawg no apes n machines t 1000s oh hell no
me too - that is my favorite part of this trilogy
Yes, you are going to love this trilogy. One of the best in movie making history in my eyes.
Ok, that’s #^%*!! 2 and 3 are fine but not as good as the first.
@@TheRedPeril Let people have their opinions you melt.
@@TheRedPerilAll three are fantastic, and honestly, 1 is probably the worst of the 3.
Love this trilogy, this is a great opener and the stakes escalate so well. Caesar's "NOOO" is a shit got real moment.
Honestly Maurice is probably the best character throughout this entire series and is my personal favourite ape
Bro is the realest real. He’s always loyal and always the smartest one of the group, sometimes smarter than Caesar.
Dude you have no idea how incredible this entire trilogy is. It’s gonna blow your mind.
Soo good. Especially if you've seen the back in the day original it plays really well to give the back story of what happened cos I've not really known what the origins of the big swap between humans and apes and these movies laid it out really well.
The original is my favourite for the sc fi ones
@AndyT81 these are a prequel??
@@svprcrm7189 Yes, I'm aware. I meant this being the back story (prequel) to the original made movies from the 60s and 70s movies.
It answers question that I wasn't aware of.
Its the fact i actually cry everytime i hear Caesar yell no because its such a POWERFUL moment and it absolutely gives me chills EVERYTIME
I saw this in the theater with my brother, 10 years after the release of the god awful Tim Burton movie. I told him the new Planet Of The Apes movie got positive reviews and it's regarded as one of the best Sci-fi movies ever made.
Tim Burton in general is hit and miss.
One of the best planet of the apes films ever made, so much character development for Caesar that really makes the film as good as it is.
I don't know why I'm so obsessed with this trilogy. I can guarantee you I can speak along with every line. I know all the words by heart
Apes infected with ALZ-113: *exists*
Maurice to Ceaser before being infected:
“Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our intelligence”
“Apes stupid” is still my favorite Maurice line 🤣
One of the classic Sci-fi sagas. Pretty new to the series myelf and was definitely not disappointed. The new movies are so badass
1. This movie is special to my because it was my first out loud reaction in theaters. When Caesar said "No!", the whole room when silent, and I broke with it with a loud "YES!"
2. The guy playing Franklin is the same guy the Joker blew up to escape jail in The Dark Knight.
3. I knew Koba was fucked up when I first saw this, but I NEVER imagined what kind of monster he truly was.
4. I looked up Ivan the Gorilla. From one Washingtonian to another, "Hi!"
#2 is very incorrect. Franklin was played by Tyler Labine who I best know as Dale from Tucker and Dale vs Evil. The henchmen with the bomb in his stomach, who imdb has listed as fat thug, from The Dark Knight is a bit actor named Aidan Feore.
@@jaromen oh, really? Dang. I thought they were the same guy because they look so alike.
I remember Ivan at the B&I . I used to visit him as often as possible when I was a kid. It was actually sad to see him in that concrete box. So glad they finally released him into a sanctuary
35:35 this feels like watching Batman & Superman team-up and then the trolly shot with the whole Avengers team stance is so epic
The most underrated trilogy ever made. Masterpiece from start to finish!
The 'CGI improvement' is bc they went from CGI to Mo-cap when Ceasar reaches 5yo. He's played by Andy Serkis, his acting; expressions and movements are captured via motion capture dots on his face and body.
There’s a prequel book for the next movie that goes into Koba’s backstory. His messed up face is from abusive caretakers. Blind eye is from a cigarette, scar over it is from a knife. That’s just a few things. He’s got a lot of reason to hate humans
“On a historic day, there came Caesar. He did not grunt. He articulated. He spoke a word spoken to him countless times by humans. He said…No.”
Caesar’s No left me speechless in the theater. Left everyone speechless! I didn’t expect it at all. The classics had much more human-like apes, so with having more realistic ones, I thought having them talk would be a step too far for a casual audience. But this movie did it so well! They only have Caesar talk, and it’s only a coupl times for significant moments.
This movie in general I didn’t expect to be as good as it was. I thought I’d like it more than most bc I was already a fan of the classics, and then I watched it. Easily second best after the original, at the time. And then we got sequels that just got better!
Also Koba is a Bonobo - breed of chimps that are known pacifists, ( they are also one of the few animals that settle their beefs with sex lol ) that should paint the perspective of how horribly humans treated him.
@@chaotix7275 yes! Also that!
I literally watched all 9 of these last week, so this is one LOVELY surprise 😂 one of the best trilogies of the 21st century, enjoy it bro
this is one of those rare occurrences where each of the films (that are already S tier) get significantly better as they go along
Thanks, Primate! 🦍 I love this one way more than the sequels. And my ex-husband, still a friend, worked as a production assistant on DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2014). Even if you don't want to watch the older ones, at least watch the very first one... to see the genesis of the idea which spawned such a franchise. #ItsAPrimate #RupertWyatt #RiseOfThePlanetOfTheApes
That’s awesome!
🍻
This movie shatters everything. The planet really belongs to the apes. Hit your chest, Cesar.
This movie is pretty good! I liked it, I remember enjoying seeing (a pre-cancelled) James Franco in something besides Harry Osborn or stoner guy in a comedy. I also have not checked out the original planet of the apes, I was about to back in the day but then this came out and never got to it
I love these movies. Caesar is awesome. So sad when he gets put away.
I watched this reaction with my mom and she couldn’t stop cracking up at your commentary. Yet again another great reaction!💜
31:54 Even the Gorilla was like, What the "Buck"? 😂
He finally did it😮
I love how you're immediately on the apes' side like most of us when we first saw this lol solid trilogy but this is my fav of them -- there's just something special about the first movie that started it all for me. Excited for you to see the rest!
The original PLANET OF THE APES (1968) is a really good movie and definitely worth your time. Yeah, the FX are a little hokey, but that's part of the charm. The writing and themes in it are what matter. Part of the reason RISE is so good is that it's a really faithful reboot.
Would we call this a reboot? Or is it more of a start of a prequel trilogy of sorts?? hehe
@@RyoHazuki224 I could see an argument for both.
Yes I agree, you must see the originals, they are classics, I love practical b4 CGI.
The Start of a great series. There’s also an Easter egg for the original movie. On the news it shows a rocket launched with the astronauts from that movie
how i feel leavin my dog at home alone when im at work 😭😭😭 im like " im sorry buddy " 18:53
Planet of the Apes is my favorite movie franchise.
This trilogy was the best franchise of the 2010’s; every entry is great.
And while far from perfect the original 5 movies are all worth a watch.
I remember being disappointed with the Tim Burton remake when it came out, but I might rewatch it since I recently got the blu ray box set.
My theater when Cesar said "NOOOOOO!!!!" was one of the best reactions I ever experienced in theater. I mean we knew he was going to talk but didn't know when so when he did and how it came out had us all shocked and glad at the same time.
I watched this part for first time in March 2023, and I really like it!
Really underrated. I know it’s well liked but the pace of this film with all its ‘moments’ like Caesar talking etc. Brilliantly done!
I think Caesar made the connect of the leash. The dog was leashed, and so was he; like an animal.
You going to love the whole trilogy bro. This is a great franchise! I love this movie ❤ Great reaction. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fr, definitely my favorite trilogy. I have shown these movies to my friends, my fam and i have seen every reaction to this and i NEVER got tired of it
Thanks brotha
Hey there, Primate! Since you're already seen the other two, I can tell you this: This series can be viewed as the "Original Timeline" for the original movies, which altered the timeline because of the time travel involved. I really would love to see you do the original 5 movies. They were astounding for their day. Just keep that in mind when you watch them.
The first one was so successful, the studio demanded a sequel, which led to another and another, right up until the producer died, which pretty much ended that. Also, there was a television show that lasted 16 episodes. I have the original movies and the TV series on DVD. I also still have the "bubblegum cards" that were popular at the time. I think I have a complete set, but can't swear to it.
Oh, and something to remember from the 1960s-1970s movies: There was NO such thing as CGI back then. Every effect you see is practical. For the original movie, there wasn't a single "unemployed" make-up artist in Hollywood while making that movie. I believe that John Chambers (the man who designed the appliances the actors wore) got an Oscar for that work.
Bro the sequels were kind of ass, but the original is amazing
Been waiting for this one for a while! Can't wait to see your thoughts on the trilogy, each film is quality science fiction.
Once you finish, I highly recommend you watch the original 1968 Planet of the Apes movie with Charlton Heston. It's also a fantastic movie and has one of the most iconic (and often parodied) movie endings of all time. This movie here does briefly set up the 1968 movie (the subplot about the astronaut mission) and there's a few lines that references the original (i.e., the "TAKE YOUR STINKING PAWS OFF ME YOU DAMN DIRTY APE" line is pretty much the same line from the older movie)
You've actually seen Serkis in a shit ton of stuff. Plays Caesar, Gollum and Kino obviously, but he's also Alfred in The Batman, Alley in The Prestige and Klaue in the MCU.
Also, the actor who played Jacobs here (David Oyelowo), is Kallus from Rebels.
33:41 I like this part. Can't see nothing but the leaves falling, heading towards your way
I watched the trilogy during Covid, and all three of them were awesome.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH SHIT!!!! This is probably my favorite modern (this is still modern, right?) movie trilogy right here. SO f'n good!
That mouth zoomin 😭😭😭😳😳😳
Ape movie lets goooo
Now Primate, don't judge the OG Planet of the Apes, starring Charlton Heston, too harshly. It's a classic, and it's a great movie. Also, the ape costumes look better in the movie than in photos. It surprisingly works. You should definitely react to the original Apes movie, even if you don't continue with the OG series. ❤✌
I loved the obvious Easter Egg to the OG film, when "Malfoy" tells Caesar to "Get your filthy paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"
Yessss omg, please re-watch the other 2 as well!! It’s even better after watching the 1st oneeee
Caesar is one of the best characters in pop culture history 💯 this trilogy is so damn good!
Love this trilogy. It's one of my favorite movie series ever.
Kingdom Of The Planet Of the Apes, the sequel to War of, is due out next year. Matt Reeves isn't directing the new one, so I hope that it's just as good as his movies. Though Rupert Wyatt directed this one. Both directors did an amazing job.
This was an amazingly good movie. Its a good "reboot" to the franchise. And I love the little call backs to the old Charlton Heston movie, lines like "Get your hands off me you damn dirty ape!!" The CGI in this is still fantastic, imagine having to animate so many apes at such a great level of detail. My man Andy Serkis did the mo-cap for Ceasar and he did such a fantastic job! (he also played Gollum in LOTR)
To be honest if you do want to, watch the original Heston movie from the 60's. Its a good movie for the time. The direct sequels to it, eh not so much they kinda got goofy after that.
After that though for fun and laughs you should watch the Mark Wahlburg remake. Its a fun time, but also kinda goofy. The practical effects they did on that one though are fantastic.
Yeah
There’s a movie about Ivan the gorilla and it’s so good i remommend
Yessss that view at the end is the Miur Woods thats nuts!
I just watched this movie (I forgot about a lot of stuff about it) just so I could watch your reaction!
So close to 100k. Let’s Go!
✊
4:11 Agent Kallus from Rebels! daaang! Didn't remember he was there.
Watch the last 2 with subtitles. Some reactors don't and miss a lot of dialogue with the apes who communicate a lot through sign language.
This is one of the best movie trilogys there is.
Shows how good an actor Tom Felton is, because he's so good at playing real jerkoffs, but IRL he's one of the nicest dudes ever
Tbh probs the greatest trilogy of all time
Man said “I need to see the Percy jackson King Kong”😭😂😂
Its peter Jackson bro😂😂
😅
But fr, I'd watch the hell out of that crossover 😂
I know you're here for it...
31:55 NO!!!
Ultimate "Oh shit" moment.
Dawn of Planet of The Apes gotta be my 3rd favorit movie.
my man got Peter Jackson mixed up with Percy Jackson i'm crying @35:55
Andy Serkis is a legend.
This is one movie I can watch reactions to on a new channel cuz I enjoy the movie so much I’m willing to give a new channel a chance.
The alternative is when I’ll watch a movie I don’t really enjoy because it’s from a channel I do enjoy.
This movie is a reboot but also a prequel to the original movie from 1968 that ignores the other movies in the franchise.
There was a reboot of the original, it had Mark Wahlberg in it, from 2001
It's fitting that ItsAPrimate is watching Planet of the Apes
So many references to the original in this
Best genre franchise of the 2010s, MCU included.
My man DID NOT just say "Percy Jackson one" lmfao
I was like "Yo where was there an ape in Percy Jackson?"
Gotta give PRIMATE a hard time a lil now and then 😂
💀
3, 4, and 5 (newer ones) were made after 1 & 2 (the old ones). They are old (and of course not the wonders the new ones are with the technological development)…but it’s the proper order and worth watching for that reason alone.
Let's goo! The trilogy is here baby!
This is a perfect trilogy. Fight me.
I have also yet to see the Percy Jackson King Kong
Love that movie
Yeah
ItsAPrimate: Silverbacks are my favourite animals! ... I wanna see a big boy fight!
Me: Oh no...
I remember seeing this younger I really liked it and of course the other ones too. Can’t wait to see you watch the rest🤝🏾
I cant just start watching a movie from the 2nd or 3rd one. Idk why i always have to go back and watch the start.
This is least action for new apes movie, but best story driven one.
Late on this but i got attached to a freaking butterfly lmao. Was hatching one and only had it for 2 days after it emerged and i cried when releasing it😂
My favorite trilogy ever made! Cant wait!
I'm so freaking excited because I've been waiting for u to react to this way back a couple of months ago and now we're here so happy for u to see one of the best trilogy movies in history imo but love this so much lets go 🔥💯
David Oyelowo (who plays Jacobs, the guy James Franco works for in this movie) voiced Agent Kallus in Star Wars: Rebels
Also, 35:55…didn’t know the son of Poseidon directed a King Kong movie 🤣💀
Primate man I'll be here when you hit 100k for sure, I'm ready
✊
It's like you get to watch the entire trilogy for the first time, even though you saw the second and the third. But the context will make them feel anew.
such a hard ass scene bro ceaser rollin tht dhi was such a dope shot29:56
I think you'd like the Og one from the 70s and you should check out the Tim Burton one just for fun
I would love for you to make a tier list of your top movies and shows you’ve watched Prime!!
At some point!
when koba writes jacobs name on the board - he is calling him out saying one day i will get my revenge
The original movies are classic. They need to be seen.
I remember watching this movie with my family and they all hated it for some reason but I loved it
So glad the next Apes movie that just finished filming is going to tie in to this trilogy.
Ok, I must have completely missed you reacting to these movies, and now ima BINGE these 3 reactions from you rn!! I LOVE this trilogy , and this movie is so good!! My favourite is the second movie , but all 3 are incredible and emotional! Your Chanel is 🔥🔥 bro!
Enjoy brotha!
33:06 LMAOOOO FLUIDDDDD MOVEMENT and bro koba be on black air force activity fr
There's a movie about Bosco the Beauceron
Yes
And funfact, Ceasar was played by Andrew Serkis, the same actor that played Gollum in Lord of the Rings
This trilogy is amazing AND Peter Jackson’s King Kong is one hundo P worth watching. The extended version is 👌🏻
By far the best one of the trilogy.
Is there a one word line as great as that "No!"?
MUIR WOODS. Its by San Fransisco!!! Just went there less then a month ago!
