That female vocal has always given me goosebumps! This is yet another OG hip hop pioneer with that classic NY sound. There's nothing like 80-90's NY style hip hop for me. Except 90's west coast hip hop. Apples and oranges, though... they're both fruit... but just special and unique in their own way.
Bro, you know at the time I was happy for the video. In those days Hip Hop videos were done but not for every song. Like on the inner City " Eric B for President" was the street and club jam, not taking anything from this joint Because this was heat. But FOLLOW THE LEADER was a video masterpiece at the time. But at the time it was a Urban Hit and got more exposure on MTV RAPS.
It's really cool to hear someone your age respect the positive benefits of a relationship that may turn out different than what you originally hoped. That attitude will serve you well. People tend to think they have a long line of failed, bad, relationships, leading to some perfect one. Usually, that line of relationships builds a person into someone that has the needed skills and perspective to make flawed relationships good ones.
Great old school track. This was a big hit. It has so many cool sampels, a iconic groove and bassline. Later others have often use parts of this song as a sampel. Nice words from you at the end.
about time, this is the greatest hip song of all in my opinion, danceable, the lyrics are hard, its got everything . still want to see you chase something a bit lesser known, like Black with NV from the Black Sheep
It's not as easy as you might think to get behind a camera and talk to it, is it? I just recorded 6 Ren reactions this last week and it was way weirder than I thought. Haven't watched this all the way through yet, but had to say that. You know how I roll. haha
YES! This is the Coldcut remix! Best version. The remixers, Coldcut are a duo from the UK, and took the money from this remix to start their own record label, Ninja Tune. Ninja Tune is one of the founding labels for the style/genre known as Trip Hop.
Oh I forgot. This is also one of my favorite old school songs. I hadn't heard in a while, but I like it. If you like this beat, check out enigma MC something or other son is the name of the album. It's All Roman numerals MC something or other
Stax we enjoy your reactions, but may I suggest just one little thing brother.. Searching for the original track for every rap or hip-hop reaction will be much better than the music video versions because for many of us in our era as kids we would know the whole song before the video came out. We were looking forward to the videos since we knew the whole song by memory. So the videos would add all that other extra stuff for entertainment purposes that kinda interferes with the head bobbing & catchy verses of each song. It's just something that I've been wanting to share since no one else has (I'm guessing) Thank you Stax 🙏🏻 you're cool young man
Changing my approach if you don't know this you should. "Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire ft. Despot, Das Racist, Danny Brown, EL-P The Last Huzzah" Just search for that in " ". I'm guessing you don't know about Despot he kills it on this track. Both Heems and Kool A.D of Das Racist are on this I think Kool A.D has the better verse but both are good. Danny Brown kills it on this as usual. Then there is El-P if you don't know you need to. To paraphrase him "he spits 16 to prove to the wold he owns it" and he does. Last we hear from Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire and I leave that as a surprise.
CRASH! Yeah as others have said this is the Coldcut mix not the original, still cool though. Check out 'Follow the Leader' 'Microphone Fiend' & 'The R' nice one Stax machine ❤❤❤Keep em coming 🇬🇧❤️CRASH!
@@StaxReacts I'm a 51 yr old metal head but back in the late 80s and early 90s I got into hardcore gangster rap and 2BLACK 2STRONG was a group that to me hit hard ASF with the lyrics. 🤘
CRASH! Yeah as others have said this is the Coldcut remix not the original version, still cool though. I saw these guys live twice, once as a support act for LL Cool J & once for Public Enemy in '87. Rakim does still tour. 'FOLLOW THE LEADER' is his best known epic hit (do the lyric video as the official video distracts from the words). 'Microphone Fiend' & 'The R' are two other classic tracks. Nice one Stax machine❤Keep em coming❤🇬🇧CRASH!
Rakim is The God Emcee! He introduced complex rhyme schemes and a flow that was unheard of. In my opinion, the #1 MC ever to grab the mic.
🙌🙌‼️‼️

Rakim....the God emcee. There's the rest and then Rakim. I've heard people compare him to THE god. I mean he's good and all, but he's no Rakim.
