Let us take a minute to appreciate the absolutely blazing drummer.
yep! James Maddren, he's a bad man
his pocket is solid
Let alone the bass player!!!
I was thinking just the same thing, so very simple, solid yet super groovy!!
My thinking exactly. Without the drummers there is no pocket. And Im a pianist...:). Same with Dirty Loops..he was doing the work, this little poping on the bass.....
Lets be honest.... the drummer and the bassist took this completely to a whole new level ...
What about the keyboards players?
So you never heard Jaco Pastorius or Anthony Jackson oh man
Jonah Nilsson is Dirty Loops keyboards, harmonica and vocal.
@@makumbolindo3566 what do you mean? he just said they were good ???
Bullshit.
That BASS!! 🤯
Rob friggin' Mullarkey! Awesome musician! :-)
Everyone give Rob some love, he deserves it! :)
exactly what i was thinking... of course Jacob and Jonan brights on this song... but that bass caught me by the heart
The sexiest Musical instrument. Not kidding.
so good. hear him inject some loose smoke during 2nd keyboard solo around 4:30
I like that they're just fucking around, not really taking it too seriously. Just having fun jamming on a song they both know but probably never really played it together, at least more than a few times. It's good to see musicians of this caliber remind you what it's really about.
Absolutely, this is what's all about, this is the way I grew up playing "MUSIC", real music and it's sad to see these caliber of musicians don't make a fifth of the money these "Rappers" make, borders on the edge of "Criminal"!
DAVID HALL they may not make as much money. But they get sponsorships from music companies which is super rad! Much better than being sponsored by clothing brands like those rappers lol. I totally agree with you! 👌🏻
@@elevatedaspirations They probably talkin about west coast rap with all the gang and womens and shit, real rap that people would wanna listen to is East cost rap.
Well, i think probably jacob is just better
Of course they’re having fun, but they also know exactly what they’re doing 👌🏼😍‼️ Dirty Loops are insanely skilled 🤩❣️❤️❤️❤️
4:57 Jacob’s mic couldn’t resist the pressure.
Everyone on that stage is musicialy extraordinary...
god this is so groovy, the bassist and drummer are on point, the lead singer is doing a fine job at keeping the vibe up, and jacob just being jacob.
The singer is Jonah, from 'Dirty Loops' and Dirty Loops' bassist, Henrik Linder is my favorite bassist. This guy's great too though!
ua-cam.com/video/r_GTgpdoCh0/v-deo.html
James Maddren is a monster drummer, have no doubt, and as for Robin Mullarkey on bass he’s off the charts. These guys are some of the best musicians in the U.K and I’m pleased to say we have a few!
Did you see Jacob clapping in 4/4?? He really is amazing 😂
03:19 Today I was able to confirm, Jacob is human.
yes
Which is even crazier.
That's just a bug that they found in alpha1. They thought it'd be funny to leave it in.
nah man he just has to slip up occasionally so that we don't get suspicious
@@abeharhar i trust this one
they really didn't want to clap their hands
Dumb ass crowd
Smart crowds don't clap. You can't hear the music if you clap.
Why should they? They payed their money to WATCH a show, not to BE the show lol. I too hate it when performers try and get me involved.
@@uraharamitchell7250 but whats the matter? its not like its stressful, just casually clapping along is quite fun actually, and you wont miss anything from the music either.
@@aladdinvonrabat183 I can empathise with what you are saying Prince Aladdin, this doesn't take away from the fact that I'm paying to see THEM, why do I need to help them with their performance? They don't do any of that at piano recitals...lol
That drums and bass holding these two crazies tho... 👌🏼
you need a good engine room and those two guys are killing it !!!!
THEE best drumnbass team 👍✌️🔥
That bass player is going crazy on that thing!!!
It's always a pleasure to see Jacob playing something that make any sense at all.
Helio Lago Jr. actually his music does make sense, it’s just harder for some people to understand
@@ijfilms7850 With "make sense" I mean, digestible. His is one-of-a-kind musician, but I cant listen more than 20 minutes of Jacob's experimental music.
@@HelioLagoJr ....well you should probably work on expanding your ears if think some of music doesn’t make sense...all of it makes sense when you know know what’s happening.
@@jackieclark8253 but the real question here is: would people understand JC song if he didnt explain then? Jacob is a supernatural musician and a complete artist. This is a fact. But most people only understand his music because of his explanation videos. That being said I repeat: Im his fan.
@@HelioLagoJr ....I wasn't trying to come across as a jerk or anything...I apologize if that was the case, but all it takes is gaining more knowledge of theory and continuing to listen to his music. It all makes sense even when some don't understand it is what I'm saying. Take some time and dive into theory and listen to more things outside of what's comfortable and you'll catch right up.
I'm not nearly the player he is,but I can understand what's happening because of knowledge of what's happening...being blessed with perfect pitch didn't hurt me either :-), but still having that knowledge and strengthening my ears by listening to more things outside of what I'm used to is what helped me so much. Take care!
Jonah teasing Jacob at 6:01 is the best thing ever! I am laughing so hard rn
That was so embarrassing
Yeah that's like the cringiest part in the whole song. I know Jonah wanted to make it funny but it just came off so wrong man. And he also couldn't find the sound he was searching for a little on later and that is why Jacob stopped, heard that something is going wrong. So he stoped not to make Jonah feel embarrassed. What a humble gesture.
@@RobyMBeki I thought it was awesome!
@@RobyMBeki I didn't think it was cringe at all, came off fine to me. That said, yes, something was fucking up with Jonah's keyboard, it got detuned or something, face of panic lol
@@RobyMBeki that's exactly what happened, I also think jonah couldn't keep up with jacob in that last part, that's why he did those gestures
4:31 Jacob quotes Lingus
The way Jake lays out is proof he is the groove master.
Wow, ok, so Jonah singing Steve Wonder, that´s one of the best fits I´ve heard so far... (and as usual, the inovativeness of Jonah and Jacob and all they touch is off the normal charts...). Love Jacob´s use of the harmonizer to back up Jonah´s lead. Both are great keyboard player, and the rhythm section is super groovy and tight.
The kitchen (bass & drums) here is just out of this world, amazing, simply amazing
OH MY GOD THIS COLAB EXISTS.... my life is complete.
hahaha I love how at 3:17 he fucked up and then just gave that look to the bassist like "lol whatever". Loved the music!
That’s what makes a good musician.. or a good... anything!
Variety and little mistakes are the spice of life XD
I'm also glad i saw Jacob messed up,, not that i want that..but he's human, finally 😄
Héctor Melicoff It was 3:30 in the morning on a hot night with Quincy Jones sitting in the front. ( I was five rows back) Its in the top 10 of my most enjoyable gigs, brilliant kids having fun. Dawn was up by home time.
Jeez even the mistake sounds right though lol
Over the horizon dude
Samsung has pretty good taste it seems
Both of the over the horizon dudes!
*dudes
Dirty Loops, homie.
im grossed out that a mere mortal like me gets to enjoy this much talent. Jacob and Jonah are god tier musicians
This is pure gold. I don't believe there's a better version of "Do i Do" than this.
Y'all gotta Agree... The bassist took the groove up a notch...
I love the fact that Jacob Collier it’s restless haha , he is awesome
I've never seen so much fun playing a song.
the addition of Mr.Greg Howe on guitar would make it a simple perfect 10 👍
This is phenomenal. They might make it look easy, but they’re not playing around here.
I really appreciate the effort Jonah is putting in here to really emulate Stevie's vocals. You can see him really using his face to eek out that almost whining sound that just sounds so much like him.
What a group of musicians, and an actually great take of Do I Do. Also Jonah is one of the chillest guys I've ever seen (of those who can seriously rip a song to pieces). When I saw DL, the whole band was just taking the mick out of each other the whole time. I think not putting up artificial barriers between music and humor or any other part of life is important to seeing music as just one more integral part of being alive. Like a balanced diet of human experiences.
The awesome James Maddren on drums. Played my little Sister’s wedding. Not only a top flight drummer but a Gent too.
And the poor man still has to do weddings to get by :(
Jacob's sheer confidence of ending the song with gibberish, is amazing!! A very attentive audience, he takes the gamble, utters gibberish, turns out to be fantastic! I am in lose of words. ifhnwringwrongi0jwrdi0gnfjowrjodgnqoeav
Jazz drummers are always out of this world. Unbelievably talented.
4:32 reminds me of snarky puppy lingus the piano solo. It's roughly around 6:13 in the music video for lingus.
And the synth part in chameleon also
5:05!!!
I don't know how many times I've watched this. 100 times maybe
Awesome musicians!!🤩 Henrik Linder is blowing my mind!! 😮 and the drummer 🤯 I’m not forgetting to mention the singer and keyboardist!! Uber talented!!😍🤩❤️❤️👍
hendrik isnt the bassist
Whole band is amazing. Jonah is very, very good. But Jacob is an extraterrestrial. Full stop.
4:57 mic drop.
Albin Söderbäck
This whole track is a continuous beat of micdrops.
2:56 Jonah just doing a solo without looking... Those guys are in another level
This is the kind of unbridled Funkadelic enthusiasm that reminds we 'mericans exactly what the world used to love us for.
I think that during Jacob's solo, from about 5:00 he started taking the band out of their comfort zone and that's why they had the sudden drop and from then on we were in Jacob's wild and brilliant world for a while.
I may be wrong though
The solo sounded really simular to the solo at Lingus from snarky Puppy
You could be right...there was a look of ‘ what was that’! Not to take away from each and every one of them.
You are right - this sounds like an impromptu ad-lib jam session!
Jacob Collier just vibing in the back lmao
oh my Gosh.. the bassist killing it like crazy..
Jonah Nilsson .... I do .... from France .... you're great ..
Robin Mullarkey killing it on bass with these two wizards! Not sure who's on kit? Groovin' though!
Ska House UK I believe they're the cats Jacob used to play with prior to the one man band.. Check out the song Ancona
Ah yes! All makes sense now! Saw Collier's one man band show recently at BOTW in Manchester - and then shortly after saw Richard Spaven (with Mullarkey on bass) - they all interlink! haha
Ska House UK he's the guy married to Natalie Williams right?
Nah I would’ve lost my shit If I was here 😭😭😭I cry every time I watch jazz live 😭😭this is so beautiful
Liked this instantly because I fell in love with the poorly recorded house party version first, now this is too good to be true! Thank You!
Dream team assemble! Such a level to play and deconstruct a song! Bass and drums are so refined and polished. I'm in love with this version. 🫀
Not only fantastic, this is so f contagious, Dam !
So you want the definition of cheeky? It’s Jacobs whole performance the whole way through. Love it!
Jacob Collier and Jonah Nilsson! Basically my favourite artists playing together (look up 'system' by Brotherly for some amazingness from Robin Mullarkey). James Maddren is new to me, and freaking great as well!
Bass and drums are killin it - who are they? How come they're not HUGE?
A combination we all wished!
Meu sonho ver Dirty Loops + Snarky Puppy + Jacob Collier!!!!
snarky puppy + jacob ja tem...
Going this year to a Snarky Puppy show! I’m so excited
I love the drummers faces. Hes just in the groove.
Feels like the whole thing is unrehearsed. Still it’s amazing. The groove becomes perfect at times. Imagine if they would have more time to tighten things up. Crazy band. :). Love it.
was just a jam!!...still nailed it!!!
It’s a JAM. That’s how jams are! Unrehearsed
Jonah NEVER has a mediocre bassist. Ever.
This is phenomenal!!!!
This is top-notch musical entertainment.
Nice group. This is what you get when musicians play straight.
3:55 jacobs backing vocals here ❤
5:05 Is this a quote from Cory Henry's solo on Lingus?
Hahaha yes
Jacob is Jacob, singer is excellent but that drummer & bass combo were killin' it! 👍
Why is this Jacob Collier feat. Jonah Nilsson, rather than the other way around? Either way, this kills!
Robin Mullarkey was touring with Jacob Collier last year! They have great dynamics together!
singer keyboard out of this world
Friggin slamming!!!
Wow! Both extremely great musicians!
(stands up for the end of the song - applause) Oh! A piano!! Just a chord...
Oh man, sooo much fun! 💛🔥❤️
Jonah crushes it live.
i've never heard a buncha mullarkey sound so good
This is just pure audio ecstacy!!! Bless all of you!
Beautiful
Can't believe I can't see anyone talking about this guys excellent Stevie Wonder impression
yeah!
Jonah and Jacob? ok, i can die in peace
1:07 omg that bassline :D
I LOVE THAT THIS ISNT PERFECT! THIS IS RAW AND ITS PERFECT!~!!
Freakin PIPES man, and they all sound so tight, what a great collab!!!
Jacob with Jonah... it's legend...
Y'ALL. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW🏆
Nobody keeps up with Jacob's mind.
That bassline tho! Groove & Pocket!
why did i miss such a great moment in Montreux? can t apologise me!! come back dear Jonah
I want to thank the person who mixed this audio
Ils m'emmènent loin ces deux gars là !!!! Excellents !....
I love how they are trying to one up each other to finish the song
World class! Fun fact! Jonah (and Dirty Loops) composed the 2016 version of the Samsung Galaxy series theme song "Over the Horizon" in 2016. Jacob did the 2017 version of the same theme!
Puke the perfection. You guys are terrific.
absolutely wonderfull, greatest musicians of our time...but change your title brother: its Jonah Nilsson featuring Jacob...not Jacobs gig, ablviously!
This is my favorite Stevie song ever
When you can't focus what to focus because it's great put all together. Grooves, bass and drums, keys. Man.. 😂
bass shines here as well as the keyboards
All the musicians here are so talented.
It’s nice to feel that essence of the dirty loops vibe in a different way, . Dope collab
No doubt, that drummer could play with closed eyes and all day and not sweating.
The two geniuses
Awesome use of TC Helicon Perform-VE on the vocoded vocals! Glad I gave it to you Jacob :-)
I’ve only just discovered these guys. Incredible . I’m a newbie , don’t hate
