Unfortunately you won't be able to eliminate bully towards the gay community in schools, ever probably. There is just too much going on in society, in families, kids brain development, peer pressure, cultures etc. As the young people said, it's best to ignore bullying and report it to teachers. I know theres a push to be able to express yourself however you like at whatever age you want, but honestly, just wait quietly until you're passed highschool, then literally no one cares if you're gay.
That is simply not true. With the right education, and with broader societal change, the school can be a supportive environment. I worked as a school teacher for many years and have seen real progress. And as for 'literally no one caring if you're gay'.... that's exactly what we are asking for.
Yeah.... that's a BIG *No* to waiting quietly. They gave the same advice to women and people of colour before they gave it to the LGBTQ community and it's never worked. Speak up. Say something. Don't accept anything that's not good enough. The bullies don't have to, why should you? That's the whole point of PRIDE; it's the opposite of shame and hiding in the shadows.
@@dama9150 As someone commented below 'there's no need to declare your sexual orientation', that's what I meant about being quiet. I didn't mean to stay in the corner and be invisible. @@Bathrezz1 When we have a situation where gender and sexuality is genuinely respected and not relevant, then we will not need to talk about it. But we are not at that point, so we need to be outspoken so that people learn that it is normal. As such this issue is not comparable to the vegan religion.
Unfortunately you didn't cover the fact that the age of consent is not equal between states. Most states the age of consent is 16 and yet South Australia and Tasmania still have the age of consent set for 17. South Australia used to be progressive and Tasmania has often seen backwards and yet both of them can't keep up with the age of consent across the country. You shouldn't have people in a situation where they can get in trouble purely because the age of consent has changed when you cross the border. I think the age of consent should probably be set by federal government not state government as this is a thing that affect all people regardless of the state they live in.
People are free to do what they like in their personal space Its rude and disrespectful to gather in the street with crutchless undies on making revolting gestures and disregarding other people who are not like you If you want people to accept you for who you are don't flaunt yourself or try to protest to impress your sexuality preferences on them as you would not like them to impress their sexuality preferences on you Acceptance of each other's differences works both ways And it's not a culture change in 2023 it's a behaviour change and bad behaviour is never acceptable
It still amazes me one feels the need to declare their sexual orientation? It's private and should remain so. Live and let live. By feeling the need to declare it, is saying, I'm not comfortable when you should feel comfortable, whatever way you lean. Effectively, don't make life difficult for yourself by feeling the need to explain to anyone. It's none of their buisness 🤔
