When I deleted my social media apps I noticed I had a lot more time. I realized that there are other things I can fill my time with, like reading, watching my favorite tv shows, going outside, listening to podcasts, and journaling. I feel SO much more happier with my life and fulfilled.
Quitting facebook is not giving up, it's choosing to focus your attention on something more important. Quitting facebook is not losing confidence, it's realizing that there are more valuable ways you can spend your time. Quitting facebook is not making excuses, it's learning to be more productive, efficient and effective. Quitting facebook is letting go of things (or people) that are sucking the life out of you so you can do more things that will bring you strength and peace . Before I was really scared of quitting facebook at first. I thought I would miss out on a ton of things. It actually turned out to be the best choice I've ever made . Don’t dwell on what went wrong, Never allow anything to distract you , Instead focus on your actions towards to your goals and spend your energies ,on moving forward ,toward finding the answer.
You're so right. It was honestly so refreshing to take a break from social media for a bit. It was a breath of fresh air having so much for free time. Thanks so much for watching!
I’m 31 and I just recently took a break from social media. I feel like everything is a freakin competition 24/7! Everyone is trying to be something that they’re not and it’s annoying. I agree, I don’t want to give everyday updates of my life to people who I’m not even friends with in real life lol. They don’t get to be nosey and need to know what’s going on with me.
I remember getting hurt over posting something and not getting enough likes or comments. Remember myself posting something very important and valuable to me and getting nothing back from people. No one cared. Then I'd see a bunch of likes and comments on someone's page of the meal they cooked and I was like: really? I'm posting real stuff here and getting ghosted by everyone and this guy/girl gettin hundred likes for posting a damn medium rare steak? Withdrawing from social media helped me to remove that distraction, remove comparing myself to others and their social status. I really just stopped caring and moved on other things in life. Trying to validate yourself via social media will get you nowhere.
I totally agree, I never really started with the whole social media thing, I know myself and I know I would be spending way too much effort on it. My friends keep telling me I should create an account but I don't really see the point of it. The most important people are in my phone and the ones I hear from are the ones who are important anyways. I once read a study on it, and like you said it can be tough sometimes being confronted with the "picture perfect" lives of others all the time, and having to meet up to that standard in a way. My sister has a facebook, and when she broke up with her boyfriend she got into a heavy depression. Closure can be very difficult there since you can constantly see updates on the other persons life, see pictures of them being happy and all that, she just couldn't resist the urge of constantly checking up on him. So she was down the hole for quite some time. I actually think the whole social media thing is a bad development for our society, it's fine when you have a happy life and all that, but for people who are depressed in life, or people who are insecure, it's a really bad thing to have access to, and the extra pressure it brings to those people. Not to mention ones who take home the bullying from school and get bullied further on their social media. Maybe when I'm 25 or so I'll create an account, when my environment has matured and it's less of a constant thing, but right now I'm not getting into it. Anyways, that's some of my opinion on it, great vid!
steven Claessen I appreciate how thoughtful this comment was, I feel the same way. Thanks so much for watching! Hopefully one day things will settle down haha
You seem really young and wise 🙏🏼 I also quit social media months ago with the exception of WhatsApp (work related) & UA-cam (which is more like an entertainment app for me haha). For me it‘s the same reason, I felt like I wasn’t participating in my own life and "owing" people to be there for THEIR lives. If anything important happens I‘m still there but just not on platforms that exist for excessive self-presentation 🤔
You are so beautiful! ❤ I agree with everything you said, sweetie. Life is precious and we need to make the most of every moment given to us. Social media makes that impossible. You are either fully in the real life or it is social media that has your attention. There is no in between. That's how I see it. I was at that point too where I had to choose between social media and the real life... and like any conscious person would do, I of course chose the real life and ended up getting rid of all social media. God bless you! ❤
Lady Mariana thank you so much! It’s crazy how much social media consumes you, props to you for being able to remove yourself from it! Thanks for watching❤️
Good for you young lady. I'm 52 and realized recently that I needed to go on a Facebook diet. Given all the political and social issues going on I kept feeling drawn into and needing to respond to every single post that either I liked or disagreed with, to the point that it was increasing my level of stress and anxiety. Finally, I got to the point that I realized I needed to stop scrolling through all the posts. I call it a diet and not a fast because I haven't completely gotten off of it. For me, personally, that seems rather drastic. I simply allow myself to make a post every so often if I feel like it. But I won't spend more than a minute or two looking through other people's postings. As soon as I do I can feel the energy shift, and just like that I'm out of there. Not worth falling back into the old habits that zap my time and vitality... It's been nearly three years since you made this video. I wonder if you managed to stay off all social media? I really do think it's a very healthy decision and hope that your life has become healthier and more fulfilling without it. Best....
@@One21Jiggawatts Right. You know what works best for you. For me, it's a been only a week and considering that it can be hard at time because I do miss interacting with my contacts on FB so far I'm doing well to not spend any time on there. I feel that I may just gradually let go of it completely, or post very sporadically. The important thing is to give my mind the space to allow myself to feel centered and attending to the things in my life that really matter. Glad you made the decision to take back your time from social media. Take care....
I turned my phone off for 10 hours yesterday. I went into the town without my phone and didn't have a problem. I'm glad I was able to run errands without the need of my phone.
Good for you. I only ever leave the house with an old nokia phone that I would use for an emergency, that nobody has the number to. We have friends, but there is no need to be on 24 hour call out for them 😊
You did good, cyber media will just take us away from reality, cyber reality is fake and dangerous to our normal lives! but youtube is still cool because you can make some $$ lol have a nice day, new sub here!
A Day With Shay hey! So I ended staying off social media for about 6 months but it was so cleansing to be off of it that long! If you can delete all of yours and stay off it props to you, I wish I had the willpower to do that permanently (:
I am a 35 year old man that are very addicted to Instagram and Social Media Addicition. So i am need to get away from it. Any good advice to replace it with other hobbies? Any suggestions and advice would have been so helpful for me:)
Interesting. I thought youtube was social media too, because of everyone commenting, but i guess as nobody here knows each other, it's not? The thing is, people you know, that know your youtube channel, they can look here to find things to hate on or ridicule. Many people have no life. If they did they would be happy and only have nice things to say about others. I was bi-polar for a couple of years and got things off my chest on facebook - public view. Totally the wrong thing to do but bi-polar is a mental disorder that makes people act out of character. However - amazingly, ranting on about being bullied in the past etc. cured me of severe depression which went on for 25 years! So if anyone has to rant on social media - make sure you don't actually say any lies - That way no one can take you to court. As for bullies - If you want people to say nice things about you, treat them nice ❤
first of all u have a cute face and second you are not crazy people who spent their life on these platforms are and i was one of them now i'm kind free

Yes exactly....they are competing with each other....big house.....expensive holiday trips.....
I definitely understand. I love social media especially UA-cam, but I feel like sometimes it can cause stress, especially if you have hw haha
I recently deactivated/deleted my social media accounts and I 100% agree with everything you said. Love this video.

Stone W I tried that, but it kept creeping back in when friends would want to PM me or invite me to events. I went full delete on Facebook.
