As a millennial that do not care much about politics, I think this is a good way for me/millennials/GenZ to learn and know more about our minister in a candid way. As house visit/meet the people session/market visit usually target middle age/seniors, we young people seldom care much about politics and ministers.. so I think this video is really great to get us involved and capture our attention of the current affairs.. thumbs up for this ep👍🏻
very soon singaporeans locals popualtion is minority, gov say forgieners good good but they cannot be ministers cause they compete with minister rice bowl. They only can compete with you locals who are like sotong, locals report to your forginers boss now,if not we replace you locals with our own countryman.
He is surprisingly more affable and down to earth than I thought. I guess all these years he has been painted in a bad light due to the way he carries himself or the way he talks. Great episode 👏
I know people who have worked with him for years, way before his bad reputation in the last election came. He has always been like that, and is not doing this now for PR. Yes it was the result of politicking by some people and even by certain media /press. People always say he ah Beng, stupid. Just search for how he answers real questions with at international seminars, and at interviews with agencies like Bloomberg. Those people always say the Govt is trying to brainwash us through press. But actually the reverse is true. There is still a silent majority, not because they are stupid but because they bother to look beyond what is sensational and fashionable.
Solid episode. But what really struck me was how 'in' Min Chan was. Being of an entirely different age it must not come second nature for him to know the pain points of young content creators like TDK, but he still took the time to ask questions and understand. Guess that's what it takes to be a minister, kee chiu man!
this might actually be it, the content that every singaporean has been waiting for. a somewhat unfiltered talk show with a minister. really amazing. really want to see minister shanmugam come onto here!
Minister Chan is always very diligent, humble, sincere and authentic. He is able to explain the profound in simple terms. His heart is at the right place. He is a blessing to the nation indeed.
Love it when he emphasized that you won't always get what you want in life. Mastering and making the best of whatever opportunity is given to you, is a lost art. Especially in today's culture where pursuing what you "want" is deemed as a more noble thing.
Great show. Minister CCS is a good sport and highly intelligent public servant. while he may not be eloquent but his heart for singapore is more important.
Great episode, minister Chan is a very down to earth man. I used to be from the public service and have heard many great things about him from my ex colleagues.
Out of all the ministers I was actually rooting for him to be PM. SINGAPORE needs to have someone who is tough. Ex COA, to lead in the next decade or 2. Unfortunately people decided to fault him for cotton wool issue
I like Minister Chan Chun Sing because he is so down to earth. He is actively creating very smart SG of the future because he encourages lifelong study
Thank God for such a great down to earth minister that is humble, approachable and very friendly. How blessed it is to be Singaporeans and all those who live in Singapore. May God bless Singapore continue to grow strong and be a good example and also a great blessing to many other countries.
I have never seen this side of min Chan before . Thanks for this episode to let us know more about him . I really like him now because I can judge by what I see now rather than hearing from negative news about people.
Didn’t expect a minister to be able to engage with the group here so causally since I always see them representing SG more formally. Love the rapport and conversation!
Yes he is a very down to earth person, raised by a single mom... i wont call it riches but he is a "rag to minister" kind of story.... really work hard and be recognised
Thanks YT for throwing this into my algorithm. In the past, I used to somewhat dislike him and laughed at his gaffes, but all it took was him saying "I'm artistically challenged" to get me weak🤣 CCS seemed so relaxed, candid and in his element here, interacting so colloquially. Dude seems like one of us
Thanks guys for another amazing episode, down to earth and it’s very refreshing to see this side of ministers and the people that seem so “far” away from us.
I am so impressed. A Msian here and I follow Spore ministers quite closely.. the cabinet is a little bit like the Vatican's College of Cardinals. This is the most candid and relaxed interview of any Sporean minister.
He's always been a true blue Singaporean and one of us - meaning not particularly eloquent and good at public speaking. Didn't have a good first impression of him until I worked as a musician for some events he was the guest for. He is one of the very few ministers who will acknowledge and thank you for working with them. On the contrary, there are some MPs on the lower rungs that will treat the crew as completely invisible. Also glad to hear he attends service regular, thank God for having a badass like that in the government.
Love it when your ministers can be down to earth just chatting and showing the are just regular citizens unlike on our side (you noisy neighbour) where they act like gods or watsoever
Lol.. the stunned like banana look on minister's face when Denise shared abt the period and pad podcast.😂 It's his relatability and easy going manners that makes him so likeable.
being a minister in Singapore is a really hard job, these people can easily make at least 3x their pay in private sector with better work-life balance but they still decided to take on the hard job for the nation.. really respect max
Really? I always thought being a minister is one of the highest paying job (apart from self employed), understandably to prevent corruption. The benchmark for an entry-level MR4 Minister is based on the median income of the top 1,000 Singapore citizens income earners.
@@SethyTan no lah. Their pay got cap one. Private sector no cap. Ex minister George Yeo now earning 6 to 10 mil a year in private sector where being a minister cap at 1.1mil a year some more not every year hit max cap 1.1mil.
@@SethyTan nope not at all. I have a close friend who became an MP in 2020. He is currently running a constituency and having a day job. He has taken a pay cut to be an MP, and it entails a lot of sacrifice. Basically it is a calling. Btw MPs (at least with PAP) have to be approached, and not volunteered. Of course one has the choice to reject it as well. For my friend, he agreed with the calling and wanted to serve. He could easily have stayed on in his cushy career where he can work less and get paid a lot more in the long run. People always say MPs are overpaid. But honestly, the very brilliant people (suitable for government) often have a lot of career options. ANd even if minister pay can just match those pays, not all will take up. It is a huge responsibility and a LOT of work and commitment. In fact even the existing ministers can easily earn more outside if they stayed in their fields, and have better lifestyles. People also so, govt job shouldnt be about pay. But if this is the reality and proven to be effective in attracting talents, then it is. People also forget that if you talk about US government and senators, their main pay is not from the office itself. But their own businesses and in the president's case, even book endorsements, talks, sitting on boards of companies etc. ANd it has more been proven then if pay is low and if there are no side gigs, corruption comes in.
Great content! Minister Chan seems like a great person to be around. Comes across as a down-to-earth and practical person. Hope to see more prominent politicians on this podcast.
Minister CCS is really by nature very down to earth man, thumbs up!! One feedback I feel too many people talking at the same time, they should have allowed Minister CCS to answer their qns without overlapping each other. Otherwise I really enjoy this episode 😁
This episode gave me a very jood impression of Chan Chun Sing. He is so down to earth n humble n a good man. I trust this Minister he is so naturally kind.👍👍👍👋👋
Singapore chooses very carefully their Minster’s and I am of the opinion they are all very well educated, smart and most importantly up to the job! That’s one of the key factors for Singapore success and wish more countries would follow their lead. Greetings from Ireland!
Good PR move coming on here. Appreciate his candid-ness. Apparently he's really like this as education minister but his initial public image rubbed people like me the wrong way. Thanks for this ep guys, it was a really easy listen.
Fantastic podcast...thank you. I had always thought that Minister Chan had the common touch. This podcast simply proved it beyond doubt. I was also very happy and impressed at how the 4 millennials were so comfortable and relaxed with the Minister. This speaks volumes about the absolutely positive future for Singapore's democracy. Would be good to see a podcast featuring an opposition MP...Sylvia Lim? Pritam Singh? (ex MP) Loh Thia Khiang? (future MP but super popular) Nicole Seah? Thanks guys...look forward to the next one! 👍🙂
@@Brainiac5 Well, I think some of them might think that they are "the boss" which they are not. They are in fact public servants. A very good man.
There was once I met Min Chan at a market... The way that he stood and chat with the store owners just showed how often he visits them.
