And she would tell me, "why don't you just stay with me" And I remeber her saying about grandpa, "Lord he moves so slow, supper be on the table an 1/2 hour ago" I have never hurd a song that would bring so many child hood memories, like this song..Every time I here it it takes me back to Amarillo,Texas 1961..I even spilt cherry coke on my new cowboy cloths. My Grandpa built there own house and rased cow. He worked hard every day..I love him & miss him very much..Thanks James McMurtry
An American epic put to song--complete with all the usual dehumanizing insults and put-downs that in the wrong place and the wrong time can come to seem almost normal, but that soon enough make a town seem too damned small. A great song that, ironically, can never be performed in public, but only lives on here and on the CD, as a bookend to "60 Acres," which puts things and the grandma into some perspective. It can't be performed because some jerk in the back of the crowd just isn't going to get it and just might hoot at the wrong time. But, even so, everything is here, all sandwiched into the most plaintive love song you ever did hear. Listen up, America! James McMurtry is playing our song.
+b carden It's where someone would buy beauty supplies/get their hair and stuff done. Forth worth is a town in Texas, so south west of ft worth is a directional heading.
