Mixolydian is (one of) my favourite(s). So I fancy Dr. Bull's My Selfe immensely. Bull's Goodnight (G-ionian) is a jolly counterpart - I like this one very much too. Mr Watchorn's execution is fully enjoyable, sensitive, beautiful (again). Thank you very much.
The sensitivity of the performer is both beautiful and subtle. Perfect for this kind of writing. Additionally, the voicing on each chord is just perfect. Very difficult to do on a harpsichord.
I saw that you put a Charles Gounod piece on a while back, his st. Cecelia Mass. Do you think you could also put his Redemption oratorio on? Would love to here that.
@@TGMGame My internal tuning seemed to have shifted at some point in the past few years because these compositions sound like they are in the keys that they were composed in! It legit drives me crazy.

How would you describe Mixolydian - quietly happy or something?
@@neilwalsh1213 Yes, very close to that. To me mixolydian sounds modest, noble, solid, sometimes even quiet, but always very happy.
@@csababekesi-marton2393 It's strange how modes have these strong feelings, something the Baroque theorists were on to, I think.
Wow amazing
Fantástica Obra del período Tudoriano. Joyas Musicales.

Beautiful!!!
No 7 is so beautiful : )
Thanks for reminding me again about the In nomine.

That tuning 🤤

Why the hapsichords were once tuned a semitone downwards?
It’s the tuning system they used back then in the baroque era. All instruments were tuned that way back then.
Are you hearing this tuned down a half step?
@@erika6651 yes. that was normal for this time period. in the period before this, they tuned a half step higher than how we tune today!
@@TGMGame My internal tuning seemed to have shifted at some point in the past few years because these compositions sound like they are in the keys that they were composed in! It legit drives me crazy.
@@erika6651 trust me, it hasnt. the modern tuning system has only been a thing since the 1900's
Lisztian difficulty in this Renaissance era? Wow, so fascinating
