Libby (Ashley Judd) and Matty (Spencer Treat Clark) reunite.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this thriller, Ashley Judd plays Elizabeth Parsons, who is convicted of murdering her husband and sentenced to a long stretch in prison. After Elizabeth has spent six years behind bars, it turns out that her husband is still alive: he faked his own death as part of an insurance scam, and Elizabeth is soon released. However, Elizabeth's feelings for her husband can hardly be described as warm, and she wants custody of her son. Elizabeth's parole officer (Tommy Lee Jones) wonders if she might try to make his murder a real thing after all, especially since the law states a person cannot be convicted of the same crime twice. Double Jeopardy was directed by Bruce Beresford, from a screenplay by Douglas S. Cook and David Weisberg.

I'm a 40 something man and this clip made me cry in 1999 and it still makes me cry now. It's an emotional ending
Now that im a mom this scene makes me tear up. You try so hard to care for your kids and people just want to take them away
In the end the true victim of this film is Matty

@@lauraveapi3840 I am a woman and I don’t completely agree with that. There are so many different situation. As much as there are fathers that don’t like their kids or abandon them, there are some mothers that are the same. I have seen first hand a mother that didn’t want their child but the father did but they ruled for the mother. The law is not perfect. Women have the ability to have and create humans, we shouldn’t blame the Men because they don’t have the ability to do that. I blame them when they don’t take serious the magnitude of it, but we shouldn’t blame them for just giving the sperm. Does that make sense? Lol

I forgot about the whole freeze frame thing at the end of the movies lol. The stole everything from his wife and son, because he wanted to be rich. SMH
Imagine that after your mom was sentenced to jail for a crime she didn't commit and then you never see her again for 7 years or maybe decades, or your whole life.
I had a friend who had a friend who was 99 years old, and the senior citizen said that his mother was sentenced to prison for a crime she didn't commit and he has never seen her since. He was 8 years old when that happened. Unfortunately, the old man died a year ago.
He had no love for his mom that prevents him from seeing her. However, this story hurts me more than hurting the mother and son.

I really enjoy this movie, but that kid looks nothing like the younger version of Matty. The younger version was blond and this one has red hair. Both are cute though.
Tbh, Spencer probably had his hair dyed for this movie. His real hair is pretty much nearly blonde; watch him in Gladiator, you'll see. And also, most kids who are blonde as toddlers normally end up having their hair turn brunette when they get older.

This movie has far bigger problems than that.
I believe....except in cases of documented abuse...ANY parent who moves or takes a child away from the other parent should burn in a special place in hell. You may viscerally HATE your mate, but that won't serve your child in any way.
What if your dad left the country, left your mother in Maryland, where temperatures drop often drop below 0 in winter, I in a house where the heater is broken, no food, no money... and your dad had another kid with another woman... So my mother shouldn't burn in hell, she should be rewarded... and she already has...

Ya im not a fan of my kids dad but he could see them i wouldn't stop him. Hes just a deadbeat that doesnt care or make the effort to. I never understood bitter custody battles. Just seems stupid to me

ER K People like to use their kids as pawns. They will try and keep the kid from seeing the other parent because they are bitter with their ex. A lot of the time they have no legal right to do it, so it ends up being a custody battle in court. Smh and it’s child that suffers the most from it.

In this scene we have ex-harvey dent (aka two face) and lucius the nephew of the future joker (only who watched gladiator will understand it) 😳
It’s a great ending and well acted by everyone. However now the kid has to adjust to mom being alive a dad being dead as well as a murder. Kids gonna have issues. And isn’t this TLJ 3rd fugitive movie? Although this one was better than the other 2
This is not part of that series. And the first one, with Harrison Ford, is FAR superior to the sequel, or this dud.
The kid need no adjustment to his dad's love, for there is none. His dad has only love for money.
Then kid turns around to see all the other kids awkwardly staring at him.

If it was my over-inquisitive 4 year old daughter she'd be like "So why aren't you dead? Where did you come from? Who is that man you came here with?" Then a swift "Why?" after every answer I give. Not that she's cold lol, she is just always curious about the how comes and the whys.

My mom and dad got divorce, some things went down and I didn't see my dad for 8 yrs I'm 16 just started seeing him again when I was 15 had seen him since I was 7, I never saw him....for 8 yrs and then now that I've been seeing him for a year she kicked me out at 15 and now I live with him....
I'd like to recommend this movie to all the mothers out there, please go check this out. Double Jeopardy.

Such great acting ruined by such incompetent directing. As a person with Asperger's even I can't watch this movie without constantly thinking "that's not how a real person would react to that". It's like the king of the aspies directed this flaming turd.
Not to mention that almost nothing in the film resembles anything that would happen in reality.
@@handle-schmandle if it did, it would be a documentary. It's a movie, made for entertainment. the acting was great for all the cast. The whole DC, Marvel, and other such franchises, are all made with nothing resembling reality. And now so many movies are CGI'd to death. Nothing is real.
@@tallman4040 We all know that superhero movies are fantasy. This is a drama, which is supposed to bear some resemblance to reality. Every plot twist in this movie requires a tremendous suspension of disbelief, and it happens multiple times. This scene for example. She just killed the kid’s father, but she’s allowed to just go pick him up at school? Really? Bad, bad movie.
