Insane challenge...BUT when I played 3d shooters on N64 when it came out, forward/back/left strafe/right strafe is handled by the C buttons while look up/down turn left/right were handled by the joystick. Then you can keep tacticals, lethals and streaks mapped to the d pad.

There are 8bitdo replicas of the SNES and NES controllers for pretty cheap and Nintendo sells autentic PC compatible versions of the NES and SNES controller. Also, there is a way to configure the Wii Controller to use the motion controls, which would make aiming a lot better.
The N64 Hyperkin USB adapter on Amazon is what I used to connect it to PC. But there's knock off N64 controllers that already have a USB connection that you could buy as well
You have to open Steam Big Picture and edit your controller binds through the controller tab. The A B X Y buttons are slightly different on Switch so those are the only ones you have to remap. Only Steam works though because the X360 emulator doesn't seem to be compatibale with Switch controllers so BattleNet won't recognize it either

i know old video idk why youtube recommends old videos again, to fix the stick drift you have to open up the controller and replace the module because the plastic wore out which causes the stick drift in all the controllers from the original joysticks to modern ps5 and xbox sex/s controllers, i recommend hall effect module for the n64 with the gamecube joystick, youll thank me later, if you do another n64 controller challenge again.
