Hi Greg, Love this song and its bass line. Thanks for doing it. I learned that I was short cutting the line . Great playing. I am late in catching up to your videos and transcriptions. Thanks Frank
Played disco/dance clubs for years back in the late 70s. Every so often we'd drop this in the set around 10pm on a Saturday Night without warning and the place would explode. Always thought a key modulation would've been nice at that break around 2:50, but we never got around to trying it. Wonderful work, as always, Greg!
Thanks for the comment. I can totally picture what you described. Ahhh...what a feeling to have the place go nuts when you're playing...big smiles :) Thanks!
Dude your bass cover instructions are the best! Seriously. The clear fretboard visual, the tabs and notation that go along with the song. I've learned fooled around and fell in love, jungle love, and now this song in about an hour or less each. I'm in a cover band and we stay busy. You save me many hours trying to figure out the songs by ear. You are a bad ass bass player; thank you!!!
Thank you Greg. The use of a pick on this song, combined with the steady 1/8-note pattern, really made it pop! As you can see, I like to request songs that give you a good workout (think "Devil With a Blue Dress On"). 🤗
Just start out playing the root note (you can see the key in Greg's tablature). Get comfortable with staying with the right key and staying in meter (not slowing down or speeding up but staying perfectly on tempo). Once you're there you can start trying to add in the "true" bass line...you'll get it. Like Greg said, you'll be surprised what playing through that song a few times and getting the feel for it. Go for it, David!
Thank you for another Dee classic. What an ass kicking song !!!
haha...it's a butt kicker for sure! Thanks Gary!

Hey Frank :) Thanks very much ;)
I have rediscovered Elton John several times thanks to you Greg. And with this song, once again.
Hey Juan, I'm glad you've rediscovered him. I have huge respect for him as a singer and song writer and he always had a good band! Have fun with it :)

Another great video...Thank you.
Thank you.
Who says eighth notes can't be TOTALLY rock and roll? Dee Murray was SO good!
So good! 8ths are totally rock and roll. 16ths are funky, and triplets and swung 8ths are bluesy or jazzy...in a simple way of looking at it :)
Another awesome song! This is one of my favourite songs by Sir Elton john. Keep up the good bass work.
Thank you Jason, I'll try ;)
I wish I could play like that!! ... 'Top job mate'! .. Cheers
Thanks very much :) You'd be surprised at what some practice and not giving up will do! I wish you luck :)
