God bless you! The ECM on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee was only 3 years old and the mechanic was telling me it was bad for this same reason. I was about to buy a new one when I saw your video. I checked my MAP sensor and the wires had old electrical tape on them that was unraveling and bare wires touching each other!!! I did a better fix on the wires and Wala! The Jeep runs great again! I will say this. You are Da MAN!
I owe you on this one brother, you nailed the problem that has had me scratching my head the few hours , even had to drop my fuel tank to unplug it , You Rock brother !
Hey bro That just happened to me in my 2003 Tahoe . I got that cold air intake and my wires were just like yours . I wanna thank you for this video . Your a blessing
Thank you. I have an '02 Mustang, but I DID move the mass-air around and now my PCM fuse blows, but only AFTER I turn the key to the "ON" position (no cranking over). Not sure I have the same issue, but you have given me a great new place to check 🐱 EDIT: DUUUUUUUUDE.. You da MAN! Sure enough, I had a wire to my MA under the fender that had insulation stripped and shorting to ground. Fixed the wire and then cut some space and rounded sheet metal over. Thank you for resolving an issue I have been wrestling over the course of a couple weeks.
Thanks for the video. Especially on the update. I didn't change the alternator but I did rewire my MAF, EVAP, TB sensor and Heated PCV. More people need to post follow up
Dude, thanks so much for getting to the point of the problem. After two days of watching videos, and trying different things. You had my problem spotted!!! Electrical tape and problem is solved for now. 😂😂😂😂
Bro good job figuring this out most ppl wouldn’t but plz cut that wire and repair it correctly or you’ll have the same problem one day or worse. U can cut all those wires off the mass air flow connector and get the same pig tail connector and splice it in it will work forever if you splice it heat shrink it and put plastic weatherproof over over it. Not tryna knock u brother u did a good job just finish the repair properly
You saved me from being stranded my Jeep Wrangler did the exact thing. As soon as I changed that fuse it started. I blew another one then I started to check the wires and tape them. After I taped them it kept running and I made it home. My battery post was touching a metal park of the jeep I think that didn't help either so it was the wires themselves or the battery post touching that metal
Haha man this how my driveway looks I was dying on that part too. This vid is very helpful. Just shows that it can be anywhere in any of them lil spots you'd never think to check
Fucking A!!! I been going crazy tryna find the short to mine. Thanks alot man I'm gonna go check that out right now and even if that's not the problem I know where to start. Glad you got your truck fixed I know this is like 4 or 5 years later or somthing but it's helped me alot
Bro good video, I believe mine is shorting on the plug that goes to the back of the alternator. It is showing a little open wire. New throttle and fuel pump later though, lol
@keante burks brother i have a 2003 infinti g35 and for some reason my 15 amp fuse keeps blowing when i try to start the car .. its only 1 fuse that keeps blowing but when i put a new 15 amp fuse in it works for a day or 2 then it blows it up just 1 fuse the 15 amp and it cranks but car won’t start any suggestions
Was your truck starting, cranking,or turning over?....my truck keeps blowing the 40 A ignition fuse. I get no response at all from the key. Ac and lights allninterior do work. As soon as I insert the key and turn it blows the fuse. I will use your vid as a reference, but also in your opinion what would you suggest I do? I have a 97 k1500 Thanks in advance
I always carry some self amalgamating tape or silicone tape. Same thing. You just stretch it around the wire anywhere you need to insulate wiring. Works better than electrical tape and won't come undone with engine heat or water splashing on it.
Wassup big wavy ray...I check my mass air flow sensor wires ...two of the bare wires are showing but there not touching metal ...my pcm fuse keeps blowing along with my sensor 1 fuse...
Audi a4 b8 I first had a blown fuse in the ecubox but after replace the fuse the car did not start again . Ihave to take pushed the key to crank but no start help me reply me
Thanks for sharing and taking time to help uplift a dumbass musician trying to get to a gig. I think I I find my fuel pump short but I'm suspicious that it's not the right one or one of many but master flow wires and anything oatoynd engine dealing with heat and chemical and vibration breaking down the wire makes sense.
lol @ all the 15a fuses on the floor!! I'm trying to figure out why that 15a fuse had a draw to it, but I pulled it and it went away, but I put the fuse back in and the draw is now gone??
My dad has the same problem with our 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ. The master computer (PCM) fuse keeps on burning out when we go off-road and hit a big bump. It's probably the wiring. The insulation tube must be torn.
Same year wrangler, owned by bosses son: The end issue was 2 parts: 1. Loose positive lead TO THE UNDERHOOD RELAY BOX. Super super sensitive. 2. The bulkhead wiring connector, from the underhood power distribution box to the firewall and bolts together. Turns out some gasket or greasy stuff or some just gnarly nasty sticky gunk was packed up inbetween the firewall side and the interior side. Think like, electrical wire greening but damp? I know that doesnt make a ton of sense. The upside is if you are suffering that issue still, cleaning the bulkhead connector with about 100 Q tips and rubbing alcohol(engine off/battery 100% disconnected) solved EVERY intermittent issue that wrangler had. Was also experiencing shift interlock/anti theft random activations. Sometimes the A/C would run the compressor but NOTHING else. Just compressin gas, no blower/no mode doors. Interior courtesy lights were blowing left right and center along with rear tail lights/third brake light. Rare times when I have actually encountered a same year vehicle with maybe a same issue Ive fixed. I know that wiring gremlin frustration well. Hope your issue was way less involved OR this info at least fine tunes whatever issue you maybe or maybe arent facing!

fourbypete were did you buy the tape from
WavvyTech82 most car parts stores have it. Also, most service stations have it. It cost me $1.50 aud a roll.
Ok
you can also take some heat sink tubing, cut it down the middle put it on the wire and heat it up.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊thank you, going to try it
Thanx for the heads up. Good work
This works thanks for the video
Welcome
Thanks, I am going to check those wires on the mass air flow sensor. Maybe that will help me clear those monitors.
Great video!
Did Google tell you about trash cans and how trash goes in them?
Nice job on finding the problem 👍

Might be from the fuel pump
How did you find the short, the process please,

Well how do you find a shorted wire when they’re all wrapped in a sheeth and buried everywhere?
On that you gone have to look at the wiring diagram and trace each wire to where it's going or look wire by wire
Ive noticed that they are putting heavy lag on certain videos

Sterling Witherspoon you got a short some where or wires touching
that's why you leave the factory air filter, so stupid shit like this doesn't happen
Oh do you say
If you would have left the factory air breather on it you would have NEVER had the issue you or who EVER put that on there created.
Yea u right big dog
My 2006 explorer keeps blowing a fuse and has burned up 3 coil packs. Ran perfect before. Is it a Ground? Anybody had this problem? Would appreciate any advice
Blowing a fuse is over current so check your wiring.
Yes, don't buy Ford trucks.
If i find a chewed up wire...
and my truck starts....
Would your car crank with the blown fuse?
daniel Nope it wouldn't start
WavvyTech82 wouldn't START but would it crank at all.
Yes it would turn over but wouldn't crank
American car is the worst ,the most unreliable piece of shit ever
That does not give you more horsepower lol
Yes it do, just not as much
