Tornadoes in Texas in December are wild, but honestly, it’s not that surprising with our crazy weather. One day it’s freezing, the next it’s 80 degrees, and that warm air colliding with cold fronts is the perfect recipe for storms. Gotta love Texas!
Friends of ours survived the tornado that hit northeast of Dallas a few years ago. We're all from cold weather states, so it's surreal to think "tornado" in December.
Unfortunately, we don't know what one day is gonna be like from another. 😢 We are living in some perilous, unforeseen, unpredictable times. P.S. Weather here in Florida is also unpredictable. One week about 3 weeks ago, our nights got into the low 50s which is cold for us here in SE Florida. Then, all of a sudden we went back to being in the mid to late 70s almost 80s. Humidity is off the chain! I am in my late 60s and I remember when we got to see the seasons change. In the fall/autumn, the leaves on the trees would turn colors for the fall; orange, yellow, etc. It would also get very cold during the winter. When it was spring time, there would be butterflies soaring and floating in the wind; NOT ANYMORE! As far as summertime, I don't really remember experiencing the heat/humidity like we do now. But back then I was a young kid. We weren't paying attention. Too busy outside playing games. The first hurricane that I remember, was Hurricane Cleo, when I was 8 years old (August/September 1964). Oh well, it is what it is. 🤷🏽♀️😫🤷🏽♀️
Yes, but more the lines of storms along with tornado "watch" in the period leading up to it, not actual tornadoes touching down like they have the past few years.
the tornados were only in the Houston area (900 sq miles of it) and nobody died and no injuries, 2 structural damages, a barn...it was an F1 that was it. Mainly F-0 and 2 F-1's and most were dusters in the ranches and over the lakes. Media makes it sound like mass casualty...it wasn't.

It happens sometimes. Cold air meets warm air. There was a really bad EF4 in North Central Texas about 10 years ago.

Yes it is, and this weather pattern change started in the first 2 weeks of February 2021.
