Man, I have yet to beat the dlc of this game, let alone Plat. Bg2, I Plat bg1, man that was fun. Can't wait for you to play BG3, I'd be extremely amazed if you avoided spoilers for that game even now. I'm just trying to catch up on your playthrough of BG2, hope you are doing well, and having a good time playing this game. Also have you played Kingdom Come Dilverance, yet? If not, it's a historical accurate game that takes place in the turn of the 1500s (year 1403) and you play as Henry (Hal), I recently just discovered the game myself, there's a codex in the game, the combat in it of itself is done quite well, it requires both skill and skill based points. I'd check the game out if you can. 😅

I like the idea that Lyla's voice changed due to one of the experiments that was done in you in your cell. Either something damaged your character's voicebox, or perhaps your torturer tried to draw out more of your orcish side in an attempt to steal your soul. And now the effect is permanent.
Sweet! I've been waiting for this. Just a reminder: you don't always have to use Identify on magic items. If a character's Lore stat is high enough, the item will automatically be identified when you click on it. Bards/Wizards/Clerics have good lore stats. Edit: You should also check Imoen's and Jaheira's memorized spell and make any changes you want. Then rest to refresh spells. This opening dungeon is a large one.
I forgot to mention this earlier: a lot of people don't know this but you can keybind WASD to the camera movement in the options menu, i *definitely* recommend doing that, its such a quality of life change.
The game so good, it survived the death of its studio and a 20-year lull. Don't forget you can set auto-pause so that the game takes on a turn-based style; fights get so tough in this game that you'll be mashing your spacebar like a telegraph operator.
Auto-pausing doesn't change the fact multiple actions in this game are happening simultaneously. Its not a turn-based style in any way shape or form. Its a fundamentally different system.

The intro for this has graphics that feel like the same weird cgi zooms and still images fading in and out that you'd usually find in dvd menus and bonus features, and the unnecessarily long-winded scene settings of old universal rides like the mummy or the (now defunct) atlantis "experience".
I didn't want to elaborate on this before because i didn't want to give you any spoilers but now i can: the intro cutscene of BG2 explains everything the player needs to know and it pretty much shows why Siege of Dragonspear was entirely unnecessary as a "bridge the gap" expansion. To make matters worse, SoD even created inconsistencies in the story where none existed before. but enough of me complaining about SoD. Now its time for BG2 Baby!!!
Hearing David Warner, the voice actor of Jon Irenicus, always takes me back to the movie Time Bandits! I was like 7 years old and I don't even know how many times I watched that movie. I'm sure it rivals Star Wars movies, Clash of the Titans, and The Beastmaster in my childhood viewing repertoire. If you haven't seen Time Bandits, do so. It's bizarre and hilarious; directed by Terry Gilliam.
Hey Lyle, if companion interaction is your kind of thing, I would highly recommend Planescape Torment sometimes, it's got great writing and all the companions have their own history and personalities and you can even talk with them whenever you wish. One of the big drawbacks is that the combat can be a chore sometimes tho, but definitely give planescape torment a try when you can

I remember the final boss from the last game being difficult as hell and that was on OG Baldurs Gate on my dad's PC 🫠Those original Cutscenes are so nicee
if you like banter: NPC project mod for baldurs gate. although it has its flaws, the overall experience is great. i dont want to spoil, but some characters are really nice expanded in their character.
