Oh yes, I've had a few managers like this! In both occasions, the company was not doing well and budget cuts were made, with a few managers singling out employees to abuse with the hopes they quit and the company will save more money.

This same exact crap is happening to me right now. It's a race to see if I can get another job before he finds enough leverage to get me fired.

they always turn on you if they figure out you dont really care because its just a job. Seriously start looking for a lawyer. There is so much they could be held liable for before and after you quit of get fired, but no one will tell you.

Almost every job I’ve ever had eventually this happens and I don’t know why. I’ve resigned from 4 jobs myself over the years because I got to aggravated with my boss suddenly pretending like I’m the worst employee and the scum of the earth just because they don’t like me, and I’ve been fired from one because that didn’t work and I didn’t resign and they made up some BS about poor performance when I knew full well I wasn’t doing any better or worse than any of my co-workers. Shit like that sucks. 😒

Odd question....were you verbally or emotionally abused as a child? Bullied? They tend to be the sort who fall into this. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, finally burned it.
Hint: If so, it's not your fault, it's that you're choosing bad bosses because you're a little more blind to the signs of narcissists and psychopaths than the average person.

Stick in there!! I dealt with a difficult supervisor for 12 years, only to have the last eight under the guidance of one of THE most incredible leaders I've ever met. She recently stepped down for family issues and our manager took copious notes from my team on the qualities we most admired so that she could find the best possible replacement. Somehow she did it!! I look back on that first decade and change and realize that if I had given up at any time during that stint, I would NOT be in the position I am now, and cannot be grateful enough!

I’m in this situation right now. I’ve held my ground for over two years. I know I’m a great employee and he’s got a financial problem (gambling) - even my co-worker says he’s deliberately targeting me. We’re both miserable- I’ve started applying for other jobs. I’ve also kept immaculate records of his actions during this time. It isn’t over.

I had a boss like this. I knew that *every* Monday morning and *every* Friday afternoon he was going to find some way to eff with me. I actually called it out to him in an email.
He eventually gave up and just laid me off. But, I was high up enough that I got a nice exit package.

…Is there actually a record of people ever going Kerchak Apeshit on their managers and bosses over these stunts getting pulled?
Forget getting fired, quitting or just general resignation. I’m talking about ambulances getting called, cops being forced to intervene and the manager/boss getting permanent scarring to mark the moment.
I’m not saying we monsoon flood the ERs all across town, but making a town hall square example out of one or two high ranking jackasses would get them to try to be better.

When being Quiet Fired, the best answer is to Quiet Quit. Very little actually gets done, but if you look at the job description, there's nothing on it that can be pointed at and said it isn't getting done. It's just that's all that's getting done.

Active shooters in the workplace are actually quite common. You just don't hear about it as much because the media focuses on schools.

Make note of everything. Any instructions write it down to have clear understanding. Possibly while being given them. Make sure your attendance is perfect. That is the main one they can go after.

Never happens on production lines. This is where physical things need to be: Made, Repaired, Cleaned, Sorted, Shipped, etc. This work cannot be done: From home, Remote locations, While watching over others (children, parents, others who need your time). When working production it is near impossible to get time for medical visits or to keep up with a child’s education needs. Even if you are unhappy in your
office job please remember those in a job like I had, medical laundry, with none of the comforts of an office job.
