10 Kinetic Design AWARDS of the InterPlay24 Competition.

The InterPlay24 AWARDS - A video summarising the ten awards of the Kinetic Design Competition. First, there is the £5K Major Award for the ‘Planetary Projector’ concept for a kinetic sculpture that is also a table-top lamp. Second, is a £2K AWARD given to “Balance Lamp” where the light is switched on and off by manually placing the lamp unit on its base, which then moves gently. Thirdly there are three £1K AWARDS followed by five projects with COMMENDATION AWARDS.

The competition was for 'kinetic design' only. The Awards are not for the 3D form when objects are static, nor for use of materials etc. The contention of the Competition is that ‘kinetic aesthetics', as an attribute of design, is undervalued and can offer both cultural enrichment to everyday objects and commercial value too for industry generally.
