  • I was in the fledgling stages of becoming a ferry pilot when I got a call from new aircraft owner asking if I could take a PA-12 from Kansas to Alaska. Of course I couldn't say no! The key was that he never asked specifically if I had flown to Alaska before, so perhaps I left out that detail at the time, but I certainly wasn't going to let the fact that I had never done it stop me from trying.
I did lots of research ahead of time and thankfully I had adequate time to prepare. I'm also very thankful I live in a time where information is abundantly available for research ahead of time and there are lots of other extremely useful resources out there to help the flight along the way.
Stay tuned for the second part of this trip as I have a lot more footage from that part and I faced many more challenges along the way as we made our way from Toad River to Anchorage.
Resources I found useful researching the trip to Alaska:
    -AOPA: www.aopa.org/t...
    -Transport Canada (Canadian FAA): tc.canada.ca/e...
-Aviator Zone Academy (FCC License Info): www.aviator.zo...

    Sounds like a great adventure!
Lack of fuel, lack of radio and RADAR, and lack of suitable landing spots are some of the challenges of flying up here for sure. So glad you popped back up in my feed; I hadn't seen you in a while and now realise I've missed a few episodes.

Haha I'm glad to hear it, hopefully I didn't offend you too bad with that terrible Canadian accent/impression.

G,day Travis from Sydney Australia. That was a fantastic video production, especially the sectional charts with plane direction. Your new planes not F15 for KIAS. What about a header tank behind the seat?
Gee that MT orange sunset from the rooftop was amazing.
