I lived in Handsacre during the 60's. They built our estate (up from the new builds) to house miners from different parts of the country. Bridge 57 was a place to play....even swim! The farm just over the bridge was owned by parents of my teacher Miss Brown... we'd get fresh eggs and could watch the cows being milked from the lane.. Sometimes we'd walk to school coming off at Armitage Ware to continue through the village. Brought back many memories of beautiful walks either way with family and friends from bridge 57. Many thanks for sharing your journey 👍

In your 30 years on the cut I'd think you've seen many changes. On this side of the great pond we have a few canals in the 1800s, same as there used for moving goods .
