Following Messi's entire career is one of the best decisions I've made. The truth is, no matter how many compilations or videos people watch, nothing comes close to watching him for the full 90 minutes. Most of his genius moments will never see the light of day and will only be remembered by the ones who saw happen it live, because you can literally (im dead serious) go to ANY GAME in his career and find at least 10 instances where he does something unbelievable. ANY GAME I promise. Even his worst games he does at least a few things that make it worth it all.
This camera angle (2:14) allows for a great view of one of Messi's favorite moves, the outside chop moving across the top of the box. Countless goals scored this way: as a defender closes him down to block a shooting opportunity, Messi chops the ball with the outside of his left foot in a sharp turn to start a run across the 18. But Messi recognizes instantly that it will not clear the defender, so his second action is to step away from and ahead of the ball, perfectly anticipating the block and deflecting it out into his run and away from, in this case, the "best defender" in the MLS. Among other things, this takes elite decision-making, timing, and foot speed that I've never seen in any other player.
