It makes me so happy to see another retro dev take their time and make a polished game. As when you're developing a new game for a old console. I feel like its our duty to use the knowledge to create something special on the machine.
Could have the crab move their arms out for a second or 2, giving you a chance to jump on their head? Just an idea. I know I say it a lot, but this is some of the best NES pixel art I've ever seen. Great job :)
Sounds ridiculous maybe, but your NES-games inspired me studying computer science so one day hopefully I can also enrich the NES library with some new highlights. Greetings from somenone who still plays on his first NES console from his childhood in Germany.
That's amazing! Thank you for sharing! There are a couple of resources out there to get started with no programming experience. www.matthughson.com/2021/11/17/how-to-start-making-nes-games/ I would say, don't wait for the "right time"! Start TODAY! A few hours a week is enough to make your first game! I can't wait to see what you make!

Can't wait to add this to my growing NES collection!

Great progress and additions! Love to see these updates
That Iron-Shelled Mollusk looks like it can't be stomped on because of its spikes.
Yah, I'm going to see if we can make his shell a bit more inviting...

you did the music? That's awesome!
The music was created for the game by coffeebat.neocities.org/
nice :)
i dont think you mentioned the ? block sprite
You mean I didn't mention that it changed? I tend to only mention a subset of what I do to try to keep the videos short.
Any demo?
Not yet, but hoping for release before the end of the year.
If you're going to make the gameplay pretty much exactly like Mario, why not just make a romhack???
2 main reasons, I guess:
1. I don't know how to ROM hack (although I'm sure I could learn).
2. I want to make something I can sell legally.
