- (part one)
In this episode from December 27, 1965 Louis' secret centers around the first horn that was given to him then 53 years ago when he was at the Colored Waif's Home in 1912. It was presented to him by Peter Davis who first taught Louis how to play. Louis is obviously fond and indebted to this man, simply and meaningfully saying when on stage together, "This is Him." Davis and Armstrong then play When the Saints Go Marching In. (Which can be found in part 2.) - Комедії
I hope they’ve got that instrument in a museum. It should be preserved for future generations.
Old comment I know, but they actually do! And it's still even used on occasion by the top trumpet in the Smithsonian jazz band. I got to talk to the guy in a masterclass and I swear you can tell that man has dedicated his life to playing like Louis
Very nice man. Louis.
thanks a million !
this is really great !!!
wonderful to see Satchmo talkin' and laughin'
while he gives us important historical informations
about Jazz and his life.
in Germany the show called "was bin ich?"(what's my profession?)
...but we never saw such a jewel of conversation there !
This is beautiful I wanted to see Mr Oliver his teacher
Falana Jerido - unfortunately King Oliver died in1938. Now THAT would have really been something to have King Oliver on this show and ask him about Louis Armstrong 1st records for Gennett Records in 1923. Ask him about Chimes Blues which was Louis Armstrong 1st recorded solo.
Thanks a million , as Louis used to say!!
The late, GREAT!
Wow. Over 100 years ago.
52 years ago, in the first months of 1913. Who is this gorgeous woman?
If Henry Morgan had been telegenic, he'd've been the King of Show Business.
Here's some real jazz history.
HA ! 4.11.What your goin for henry is not so much where the horn has been hangin out all this time. OR WHAT WAS ITS BEEN DOING?
