Dr. Umar Johnson Talks America's War Against the Black Man

  • As an educator and former principal, Dr. Umar Johnson takes the time to discuss the appropriateness of #TeacherBae's form fitting attire. While DJ Vlad feels that the elementary school teacher was not dressed to suit her profession Umar asserts, "the way she's dressed is relatively conservative compared to the way I see many teachers dress." He goes to say that she shouldn't be penalized for having a curvaceous body, and questions who is to blame in this scenario the employee or the system that allows teachers to wear what they'd like to school each day. He does, however, feel that the attire would be unacceptable if she were teaching anywhere from sixth to twelfth grade.
    He then uses how the Black man in society is criminalized in America to strengthen his point about who is responsible for enabling certain behaviors. "How about the system? That creates the reality; that necessitates that I commit a crime...desperation would make me consider going to the corner to sell that package; which is why we have to be very careful about blaming the person or separating them from the context in which the behavior took place. The context in which she wore that dress is that the unions in that school district make it allowable."
    The self-proclaimed Pan-African also dives into why when his school, The Fredrick Douglass Marcus Garvey Academy, is built he will not be hiring Black teachers who are interracial romantic relationships. His belief is that it is important for Black students to see the strengthen of healthy and positive Black relationships. And he explains the statistics on Black men marrying outside their race, Black women ranking amongst the lowest when it comes to marriage, and how that is an effect of self-hate in some sense. He also then explains why he does not feel a child can be biracial, and why it is hard for white mothers to be honest to their Black children.

    "The dress itself isn't provocative, but her figure in that dress makes it provocative."
    That's it, he hit the nail on the head. That's what I've been saying the whole time. People keep trying to say "ohh, it's just because she's a full figured black woman." No, it's just because she is full figured period. Different clothes are appropriate or inappropriate on different people. If a woman has small breasts and wears a low cut top, it's not too revealing or inappropriate. But if the woman has double D's and is busting out of the top, then yes, it's inappropriate. She has to take that into account and dress appropriately for her particular body type.

    • @Nestle245

      I agree people are retarded and don't think before they talk or type. I would see idiots say "well a skinny girl can wear that dress so why can't she". People that are curvaceous have to watch what they choose to wear more than everyone else especially in a professional business environment. She can easily find jeans and dresses that would fit her loosely and not skin tight but she obviously doesn't want too because she thinks she wouldn't look cute, or sexy in it. You're a school teacher why would you care about how cute you look unless you went to be known as the school's sexiest teacher.

      Provocative to an adult mind. It's all about perception, programming, psychology etc... Children aren't programmed to perceive their teacher in a lustful manner. Having an issue a s an adult with her dress code, is more of a personal opinion and/or issue.

    The most important thing in the school is that they are being subject matter that is ACCURATE and non biased. The teacher is not in a school to espouse political beliefs, religious beliefs or any other thing outside the realm of fundamentals about MATH, ACCURATE HISTORY, ENGLISH or something they are in need of to function properly in the realm of society. The dress code SHOULD be as you point out ... conservative AND professional. Teachers in public schools are PUBLICLY TAX DOLLAR FUNDED employees whether they like it or not. That conversation should be up to the PRINCIPAL to enforce IF they are not following guidelines set by that district's voters. It is beyond me that a "teacher" would go into a classroom with their butt and boobs hanging out.

      Most black men prefer black women. People can marry who they want. I like white men, that's what I'm attracted to. I imagine black women sometimes feel betrayed, as we're told all our lives we aren't beautiful, so some black men viewing other races as prettier makes black women feel as though it's true or they feel less than. That's the only assumption I can make. They're also told that white women are better. They aren't. The images were shown are of white women who are attractive. The black women aren't shown very often, if ever. Of course, there's beauty in all races, I'm just being honest. White women are shown in a positive light, seen as pure, submissive, kind, and generally positive. Black women are portrayed negatively. This could subliminally lead many black men to believe lightness is better or prettier. They've been conditioned to think this since they were young. I'm just being honest.

  • @obatron1

    Where I'm from the brothers that weren't into thuggin and were going to school or working on their craft (not talking about sports) were usually played to the left by black women. Interracial dating wasn't the result of "self hate" but lack of dating choices and also women of other races seeing the value of these men even though they had not reached their goal yet.
    Where's a black man to go when "your own race" of women don't even recognize the potential in you?

    • @MrZBlackneffect
      @MrZBlackneffect 8 років тому +22

      That's a cop out. I'm Black and as square as they come and all I date is Black women.
      We have to be honest ...Asian women are marrying outside of their race at 37%. That's more that 1/3. Black men are marrying outside of their race at about 20% or 2/10. Both groups are marrying mainly white people......and you think that, that is about Black women wanting "thugs" or Asian men being that square?

      i am a black man who is an aspiring writer, quiet person, never committed any crimes, have manners, and respect for others but when it comes to black women that i gave many the benefit of the doubt, they never understood fully who i am or the goals i have for myself, but more about their wants and needs. Sorry, but if i'm set on the right course in life and enjoying the things i love im not going to changing my good qualities to please whatever ideals they have for me unless we're in a long term relationships

    • @0fficialdregs
      @0fficialdregs 8 років тому +8

      it's not a cop out, it's a manner of preference. some of us want someone with similar values and personality while others get what they find. i rather be happy and hated than miserable and trying to help the black community with marriage image

    • @0fficialdregs
      @0fficialdregs 8 років тому +4

      i know all about the doll test, but that does not factor into my choice of who i date. i date based on characteristic, personality, goals, and mannerisms with looks being last.
      I already known asian women date outside their own race so save the speech. What about the percentage of black women dating outside of their own because i see more black women with white men than i do the reverse so save your patriotic bullshit for someone else. I'm far from weak, but if you wanna be a black live matter person go ahead i wont judge near will i judge anyone based on who they date. i tried dating black women and i wasn't down with their negative vibe so i chose to date outside my race dating hispanics and white women mostly so sorryyy for loving diversity instead of just sticking to one race which is a form of racism but whatever dude.

We as men have to raise our levels of respect for women and not always think and feel with the lower self (waist down).We must value our women for who they are mentally as well as spiritual. When you as a brother can learn self respect and self discipline. We won't focus on our women as sexual objects. That's just my humble opinion.

    I really like listening to Dr. Umar. But, the ending I have to disagree on: I do not think dating outside the black race is because we hate looking at ourselves (maybe some). What I would argue is that it is about progression and not stagnation no matter male or female. You get tired of treating a person like he or she is the Moshulu when they are only warranted to be Wendy's or Checkers dollar menu (Philly ppl know the Moshulu and yeah I'm from Philly FKD to be exact) . And too many of our kind (male and female) want to be treated like Barrack and Michelle with the actions and intentions of Jody and Peanut off of baby boi. So it has nothing to do with hating my kind, it has everything to do with moving towards a Progressive lifestyle - working towards the house on the hill or the family like the Cosby's or Family Matters or The Fresh Prince for some. And if that means being successful outside your race than so be it.
    But that one wasn't rightfully admissible knowing for every 1 great black person you may meet you might (key word might) have to date 20 Peanuts and Jody's by that time you may be like man f this and most times you can't go to church to find the good ones anymore like before because they are screwed up also so where do you go, maybe college nope because they will be on their high horse to oh no car no me, oh you chose that because it was easy and MUCH MORE so again where do you go?. If you ask me Once we correct our mindsets as a culture you may see more Black on Black dating without the force as you are doing in a way. However, if we don't you will see more cream in your coffee whether Hazelnut (Spanish) or French Vanilla (white) hahahaha.
    In life people only are searching for 3 things Love, Acceptance, and Progression. When you're young its Love and Acceptance and when you get older it's all 3. And whoever finds it takes it no matter the race. Therefore that argument is false and nothing good comes out of force so if you think having a school with only teachers who date black on black will help that's a trapped sense of living because you can learn from anyone even an outsider if you open your mind to the knowledge.
