Sturt Desert Rose is the flower emblem of NT and the Sturt Desert Pea is the emblem of SA. Two big thumbs up for Vegemite as i sit here eating it on freshly baked bread
I was raised on Marmite as my mom was from England. I have travelled to Australia numerous times and made the switch to Vegemite years ago. I love the stuff but would say that I am in a very tiny group of Canadians that would say that. It used to be carried in some of grocery stores but for some reason (low sales?) they stopped carrying it. I recently found a specialty store that imports it a few times per year so I can enjoy it again, even at the ridiculously high cost they charge. My Aussie friends would scream with laughter at what I pay, $12 CAN for a small jar, but hey, it’s worth it to me.
Vegemite on a slice of toast (or turkish bread) with butter and smash avo was my goto breakfast during my uni days. I've also used it as a marinate when cooking steak. Just spread a thin layer on the steak and let it sizzle or a pan or grill. 🤤 Did you only go on one gorge in Karijini? If so, very surprised, considering you love having a swim in natural pools and hot springs. Beautiful part of Australia.
Vegemite is the best, BUT you've gotta spread it over lashings of butter. Fun watching the yellow and black spirals squirting out of a butter and Vegemite Salada sandwich!
I love Vegemite. It's yummy. 🤤 Though that spread you had on that crisp is still a little thick for my liking. FYI...it now comes in a squeeze bottle, making it less messy to get on the bread to spread. I hope you didn't leave Karijini NP without driving up to the top of Mt Meharry - the highest peak in WA. You would love the drive up there and the 360° vistas.
Welcome to Australia, where everything can kill you! Even our dust!. Lol I enjoy all of your videos! I will probably never make it out there and if I do,it will never be at the level you and Katie are doing.thank you for sharing this!
That's how it is mostly eaten here in Australia. I'm an Australian and I found the amount of Vegemate Dan spread on that crisp was a bit too thick for my liking. 😁
Hey mate, have you tried a Vegemite and cheese grilled sandwich? 🤤 Not many more mouthwatering dishes than that. Perhaps with a slice of tomato grilled onto it too..
Toasted Sour Dough Bread, Vegemite, a thick layer of smashed Avo. a liberal sprinking of Cracked Pepper and shreded tasty cheese toasted under a griller until the cheese melts with a fried egg of top. Breakfast of Champions!
vegemite is the perfect camping condiment. Doesnt need refrigeration, doesnt go "off", not sweet so you dont have to worry about ants, bees or wasps and the perfect umani and salt base of any cooking
I think thats the Aussie trick; waaay too much 'mite and then a chuckle at the reaction. I have not tried Vegemite but if its as close to Marmite as I think then I would only use a fraction of that. On toast or an onion bagel, butter and thin slices of cheddar (maybe melt it a bit). Oooh, now I'm hungry. I describe the taste as a bit like a bouillon cube. Very salty, savory, funny smelling though.
I emigrated to Australia from Canada 22 years ago and initially I found Vegemite disgusting but now I like it although I don't eat it often. I used it as slugs bait in my veggie garden (they are attracted to yeast) but they stayed away from it they prefer beer. 🙂
I remember my first time trying Vegemite. I really didn’t like it. I was expecting it to be sweet like Nutella 😂. Now, after almost 7 years of living in Australia, I actually enjoying it a lot. Such a rich and strange taste, hard to explain to somebody who has never tried it
The spread of the vegemite is way too much even for me, a born and bred Aussie! I love it but for me it needs to be a really, really minuscule amount! 😋
Vegemite by itself is a bit raw. It is much better with lots of butter or with cheese melted onto it. A classic way to eat it is in a Sandwich with cheese and lettuce. Less is more with Vegemite.
Fun vid. How does this channel not blow up? So many boring, repetitive van life and overlanders with hundreds of thousands of views and subs. Is it just because he's an Aussie?
I spread peanut butter with a small spread off Vegemite on toasted bread it's yum mixed together , yer blue asbestos is bad all asbestos is bad friable is the worst it's the spay on stuff over pipes very air born if disturbed , gee sleeping on the ground every night in a swag don't u wish u had a roof top tent I love mine bugger the extra weight on top
I was grinning the whole time through the video. The vegimite thing was soooo hilarious.
Your videos just keep getting better and better!
Haha, thanks Tom!!
Awesome, and the film and sound quality are of a very high standard.

Full American here. I have a jar of Vegemite in my fridge. Definitely an acquired taste. I prefer it spread thin on buttered toast.

Vegemite is one of the best Australian exports. Big in NZ
Vegimite is awesome.... I eat it everyday....
Katie's right.
you can change the name of the channel to "In the water with Dan" 😆😆😆

My dad used to be rep for Kraft foods and sold a tonne of Vegemite. We had as much as we liked for free and I hate the stuff.
A mate from down under sent me a jar of vegamite 16 years ago - ick....
2:18 ya idk man I think I prefer the view of an office cubicle
