    I love that my sisterlocks look like loose natural hair. That is one of the main reasons I got them. People just don't know. Shrinkage equals health though. Great video!!

    Hey Nia! Noir is definitely thriving, and looking healthy and beautiful. I'm hating the fact that the front perimeter of my hair is constantly slipping out and I'm 6 months into my sisterlocks journey. Congrats on the growth of your channel.

      I also a newbie to Sisterloc as of November 1st. I’m excited to start my loc journey. My Sisterlocs are very thin cause I have very thin low density hair. I can’t wait for my locs to get thick and flourish!

    Sitting here chuckling to myself cos yesterday I looked at my daughter with her almost 600 microlocks and just wished my hair was as gorgeous as hers. I installed hers myself over 5 weeks. I also do her reties myself. I on the other hand have about the number you seem to be wishing you had (I have exactly 237 microlocks) - too small to be considered traditional locks, but not so small that they can be mistaken for loose hair. I'm chuckling because we can never any of us be 100% satisfied can we?

    • @Niaimani92
      @Niaimani92  4 роки тому

      You installed them yourself ! That is so impressive !!! I can agree with that statement about satisfaction. I know so many people with larger locs who want sisterlocks and vice versa.

    I named my hair when i big chopped my relaxer off many years ago. My hair name is Sylvia and everybody knows it too. My stylist thinks its so funny that Sylvia is my hair name. Sylvia is bossy and does only what she wants to do when she wants to do it.

    You can do two strand braid gives the looks of traditional locs - like a hair style. The length will come in time.

    Enjoyed your video! I can relate to all your points even though I have small traditional locs. Maintenance is why I didn’t get micro locs. I have 128 locs that I started with interlocks and I dread retightenings. Yes they are hot! We all have shrinkage not matter the size. With all that, your locs are beautiful and I love mine as well. Oh and I’m 3 years as well. Happy loc journey!

      Thanks for sharing ! 128 locs sounds amazing right now lol! I am in the process of retightening right now, and I have like 128 in about 1/4 of my head. I never considered doing my own locs when I decided to go this route, but life happens lol. Thank you for sharing part of your journey with me ! Happy loc journey to you too !!!

    You are too funny! I love when I see your new videos at night and can have wine time too. I saw this one in the morning so I'm over here having coffee like 😒 "Thanks for the late notification, UA-cam." Anyway! 5 loc dislikes isn't bad at all. I had approximately one hundred million with my loose natural hair. 🤣 Okay so hear me out though. I scanned the comments and saw people suggesting combining your locs since it would knock out at least 2 of your dislikes. Of course your hair/your choice BUT if you ever did combine, I'd still 100% be a subscriber if your following is any part of your reservations. You don't owe us anything and need to do what's best for you. JUST SAYING. Woo this comment is all over the place. What's in this coffee? 🕵🏾‍♀️ Happy Friday!!!

      Thank you Sis! Pro tip... If you add orange juice to champagne, it would technically be completely acceptable to sip with me in the AM lol! Make it a mimosa and you're good to go lol!
      Thank you for this comment! It is nice to know people will still support even if I don't have sisterlocks. My following is not the main reason I haven't combined... I worry about how my parting will look. and what my overall new set of locs would look like. I've seen some people combine sisterlocks, and their hair has to go through a second awkward stage. I don't know if I am about that life. I am afraid if I combine them, I won't like them at all, and I would've waisted all of the money I spent on sisterlocks.
      We'll see what happens though. I am still considering it =)

    • @bbkix
      @bbkix 4 роки тому

      @@Niaimani92 bahahaha you are so right about the OJ - I blew it! Next time. 😂 I definitely understand your concerns about making a decision that could be regrettable since you've invested sooo much time/love in your locs already and nourished a beautiful set to be proud of having. I think if you did combine and were very intentional about it, you could still maintain some degree of your grid to keep the styling options and this weird time we're in could give you more privacy than normal to adjust. I do wonder about the potential weight of heavier locs or loss of volume but, like all things hair-related, I'm sure it really all depends on the individual. No matter your decision, you will continue to be beautiful so I hope you will just follow your intuition and are able to be at peace.

    Thank you for the video!
    I disliked how this little patch of my hair cannot maintain the size of locks that I originally wanted (one loc straight up fell out and left a bald spot without warning, but hair grew back, and the other loc just broke off to a little piece). It’s one lock now, and the parting size difference from all the other locks bothers me sometimes when I think about updos, but then I just think, this lock is just ahead of the game. I plan on enjoying my current number of locks for some years, but I’m definitely gonna go larger down the road, and the part size of my off lock seems perfect :)

    • @Niaimani92
      @Niaimani92  4 роки тому +1

      Same! Right now I am childless, but I cannot see myself with babies and over 400 locs. I think I may combine in 2-3 years. We'll see. Sometimes when people combine locs they go through like a second awkward stage. I don't know if I could go through that again.

    🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 your back and front are on different schedules!
    All praise to you for at least persevering - I’m totally useless and have no intention of retightening my locs. Doing it during lockdown led to them being yanked out in frustration, it’s not for me.
    I love retightening my daughters sisterlocks, very relaxing and enjoyable but doing my own is torture. I get reties every 4-5 weeks and need all the help I can get.
    I wonder if combining would work for you in terms of getting the thickness you want and reducing your self reties?

    Also, more to the points you raised, I know two popular UA-camrs who did a beautiful job of combining their Sisterlocks. You might want to search for them and find out how they did it in terms of parting pattern and technique used. Or you could install two strand twists like some have suggested and see how those make you feel. It might cure you of your desire for bigger locks 😄 Or it might help you decide that you want bigger locks for sure. Check out Westafrican baby's latest video of a curl set she did on 210 microtwists; it was GORGEOUS to say the least. Lavenia living life also combined her locks to about 200 or slightly less, so you might want to check her out too. Also Feneti and Rebekah Elaine are two popular youtubers who started with between 200-300 microlocks and have always maintained their locks by themselves. Both have gorgeous heads of hair, though I believe Feneti's are much smaller.

    Oooooh child, you sound like you want to combine. You hair looks lovely but 400+ locs is A LOT, that’s one reason why I didn’t go too small on my diy locs I’m 1 year 19th November & have 185ish. Maybe you could do a video on combining & youtubers that have & methods they used. Would they still be called “sister locs”the & would sister loc community would oust you if they you did combine?!😱 😉 🇬🇧

    • @leeceyleece2406
      @leeceyleece2406 4 роки тому +2

      I’ve seen a few videos like the ones you describe and very few still describe them as sisterlocks because they don’t look like them. I know one UA-camr who does because she says she paid for sisterlocks even though she combined them 😂

    • @Niaimani92
      @Niaimani92  4 роки тому +2

      LOL I have DEFINITELY considered combining my locs, but many people who combine theirs go through like a second awkward stage while they wait for the combined locs to mature. I don't think I want that life again lol. 185 sounds like a perfect number! I really wish I went with something like that.
      If I ever combined mine, I don't think I would call them sisterlocks anymore. I would probably be ousted lol, and that's okay. TBH I think the diy loc community is the most lit anyway TBH LOL! I love Kendra Kensha, and a few other DIY lockers.

      Whether they’re sister, micro, small, medium, large, free form looked after well all locs are beautiful. Growing up locs were frowned upon & mainly Rastafarian guys had them. I’m just glad that we are living in an age where they are celebrated as they should be, our hair is our ”crowning glory” & more people should be proud to wear it as they want. Forums like this help so many women embrace themselves wearing their natural hair whatever way they style it. It’s great ☺️🇬🇧
