    Ahhhh La Plagne! I remember going down the mountains there on BMX bikes 29 years ago! It was amazing and completely wild back then.
    Yep, not called forty something rider for nothing! Getting long in the tooth!

    You can ride across to Les arcs, via the Vanoise express runs 3 days mid week.
    There’s also an awesome trail over the back of Roche de mio that takes you back to Plan Piesey

      MrMastervolt 😁👌 I asked at the ticket office and they said it wasn’t possible! Must check out that route next summer👍🏼 ThNks for the heads up

      @@MtbTrailHub it's not possible using the lift. the Vanoise *used* to open five days a week, then it went down to three, and since 2020 it's not open at all in the summer. You can cross the Nancroix valley (what the Vanoise floats over) on descending trails to get TO les arcs but to get back to Montchavin/Les Coches you'd have to pedal (although it's not that bad if you are used to pedalling). You could get to Peisey/Vallandry (Les Arcs) from the trail mentioned above that comes down from the Roche de Mio (it doesn't take you directly to Plan Peisey, you would need to take the telebenne (lobster pots) up from Peisey), but it's quicker to take a trail down from Montchavin/Les Coches. In short, it's possible by bike but it wouldn't leave much time to ride on the opposite side to where you'd parked as you'd need to allow time to get back again. It's a bit of a bummer that they have decided not to open the Vanoise again this summer as if you know where you're going you can loop back across several times off some very nice little bits of singletrack. Oh well.

    It's been a while but we've only ever used the La Plagne lifts to access other natural trails in the area. Maybe the Vanoise Express was closed this summer or they didnt want you to buy the Paradiski pass over their own resort only pass. Did you manage to get up and over Mont Jovet and for the epic descent all the way down the valley through Brides-les-Bainsl to Moutiers?

    • @MtbTrailHub
      @MtbTrailHub 5 років тому

      Trail Doug No didn’t get to that one and to be honest.... I didn’t know it existed! That sounds like a HUGE ride..... Would that be almost a couple of hour bus ride back to depot?

      @@MtbTrailHub We normally do it starting in Bourg, use the lifts to get over to La Plagne taking in trails on the way and then catch the train back up the valley at the end. It's an epic in every sense of the word and one of the must do rides in Europe IMO.

      Yeah, We drove down. I prefer it tbh although flying is probably quicker , it still takes a day to get down there and set up so no riding time is lost. Not sure if you’re into podcasts at all but I talk about the area in more detail on there..... got loads of info about the place 👍🏼

      It’s a process of elimination 🤷🏼‍♂️ try and figure out if it creeks without pressure through the pedals and that will rule out the bottom bracket/pedals...... maybe check the seat too......
