Fellow potato lover here 🙋🏻♀️ I’ve been smoking my potatoes on a smoker/traeger for the last two weeks and I’m obsessed. The flavor profile can’t be beat! Slather them in melted butter and salt, slow smoke them until tender. So good! I’d imagine it would give loaded potato soup a flavor boost and be amazing!
Oh my goodness that sounds AMAZING! I actually don’t have a smoker but that’s on my wishlist to add to my garden grilling! I’ll keep this in mind 😊
Just got done harvesting onions which I successfully grew for the first time in NC . I must say onions are so much tastier when you grow them yourself 💚😋 eventually will grow potatoes once I dedicate a space for them . Love your content ! ☀️
Onions are 100% more tasty home grown! Mine aren’t huge this year like they got last year but I’m sure they’ll be just as tasty 😋
Love that you are so excited by soup. I'm a huge soup person too!
Soup is my life 😂 I could eat it for every meal to be honest!
new gardener here! i really want to grow my own onions, garlic and potatoes, but i'm trying to take baby steps with the few plants i started with. hoping to grow more soon. great looking harvest!
Wonderful video and great harvest, thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for watching! 💚
Ugh. Meg. LOOK at your Rosemary!! 😍 So jealous. I live in zone 5a so it's not perennial in my area. Your garlic looks great, as well. 💚🌿
Thank you! I love my rosemary bush so much!
Hello Beautiful,
Thank you for all the time and effort you put in to make and share these videos with us - i always learn something! 💕
Thank you so much for the kind words!
I make lots of cabbage soup. Delicious.
Mmm maybe some cabbage, potato, and garlic?
That would be good.
I made a cabbage, potato, and onion soup a few weeks ago. It was good. Then last week I got creative and added in green poblano and a little tomato (from cans), and it turned out really well. I made it into a cream soup.
Sometimes I add cooked chicken pieces at the end to get some protein.
Find a recipe you like, try it, then later you can modify it with other ingredients you have in the fridge. That's what I do.
I love soup and potatoes as well, but you have far more passion for soup than I have ever seen. Bon Appetite...🍓🫐🥔🧄🧅🍛
I am a soup fan through and through 😂
Purple Japanese potatoes 😎
Hi Megg😊❤watching from the philippines🇵🇭❤️🥰😊
EXACTLY how I feel about my harvests. Keep up the great vids!
It’s just such a good feeling!! & thank you ❤️
I was actually wondering if I should harvest my garlic and I think it's probably time. It's my first time growing garlic so I'm excited. I planted hard neck so I just harvested the scapes as well. Thank you for sharing!
Don't harvest too early! If you just removed scapes it will be another at least 30 days. She may not be in your zone.
Where I am southern Ontario Canada we still have a month to go
Garlic is ready when about 2/3 of the leaves have browned! They should look a little bit tragic, then pull just one and see if it looks ready before pulling them all. Hardneck tends to take a bit longer than softneck!
Great harvest!
Thank you!! I can’t wait to make some yummy things with it!
Ouuu, im so excited! I love your harvest videos🧡🧡
Thank you so much!! ❤
Fantastic. Love your garden.
Thank you so much!!
Love blackberries!
I don’t see how people don’t like them!!
Hi Meg!! Where in NC are you?? I'm trying so hard to learn how and what to garden and when here in NC. I love to become better. I can't wait to pull my garlic. I bought them from Eric's company. Your excitement and smile are that of a true gardener. All i need now are chickens. 😊
Hi!! Thank you for the kind words. I’m in the Charlotte area. I hope your garlic harvest is great!
@@meggrowsplants Oh cool! I just moved from Charlotte back in 2022 to Bessemer City. I do deeply miss the garden I left behind but I love the weather we have with the bit of extra elevation. I grew hardneck this last year and it did well.
Kevin!😂
oooo try sweet potatoes in the old potato place?!
Good idea, I think I may do that instead of corn!
I’ve seen many of your videos (shorts) and I came to bing your like full videos but I was surprised how few videos you have. I was hoping to watch videos about how you made your garden (I live in NC as well and this red clay soil is killing me lol) and hoped for individual videos on different veggies that grow best this area and just tips and tricks for gardening since I love chaos gardening AND you’re near me but the video titles aren’t really like… pulling me in lol. It seems more like vlog videos. Imma check them out though, hope for some good info! I know you have a life and making and editing videos takes so much time and effort so I’m not dissing at all! I just really enjoy watching and listening to you and hope you can do more videos soon!
Thank you for this comment! I have been mostly a short form creator for the past few years and have really been trying to ramp up long form and UA-cam recently. Working with epic has helped me hone in on how to create more valuable long form videos, so you can expect many more from me this summer as I start to focus more on UA-cam 💚 I am trying to make more to-the-point educational videos as well as vlog style (since that’s my favorite to create), but I’m still very much trying to find my groove and what makes me happiest to create. Thank you for your input! 💚
Hi Meg, love your videos! How do you know when your garlic is ready? I’m up in New England so I don’t think mine is there yet.
You’ll know when it starts to die back about 3/4 of the way is the sweet spot! And after it’s been about 9 months. We plant on Halloween and I always harvest in June here in NC zone 8a!
Do you pressure can your soups at all? Will we see a Meg Cans Food video? 👀
Hi Meg. Loving your videos! Can you share where your black arbor/trellis is from in the background here?
Haiii ....indonesia hadir dan menyimak selalu. Salam dari indonesia ❤
Fellow soup lover here 🫶🙌
Love to find my people 💚 also thank you for watching to the end!!
Stinking VOLES have been taking my potatoes and sweet potatoes out 1 whole plant at a time. More than half my patch is gone now. I planted backups in 20gal fabric pots away from the others.
Ugh, I’ve never had to deal with voles thankfully but I’ve heard they’re the WORST! The grow bags are a good idea
@@meggrowsplants YES!! This is the first year we're having to deal with those punks. Just about every other day, I go out and see a whole plant above ground left without a body underground. At first I thought it was cutworms. But then I dug and found a hole tunneled right under the last one. 🫠. Thankful I had backups tho. HalleluYAH. 🤗
If your potato plant has blight on it, is it okay to compost?
No, I’ll be burning the leaves just in case! Don’t want to compost anything diseased.
❤️from INDIA❤️
How do you like to use turnips? I have some massive guys to harvest 🙃🫠
