What a wonderful train ride. Had the opportunity to ride it in 1971 while on a train tour with my mother in 1971. I'll never forget the sunset we were able to see from our train as we traveled along the seashore enroute from Venice to Nice. Absolutely stunning to experience as a young adult.
I had my honeymoon in Monaco and have returned a few times since, if I recall correctly my first visit to Monaco the station was outdoors, now it is in a tunnel. I recognised the Nice station and the railway bridge over the road!
I have to say, I noticed some busy trains as well. However the frequency is great and the indicator at the platform, what part will be where is very helpful as well, so you can spread out over the platform.
I was there in 1987, staying in Menton youth hostel, and was surprised to be told that one took the train, not the bus to Monte Carlo because train was cheaper ad mroe frequent. Back then, they had coaches with compartments, so was very weird for me being fro North America, but the ride was so short that I never actually sat because I was always i corridor looking at the view of ocean. I also took a TGV from St Raphael to Paris , it was the Nice-marseilles-Lyon-Paris with, at the time, only Lyon-Paris being high speed. But I had been so surprised at the use of the trains that came from Italy as mere local commuter trains to get to Monte Carlo or Nice.
Nice video and beautiful journey indeed! What I really find sad is that there’s no long distance trains running Marseille-Nice-Torino-Milano or Marseille-Nice-Genoa-Pisa-Florence…
Thank you and I totally agree. If even some TGV inoui trains would continue to Ventimiglia, it would be great. Thello used to have a service on this route, actually I have a video on this, I recorded that in early 2020 however Thello has suspended the services due to covid. Somehow I’ve heard some stories that Iryo wants to launch a service between Barcelona and Milan, but I don’t know what’s true about that.
@ yes, that’s true! Heard that as well. At least they are considering that. But as long as neither high speed gap Perpignan-Montpellier and Marseille-Nice-border-(hopefully continuing Italy side) HSL have not been built this will be a slowish connection. The alternative is once the Lyon-Turin tunnel is open which is quite the deviation to the north but might turn out to be the quickest after all as long as no HSL is built east side of Marseille on the French and Italian side…
Why ALWAYS Dutch people comment my English? What is it? And no comments on a nice way, no on a really rude way. One more comment like this and you’re blocked from the channel. Saying something like “why don’t you educate yourself” is not friendly and that’s the least I could say.
@@Trainviking 😅1. "Why ALWAYS Dutch people comment my English?". Echt waar? Eerst en vooral: waarom noem je me Nederlander? Ben je gefrustreerd over je eigen landgenoten?... Ik spreek de taal van Vondel, dat klopt, maar voor de rest ben ik zelf geen Kaaskop. 2. Wat de rest betreft: "One more comment like this and you’re blocked from the channel". Ha ha, doe het maar. Het kan me geen moer schelen! 😚

A scenic pleasant regional train ride indeed! I understand these trains can get busy with passengers during working hours of the weekdays.

Agree, it is surprising there is nothing linking down to Genoa & beyond.
Beat music while you are speaking: annoying
Nice music during the actual trip: very pleasant.
He, Kaaskop, why don't you educate yourself about the pronunciation of "Monaco" and "Ventimiglia"?
Why ALWAYS Dutch people comment my English? What is it?
