    I thought the HNCS photos were pleasing but based on your edits perhaps 1/3 of a stop underexposed to what you prefer. Do you feel the HNCS shots were relatively true to the scene with perhaps a bit more saturation in the greens? I’m really looking at the X2D and the GFX 100II but I’ve seen some comparisons that have blown me away with the difference in color rendition to the Hasselblad’s favor. The GFX lens lineup and the ability to adapt my Leica glass with a standard shutter is appealing and is what it has over the Hasselblad IMO. I need you to do a GFX vs X2D comparison next Jimmy!

      Well I do find Hasselblad suppress highlight a bit by default and tend to underexpose the scene (maybe trying to preserve highlight details). I am currently waiting for the gfx100s ii to be available (sold my gfx50s). Like I said in the video, if you don’t mind sit down and do the post, gfx is much better option right now given the lens line-up and auto focus performance.

      @@JimmyChengYup, I thought that you intentionally underexposed by 1/3-1/2 stop by your edits also for the reason you stated Hassy does. Very pleasing to the eye. Too bad about the lens shortage. Hassy say why the shortage exist?

      @@thomastuorto9929 not exactly sure. They don’t mass produce like bigger brands for sure but they should know better now after 2-3 years since X2D launch what the demand looks like.

      @@JimmyCheng Agree. Nikon was like that but seem to be getting better at it with every new release. Hope Hassy catches up for it’s customers.

    Your Lightroom work makes nice exposure and highlight corrections, and your color is very similar to the 'Blad JPG. I've had all three X1D, X1DII, and now X2D. I use the 35-75 zoom a lot, and all other XCD lenses I have are great. Image stabilization is fantastic. Many friends use Fuji GFX. I vastly prefer Hasselblad color. I use Leica SL and M too (had an S system). I think 'Blad color is better.

    Nice video, I'm always happy to see anything X2D related.
    I sometimes use photoshops "auto color" just to see. But then go right back to how it was. X2D is the best camera on the market imo.

    Awesome video Jimmy. I use the HNCS for my product shots and it's really helped streamline my work.

      Hi Alex, may I ask how accurate is the HNCS for product photography. Have you compared to GFX100? In particular test shots of the colour chart.

  • @kitminlee9169
    @kitminlee9169 2 місяці тому

    Hi Jimmy, thanks for the video. Was curious why you didn't carry out all edits within Hasselblad Phocus (full version not the Mobile)? I think for a more scientific control, I would like to see photos under strobe lighting of a colour chart with grey card and 16 bit TIFF of the Calibrite ColorChecker Digital SG. This has way more colours than the 24 from the passport. Product photographers who need precise reproduction of colours independent of the eye would need this. 8% of males are colour blind ! I also not sure what people can tell from photos embedded in a UA-cam video except relativity between two sets of photos.

    The x2d is just so amazing...my favorite color science of the whole market by far.

    I'm sorry to say that but in a way every edited shot looked "cheaper" to me, I just loved the HNCS look!

    Great neutral review, thank you. Indeed very personal and I think the Hasselblad is overrated, it's a nice camera but I can easily achieve the same with other cameras without the costs. As you said, shortage of lenses is a serious consideration in this system.

    • @JimmyCheng
      @JimmyCheng  3 місяці тому

      yeah It's sad that the new lenses ain't really available for most out there. The camera has its forte, but I just think most users would benefit more form Fuji's lens system and focus performance.

    Many channel compare the medium format camera, so the Hasselblad is the unique nearly true natural color.

    One other comment, the X2D electronic shutter has slow readout, the XCD and newer 'Blad lenses with internal shutters work perfectly. The electronic shutter doesn't work well with other lenses that do not have a shutter. There is no focalplane shutter in the X-D series bodies. Also, some of your shots have vignetting, and I've never experienced it with the XCD lenses.

    • @JimmyCheng

      Those were shot with the 35 APO. It’s ok to shoot static or slow moving object with e shutter. But I did experience severe rolling shutter effect.

    I have been jumping between Hasselblad and Fuji medium format cameras. Funny enough, I liked the HNSC more but sooc but people I showed the JPGs liked Fujis more saturated ones a lot better 😅

    • @JimmyCheng
      @JimmyCheng  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I don't find the HNCS eye catching or anything it's just very neutral, with a tonality that does not "wow" you. It's almost like drinking water versus pops.

      @@JimmyCheng definitely. 👍 I agree. Mostly what I prefer on the X2D is the ergonomics and the size of the lenses. But also the camera did get scratchers quickly. The Fujis keep up a lot better but do not wow me (except for the xpro series). Still both systems are amazing and it I would spend more time in post and also would use flash, I would continue with the Hasselblad.
