In this video I demonstrate 12 different Funk variations on Congas you can try in a simple pocket Drum pattern... Congas are notoriously known to only stick to Latin rhythms, but it's a very versatile instrument that can actually be used on so many genres and add an enormous amount of flavor and feel.
I hope y'all enjoy this one. Tell me what you think...

Bravo, good groove!
Excellent. A great example of how you can take a simple rhythm, make slight changes, and make it sound so much different. But, you the master, make it look sooo easy. It's those little things :)
Brian Roscoe haha Thank you!

Great Eric. Love your variety of rhythms. You're such a pro. Could you make a video demonstrating the muffle tone and where and how you would place them in both 4/4 and 6/8 rhythms.? Thanks for sharing. God Bless.

Whoaaaaa!!! Caliente mi hermano! Bendiciones 🙌🏽
Eric / that was nice / once I get that groove it’s hard for me to veer off for fear of messing up & not coming back in at the right time/ & then I feel the worst u can do is stop. So , that said / haven’t even got a drum yet & I have learned so much / my wife says I’m tapping & moving my hands in my sleep. Thanks WILLY CA 🥁😎🥁🦅🏍⚒☠️⚡️🌎🇺🇸🏥🦠🏥🌹😎
That's so dope. want to have a breakdown of every pattern:D
Hi Eric !
Could you explain each pattern please in a next video ? I like these funk patterns !!
From France !
Patrick HENRY hey Patrick... is there one in particular? I have taught maybe 4 out of the 12 already...
@@APercussionLife Hello Eric ! Excuse my english . I do what i can . And i don't speak spanish . Just a bit italian . Un poco !
Do you know in which(?) videos i could find these 4 funk patterns ? I only know one of your videos with a funk pattern ... In fact i'd like you to explain each pattern . But if i have to choose , maybe the 3th , 4th and 10th . I'm gonna try to see what you do on each pattern . I listen to a lot of funk music and dance music . I like to find patterns i don't know in these tracks and try to play percussions during the music . It makes me feel happy ! I own three congas LP Galaxy . Gorgeous !! I like your videos . The last i worked was Guaguanco Matanzas on 3 congas . Great ! Go on Eric ! I need your videos !
Funky
Groovi!very nice number 6
That was dope
Muy bien ejecutado
I will try playing these patterns with the popular drum loop from The Soul Searchers "Ashley's Roachclip".
Thanks for those precious tips. One question did you study with Panga?
Just what my soul needed : D
Smooth!
Brutal, hermano. Felicitaciones.
Wonderful video man! Which microphones do you use to recording?
Haha...yes! YYYYESSSS!
10 is my favorite jam. Oh and 11... and 12! Oh poopy! I should've just waited till the end of the video to start typing 🤣
c C hahaha love it!!!
killing itttt
F'ing Dope! ☝🏾❤
Groovy man groooovy
man puedes subir un video de cada ejercicio y variacion que estas ejecutando en este video?
Hi Eric ,
I try to play these patterns . The most difficult is to see what you do with your left hand :
Palm - fingers , ghost note etc ...
Is it possible to ask you to break down 1 and 2? It would be very kind and helpful! Best wishes Lena
excelente !
Gracias!!!
@@APercussionLife : Tengo 54 años y te sigo cada semana , eres de lo mejor que he visto en clases de percusión. gracias por compartir tus conocimientos .
oscarverdin gracias por el comentario hermano! Un abrazo fuerte!
bruh you are fire
Most enjoyable! Looks like you were having a good time too. Did you intend to play all these grooves or were some of them spontaneous?
Dave Argall haha I was!! And ALL patterns were intentional... how I was transitioning on some were spontaneous, but somewhat planned haha
do you have the notes for these grooves? I can kinda play along you, by just listening, but especially for your tips its hard to hear all you're doing. especially with number10. This shit completely blows my brain. Madness o.O
🔥
Hola maestro. Where can I find this music to play along?
YES ***
singing congas in a funk haze
Hi I have Meinl 30 Anniversary Edition my Question how do I position and set up my drums which drum goes where can you help me. Thank you.
This is tasty!!
Question. I come from a drumset and rudimental marching background and play conga with various bands, but never with a Latin band (just because there's none around my area). I know a basic tumbao, and that's about it when it comes to traditional patterns. I've made up some patterns using slap, heel, tip, doubles etc and sometimes incorporate rudiments. I have this weird feeling like what I'm playing isn't "real" conga. Are made up patterns legitimate in the eyes of the masters? Does it matter? side note: I'm not from Latin America and didn't grow up listening to Latin music so I'm learning from an outsider's perspective traveling backward to the root if that makes sense. Anyways, been watching you for a while and enjoy your vids man!
Hi Eric !
I don't see the difference bteween the pattern 5 and 7 . Is there a difference ?
Yes if you listen to the placement and timing of the main Tumba hits... there are similarities but the placement changes the feel
A Percussion Life Thanks a lot Eric.
I really like that video. I play now patterns 7 to 12. I saw you made a video with 12 tumbao patterns. How do you know all these patterns ?
Did you create them or did you ear them ?
I hope you ´ll make videos for a long time yet.
You are my teacher !
sabroso Erick podes compartir las guias en pdf gracias y que siga el Funkeoooo conguero
Dónde puedo conseguir eso cueros de congas asi
Qué bien, hermano! Me gusto in monton! I could see you liked it too. I reckon you could have gone on for another 12! Mucho respeto desde Inglaterra!
