@@DesertRatFabrication No they were solid. I don’t know how these old guys did it but they used the feeler gage while the engine ran. I’ve tried it but I do it like you.

Hey Tony, my Baja had hydraulic cam so it has been a long time since I had to pull the feeler gauges out
@@DesertRatFabrication I didn’t know you could use a hydraulic cam in a vw. Is that original on that model?
No the case I had was cut for hydraulic cam and lifters

Will this work for Chevy 235 with 848 head?
My dad who was a mechanic adjusted the valves with the engine running. Old school I guess.

@@donaldappelhof2059 I definitely believe it’s possible because unlike the air cooled VW the lifters on the 53 are adjusted when there hot
