I think it was around 2016, I rode my 1200 bandit from Cornwall to Montpellier to visit my daughter ;who I love very much , I encountered this piece of legendary road en-route I can't even begin to describe the elation of exiting that tunnel 6.34 , the weather was exactly the same...blue sky and sunshine...give me a better reason to be alive....

Great video. I've driven the A75 Autoroute myself, across the Millau Viaduct, then south and onto Carcassonne. I must say, that it's, undoubtedly, one of the most scenic motorways I've ever driven on. It's reasonably quick, too, driving from the town of Millau to Carcassonne in 1 hour and 33 minutes, cruising between 140 to 150 km/h. I love it.
I even did a few videos of the Millau Viaduct on my channel. It's an awesome structure. ..

Just come across this excellent series of video guides to the best motorway route to drive to the south of France which, apart from Millau viaduct, is free ! I was first recommended this route in the late 1980s as an alternative to the awful A6/A7 Rhone Valley motorway. It was a better bet even back then despite no motorway south of the Le Puy junction south of Clermont FerrandIn those days, you had to follow the RN9 alongside the Allier river at Issoire, the Alagnon Gorge to Massiac, through St Flour, zig-zag back and forth underneath the Garabit viaduct, through St Chely d'Apcher. Marvejols and Millau and the original single track Pas de l'Escalette gorge at the head of the valley (now superseded by the Escalette tunnel) and onto the narrow windy road down the valley side to Lodeve. As mentioned in the commentary the A75 has replaced the RN9 and in some places this is quite literally as its built on top of it. Bits that are left - the Alagnon Gorge, St Flour and the Garabit viauct, the Marvejols area and the descent/ascent into and out of Millau, are still worth travelling if you have the time.

I hope to drive the old N9 segments one time. They are reportedly scenic and devoid of any traffic. I've only driven the N9 segments near Millau and south of Pézenas before A75 was completed there. Farther south, the former N9 is still a decent toll-free route from Narbonne to near the Spanish border.

après avoir vu plein de vidéos d'autres pays, je conclus que les autoroutes françaises sont superbes. En même temps vu ce qu'on paye pour les utiliser, elles peuvent.

Thank you for this and other reminders of the beautiful A75. We stopped driving it when we sold up in the Aude in 2017. We often did the Escalette stretch in weather like we see in your video, but all too often the temperature had dropped and the cloud had built up by the time we got to our exit on the A61!

The French Autoroute system in France has zero cracks and potholes on its roads. I could be wrong. As with any system of roadways in European countries, pavement on autoroutes in France are clean, well kept and maintain. I think the tolls have something to do with how nice the roads are. I can't understand why the British call the autoroutes in France motorways. They are called the French autoroutes or in French ''Francais Autoroutes.'' And I can't understand foreigners who come from bad countries wanna live in the USA. One told me this,
Peter nguyen: ''I don't understand with people live in USA won't appreciate with anything they have from there country. If you are not happy, move to China.
New Manchester, I'm a U.S. citizen. I'm thankful for being here. I wasn''t born back there. I do know how life are different. Everywhere have bad and good people. If you are so hateful where you are now. Just go back to communist country to see how many people want to be in USA.
As I look at countries like France, who cares about their people by taking good care of them, they are not awful countries that treat their people badly. The United States treat their people very, very badly. Poor quality of life, a low life expectancy, no freedom of the press, no freedom of assembly, zero universal healthcare coverage, no social freedoms, people work all the time, no work-life balance, no unions, no paid vacation time by law, the worst education system in the world, crumbling infrastructure, the military-industrial complex, the prison-industrial complex, people living in poverty, homeless people living on the streets/freeway overpasses (Passages superieurs d'autoroute) in big cities and a very low minimum wage. Plus, Americans are all about violence, too violent, undereducated and over policed. I'm aware of good people and bad people in sane civilized countries like France, but they don't have the problems that America has. And being a person from another country living in America, and ignoring the problems the countries has, is unacceptable. How can people from other countries who live in the USA, who are brainwashed by ignorant insular Americans who talk about freedom all the time, and dumb Americans think America is the greatest country in the world? And why foreigners don't wanna live in countries like France that have the things that the USA doesn't have? Maybe they are greedy, selfish and want it all. Or maybe they want to live in America and don't care about the problems and just wanna get out of their horrible terrible countries. Anyway, love the video of the A75. A Brit told me A75 is an autoroute free of tolls. It was toll autoroute like the autoroutes in France, but failed. The French government remove the tolls.
    As French president said,
Make our planet great again. VIVE LA FRANCE.
    Merci.

Great video! The scenery reminds me of western Colorado or Wyoming. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't cover the last 40 km or so of the A75 Autoroute. However, I could see the landscape becoming rather boring really quickly after the A750 interchange, so I understand your decision.

Do this road trip every year to st pierre. Apart from the traffic jams in 40 degrees it's a beautiful and brilliant run down to the south and atm it's free apart from the viaduct.

Took this road by accident following my car Nav 😮, drove from Valencia to Amsterdam and instead of heading to Lyon I drove the a75 in the middle of the night trough heavy wind, rain and fog. Would have enjoyed the scenery by daylight but can’t say it was a pleasant drive in those circumstances

Pas de l'Escalette had been the main gateway to the Languedoc for many years, but the autoroute era seemed to have left it behind -and today A75 has restored its glory. Nice job!

    • @candyneige6609
      @candyneige6609 4 роки тому

But the glory dosen't last for long as it is the source of many road deaths, in fact, there was so many deaths that the A75 was nichnamed "The road of death" (in French: "_La route de la mort_"), which explains why there are plans to build a bridge to replace the dangerous _pas de l'escalette_.

European Roads, you might want to know that the original of your song is DJ Melodie's Sky falls down. I think Armin van Buuren's remix of this song is not good, it kind of uses the original in a way I don't like. The original also has much, much less views, even though I think it is actually much better. It's a very good song I think. Maybe if you find some time you can try it out.
