Veterinary medicine has come so far. Years ago they would have just said “put him down”. Now, at least they’re able to reach a diagnosis by exclusion.
It's wonderful how far it's come. Imagine putting down this poor little boy. That would be devastating to lose your puppy like that.
What do you mean years ago , vets to this day still would say " just put him down " / recommend euthanasia depending on the extent of the diagnosis / likely outcome
@wendyclark3260 of course, it wouldn't be right if they didn't have it as a suggestion. But these owners just weren't going to do that even if it was recommended and I think it's great that they can do so much if a person is willing to pay the bill. I'm sure if they believed that no matter what treatment you did that the animal would have a poor quality of life then they would be advocating for that for the animal.
@cheeririnaldo435 I think it's also a bit of a problem because people think that this is actually expected of them when their pet becomes sick, that they must spend money they don't have for expensive treatments because they think are a bad owner if they don't. They don't have to do that, there's absolutely nothing wrong with euthanasia when the animal needs treatment that you either cannot or do not want to pay for. It doesn't make you a bad owner at all. Mostly when it's not on TV and your animal is sick it's easy to chat with your vet and work out what the best choice is without judgement from them. Well my cockatoos vet is like this, he's only ever been sick once but they were very careful to make sure that I knew what the bill currently was before I opted to do any more treatment and how much it would be if I did that treatment. It wasn't cheap but it was exactly what I was expecting to pay, it was not second mortgage type money, it was a few thousand and those treatments saved his life which is what I wanted as he was only a baby at the time and would have a long and happy life ahead of him if we got him through.
The fact that they drove 600 km, tells how skilled the vets are
Poor buddy. The thing that always gets me is that animals are so brave. For him to be showing visible signs of pain like that, the pain must be excruciating for him.
Can understand how they feel because those dogs are beautiful stunning animals
Shame poor dog good Lisa was able to help it fully recover that crying tells he is feeling so hurt
Ok, I was in tears but so happy for this splendid wrap up.
Hallalujah from Texas!
Gotta love a German Shepherd. So happy for his recovery.
oh He recovered cỏngatulations Teo
I think his owners are so happy.
To hear him whimpering in pain tore me up inside. I wanted to cuddle and try to comfort him.
Thank goodness it was something that didn't require surgery.
Poor Tayo! Such a sweet pup, not to mention cute. I hope he heals up quickly
Tayo breaks my heart hearing him cry.
600 Km 😮 that is love ❤
Bless him glad everything turned out well. ❤
I love his ears
These vets are so amazing!
I went through this with my shepherd I thought he had fallen off the drop off near the one part of my yard some how because he was really limping and in pain… turns out it was something called “pano” they said it’s like growing pains but for dogs and that he had to be on pain meds antibiotics and bed rest poor fella we did low impact training like commands and scent training to keep him engaged and everything but he still got so bored by the end of his bed rest that he tore up his whole mattress so I figured if he’s comfortable enough to destroy a crib size mattress he should be able to play a short game of fetch 😅 he’s since grown out of it and is a beautiful full grown adult ❤
Sweet baby, so glad he will be ok.❤❤
They travelled over 600km, that's like over 300 miles. I wonder if their normal vet told them they couldn't help them.
this is what I'm wondering too.. like why did they have to drive 300 miles to get him to an animal hospital?
Poor puppy hope he lives a long pain free life xx
Bons veterinários maxima dedicação ❤❤
I really love BONDI Vet but Vet on the Hill is my all time favorite!
Thank you so much dr. Bondi😇🥰❤😠🐾😊🐶🐕
Beautiful dogs, im so glad for him its always upsetting when i lil floof buddy is poorly, but thanks to the vets he is up and away ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing vet doctor 👨⚕️!
Poor baby. Tao is absolutely beautiful though. I just hated seeing him in that much pain
What a great out come!
Keep us posted.
this episode is several years old....
There is nothing worse than the cry of a dog. 🥺
i think the Dr's and nurses at SASH are amazing! My only question is ... was there no vet that could have seen him sooner/closer? surely there are places that can perform exrays etc in the community? maybe they just wanted him to be seen by the best!
I love this channel ❤❤❤😊
Poor baby 😢
Early! And thanks for doing the work that you do :)
❤🐕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️😘 Волшебный доктор! Помог хвостику! Пожалуйста,сделайте русский перевод ,под комментариями?) Москва смотрит и любит Вас ❤🇷🇺✌️
Unfortunately it's very expensive
Why does the description say Tao is an "elderly" dog when he's a puppy?
My title starts with puppy, not elderly, maybe they changed it already.
@@marymccaffrey8458Read the actual description. The word "elderly" is still in there. It's not in the title. Title & description are not the same things. The description is in the grey box of text below the title.
@@DrachenGothik666you're correct... the word elderly is still in the description
You are wrong the title says puppy not elderly dog. In the title it says puppy's excruciating pain is a mystery for vets. It never said elderly dog you must need glasses
@@daniellewoolley8607 we are talking about the small letters underneath the larger bold letters...the large bold letters has the word puppy in it however underneath those words it says elderly dog (that's the description not the title) smh
Looks just like my Max.
😢 I don’t want to watch just from the first couple seconds it is making me sad
Same
It's just a mangy cur 😂
Guess I am weird, first thing I would do is give it a mild pain kilelr for its own benefit I know that will hinder my exam a bit but it is in serious pain
Criss had a similar thing happen to is pup Betty after playing in the park
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wish we had vets like you guys but we don't not in the way you guys treat animals of any kind. I live in Pasadena Texas yes I have a vet but I wonder about him my vet. How can I fix my girl sombra?
Well the puppy’s neck was very sore and that’s why they suspected meningitis!
🙏😢🙏😢🙏
Meningitis without a fever and lethargy?
I'm sorry, but a lumbar puncture for meningitis was unnecessary. This dog had zero symptoms of infection. There was no sinus congestion, no fever, no discharge, no ear issues. You had the info you needed. He was playing with another dog and suffered an injury. Lumbar puncture should be less flip and used for infection suspicion, not injury suspicion.
Neck pain is a symptom of meningitis.
@@GoBlueGirl78 Only one sympton which is not enough to do a lumbar puncture.
@@Katiedid1985 There was more than one symptom: he was not walking properly & had severe pain in his neck. Not all meningitis is infectious.
But not after it was shown to be ONLY after playing.@@GoBlueGirl78
Because of the pain, airhead, that's why he wasn't walking right. So again ONE symptom isn't enough. And "not walking right" is NOT a symptom of meningitis. Apparently not everyone has functioning brain matter either. @@GoBlueGirl78
If the puppy was perfectly fine and was not after the rough play then I would say he was as injured and not spinal meningitis. Give away was he was in extreme pain right after and gradually was less but still painful. Poor baby. Some steroids to reduce swelling and inflammation. And pain meds
That doesn't fix a problem with the spine. Both you and the "vet" sound like amateurs.
This poor pup. It is wearing a collar. Did his leash get yanked and damage that part of the neck?
Alive girl 09
Thought they would have given poor puppy pain relief sooner
Sometimes with certain conditions it makes it worse. Because, with pain meds they'll become more active and move more, and if it's a spinal injury the animal could accidentally make it worse because they have little pain signals. That is why in cases where trauma isn't apparent they will wait for a diagnosis.
Did you miss the part when it's said they made a long trip to arrive there?
@@AccidentallyOnPurpose thank u
I don't like collars for dogs. They should not use a collar on this pup. ALWAYS use a halter so the pressure from them pulling on a leash is spread across the chest not just pulling 100% on the neck .
Depends on your position if you use a harness then it’s less pressure on the dogs neck but you have also got less control of the dog, if they get into a fight I would prefer a collar because of the control it gives me but I also understand that this is a puppy and it does need a firm but not rough hand so it could be trained with a harness but I also see that because it is going to turn into such a big dog there is a need for control.
@@gizzmowallissHarnesses also really encourage pulling. And that’s not a good idea with big dogs (which he’s going to grow into).
Also it’s very easy to chew out of. My brother owned a husky and insisted on having a harness for him. He chewed out of every one.
@@SaraNightfire1 i always had collars for my big dogs but when I got little dogs I insisted on harness if they did not slip out of them they chewed them so I went back to collars never had a problem with them.
Totally agree
Harness is a good thing for young pups. They are fragile, even big and giant breeds. Keeping them in harnesses (can be specialized harness for control if they are pullers) on walks and runs for the rest of their lives is also good. The fit of a harness, is also important. They should be snug but not tight, and should never chafe the front armpits at the back side.
And he walked out of the clinic with a collar on???? I would think a harness would be more appropriate considering his injury.
he’s not from a breeder is he?
Love the progamme for the most part but cannot abide female vet's voice. Like chalk on a blackbboard.
You have to be kidding. All you can do is complain about the voice of a person
@@paulagrant1073 It's significant when it is so frequent that it has people switching off. I stand by my opinion. Goodbye.
