its kind of significant, alot of genres and famous bands came here, like freddie was a symbol of not just old fashion rock, but all music. pretty cool huh? if i could go 2 one concert it would have been this 1
YES THIS IS HOW A FUCKING BASS SHOULD SOUND LIKE. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK YES. I was seriously just amazed at Jason's bass and how great it sounds. This is easily my favorite version of Sandman to date.
I had a mate on the Mercury gig who said a lot of the bands were not happy with the sound; Metallica's crew were setting up the'Tallica kit at another gig and all bands were using generic sound kit. Metallica (and other bands) had to use more kit to get 'their' sound as the generic kit sounded 'tinny'.
The Jason Newsted (scientific name: newstedus metalicus) is a one of a kind transmutation of the Metalhead. It is known for it's pure agressiveness and intense headbanging when on stage. Do not approach when it is rocking out. You could get hurt by a flying bass or a hair whip.
@kirkhassan you would need an esp explorer (not made anymore, law suit), a mesa boogie mk iv head slaved into a marshall jcm 800, a vintage celestion cabinet, which would then be mic'd by an akg 414, then broadcasted over those speakers, then recorded by the cameras.... i would love papa het's cleans, but that sound gets so warped, its not even worth trying
Funny that it actually isn't a Metallica crowd but a Queen crowd. :) But yeah, you're right, the crowd is pretty awesome and so is the song. Sandman isn't my favorite, but the way they play it here is pretty awesome.
wel it was kind of ovious for four reasons 1: Metallica is the name (Ron Govney out) 2: Enter Sandman (Cliff Burton RIP) 3:He lays with a pick( is Jason Newsted) 4: he definitively isn't Robert trujillo
@coltsuperocean10 Freddie was no thankless like you, he would be proud of Metallica even if he didn´t like their music, that band is there on stage paying tribute to their greatest inspiration, some respect would be appreciated.
Not for nothing but this wasn't at the Freddie Murcury tribute concert. Looks more like Live Aid. There are none of the Freddie banners or look alikes in the first rows, and the three other members of Queen were all on stage through the entire Tribute to Freddie event
@kostismv True But Jason Got To Be Cliff's Replacement I Believe James Said That He Had The Energy Or Something That Metallica Needed To Continue The Band. He Got Hazed And Had It Hard,But Still He Kicked Ass On Bass!
me and my mates went that day £25 for a ticket 'tallica and the gunners were worth the entrance fee alone Spinal tap were the cherry on the cake! and Leeds beat Coventry that day to nearly become English champions!
I wish I could've seen them live at this point in their careers.
240p we meet again... :P excellent performance!
Oh yeah so nice 240p again, it's been a while.
***** its 2015 goddamnit! 240p should be gone
Dineontitan I know I meant it as a joke.
Good Jason. He made the stage more alive.
This was the crowed, this was the music, this was the generation i grew up to. fuck I hate today's music
Man if you look hard enough you can find good music trust me
remember the day like it was yesterday, a great way to open it. This tune was huge at the time.
Best "Enter Sandman" live-version !
i was in front of my TV seeing this : imagine ! this was my first years of MetallicA.
i was 12 when this happened and I still love Metallica damn it.
I remember this DAY !! , i was such a big fan !
I saw it on TV when I was 15 and I still remember!! the best time of Metallica!!
been looking for this for a llllllllllllooooooooooooooonnnnnnggggggggggg time played it last week, cheers
This is the Metallica machine, fine-tuned right here. Tight, solid music. Performances like this will stand the test of time, period.
That was insanely accurate and GREAT, sir. Thank you.
Sublime performance. Unforgettable
AWSOME!!! metallica's #1, and always will be :)
that just took me back 20 years time flys so fast where did it go
An awesome tribute for an awesome artist from an awesome band. Also, awesome "hairography" to go with the headbanging. Loved every bit of it.
I sat and watched this at home, live on TV, having only just gotten into metallica.
Quite an occasion.
This was the song that made me like Metallica.
"sleep with one eye open
gripping your pillow tight
Exit, light
Enter, Night
Take my hand
we're off to never-never land "
-my favorite part =)
awesome song, awesome band, awesome stadium, tribute to an awesome SINGER, what else do we need??:D
I was there. This was superb as was much of the rest of the gig. CHEERS !!
The Monsters of Rock, and they were there for Freddie. I doesn't get any bigger or any badder than Metallica, and here they are.

i always watched and loved this tribute for the Guns N' roses performance
They r AWESOME live
this is WHY I love metal
I simply love the way how energetic Metallica is here.
Especially Jason :D
jason como te extrañamos le dabas a metallica el toque metalero y serio , metallica sin ti es una basura
josealbertovenezuela
De acuerdo contigo, solo discrepo en lo de basura.!!!
its kind of significant, alot of genres and famous bands came here, like freddie was a symbol of not just old fashion rock, but all music. pretty cool huh?

YES THIS IS HOW A FUCKING BASS SHOULD SOUND LIKE.
FUUUUUUUUUUUCK YES.
I was seriously just amazed at Jason's bass and how great it sounds.
This is easily my favorite version of Sandman to date.

Amazing all over! Nailed it =)
I had a mate on the Mercury gig who said a lot of the bands were not happy with the sound; Metallica's crew were setting up the'Tallica kit at another gig and all bands were using generic sound kit. Metallica (and other bands) had to use more kit to get 'their' sound as the generic kit sounded 'tinny'.
LONG LIVE FREDDIE!
YOU SAID IT MAN AWESOME SONGG
i love that thundering bass line. they need more of that in their upcoming album
they need to have a concert like this for cliff burton, jimi hendrix, bon scott, dimebag darrel, and keith moon
AWESOME!!!
Jason Has So Much Energy Live.
He Kept Metallica Alive After Cliff Passed Away.
Trujillo Needs To Step It Up lol
:D
are these performances (I mean guns n roses, metallica, etc) before the main performance of queen, is this on some record, dvd? or

James and Freddie, Best ever frontmen BAR NONE!!!!!
i wish i was around to see the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert
Man, what happened to music!
Back then, Metallica and Queen rocked our socks. Now we have fall out boy and Jonas Brothers.>8(
did this tribute start in the afternoon and carry on into the night?? SAVV!
this is NOT a tribute to Freddie... but this is awesome concert:D
This is the Best Metallica ERA!!
Freddie Mercury was born in THE ISLAND ZANZIBAR,TANZANIA.HIS PARENTS ARE PARSIS FROM INDIA.
Freddie surely heard this song - metallica released black album on 13, August 91. Freddie could hear this one...its possible
As a drummer, I didn't think Lars was all that good, he changed my mind here.
it's the best chritmas song
@matija191 i agree, its just that theres no way you can compare cliff, jason, and rob.
there all outstanding bass players, enough said.
:D
You guys confused Kirk and Freddie.
Kirk is half Filipino and Half Irish.
Freddie was from Zanzibar and was a Parsi.
absolutely, altought they have played it several hundred times
yes they opened and they fucking rocked the fucking place
metallica the best band ever
EPIC.!
Funny that it actually isn't a Metallica crowd but a Queen crowd. :) But yeah, you're right, the crowd is pretty awesome and so is the song. Sandman isn't my favorite, but the way they play it here is pretty awesome.
THIS IS a a tribute concert to freddie and awesome conert ya! =)
tnkx to all 4 your comments =)
@TURBIACONCIENCIA Podes comprarte la Kramer Assault FR series, es parecida a la de kirk a un precio rasonable.
Cliff died in '87. Jason joined shortly after.
great
Jason is just really awesome ... metallica need him ... :s
Does it matter here? I think they are both great, and there is no reason to say Metallica is worse if they are giving a tribute to a music legend.
The crowd is really amazing, considering they're Queen fans.
wel it was kind of ovious for four reasons 1: Metallica is the name (Ron Govney out)
2: Enter Sandman (Cliff Burton RIP)
3:He lays with a pick( is Jason Newsted)
4: he definitively isn't Robert trujillo

fukn kick arse song!!! one of metallicas best.
@KingVerdo check out Nothing else matters from Nimes, there looks like Jack Sparrow too
nothings like metallica baby
this is their best song live, no fucking doubt about it!
no this is the second bassist . cliff burton is the first one
@mikesgtrs1 I seen that when it was still in theater
@kostismv True But Jason Got To Be Cliff's Replacement I Believe James Said That He Had The Energy Or Something That Metallica Needed To Continue The Band.
He Got Hazed And Had It Hard,But Still He Kicked Ass On Bass!
R.I.P Fredie Mercury

@2CHRAPKO
What does NAPSTER mean???
me and my mates went that day £25 for a ticket 'tallica and the gunners were worth the entrance fee alone Spinal tap were the cherry on the cake! and Leeds beat Coventry that day to nearly become English champions!
it was really great.
btw funny banana in there:P
@XmegallicaX I hope they had good workman's comp when Jason was in the band. :P
ive just noticed soemthing. does this song not sound liek a tribute to freddy kruegr of nightmare on elm street?
I'm pretty sure Cliff and Freddie were looking down smiling :)
did they open the whole show with this???
seems like a strange choice of artist and song for a freddy mercury tribute!
still great though
true that
@kostismv ,,,,well,I didnt say I wouldnt see them again!!!!.....
Well... I havn't deleted it from my email yet, so.. I reckon you meant it for me.
