2023 Porsche 911 Dakar (992) UK Review | PistonHeads

- The Dakar breaks new ground for the Porsche 911; never before has the legendary sports car been offered in such off-road focused form from the factory. Just 2,500 will be made, 250 are coming to the UK, and you don’t have to have the livery - phew.
But where to test such a thing? The Dakar clearly not a track-focused 911, though neither is it - really - a dedicated off-road vehicle, despite approach and departure angles that can rival a Cayenne. Enter Lydden Hill, Britain’s best-known rallycross track and location of the world’s first rallycross race in 1967. Won, you’ve guessed it, by a Porsche 911. Driven by Vic Elford, no less.
So the Kent circuit was the ideal place to drive the Dakar, testing its prowess on the tarmac and in the mud. And in the freezing rain, it turned out. Is there real off-road ability to the rally raid 911? Or is it simply a case of style over substance? Over to Matt to find out.

I love this resurgence of Rally Cars (Mind you, Off-Roaders that aren't SUVs) we have had lately! GR Yaris, 911 Dakar, Huracán Sterrato, it's great!
It suddenly looks like the GT3 , a car that I have lusted after most of life , has suddenly been relegated to the number 2 position . Who wouldn’t want a car that looks like the lovechild of a new Carrera and Datsun 1600 rally car . And you don’t have to choose the Front - Axle lift option , sensational.
A true dream car here in New England. So glad it exists!
New England Australia?

Presumably the only 911 Dakar that gets in contact with mud.
Depends if you back off mid-corner with stability control off or not… 😅
Congratulations Porsche!
The best supercar for India and the Philippines, you never have to worry about speed bumps and floods anymore
Im getting the 953 sticker pack... Love it. Call me a Poser... I'm good with that.
So much money to buy that porsche
This car is so cute ❤❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😍😀😀😀😀😀😀💕💕💕💕💕💕🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😎😎😎😎😎😎👌👌👌👌👌👌
What's ridiculous about it? It makes so much more sense than a super car or hyper car that is a pointless, over powered street car and will never be tracked because of their staggering cost so are really just for status signaling. Those cars are ridiculous, this car makes perfect sense.
Soooooo... When's Porsche doing the Dakar again.... In a... Dakar?!?!?!
The stripes must be a generation thing. I love them because they are retro 👍🏻
Sorry, but, you are very, VERY wrong about the rothams, err, I mean, 'rough roads' paint job, it's incredible and will without a doubt be worth it come resale.
What you want this car in a normal color....... definitely get the stupid stickers
not sure the dirt track counts as 'off road' .. just sayin
It's rallycross circuit so you have a perfect mix or dirt and tarmac which is an ideal mix up for this car.
Can that cage be removed?
Nothing an angle grinder wouldn't sort out
Why would you? The fact you even ask, suggests you'd never have to find out, as, it's not a car you'd ever buy.
@@Monk-Darlington It looks like there are back seats in leather so it seems like a reasonable question to me.
@@user-io4sr7vg1v of it goes in, it can come out, with difficulty akin to all roll cages, however, you would never want to, it woukd ruin the look and no one fits in the back of a 911.
If you can afford this thing, you can afford an extra car should you have need.
@@Monk-Darlingtonwhat colour is your 911 Dakar?
Sorry - found that hard to watch. Journalists comments did not add any value. Distracted if anything...
Hardly a review was it. Drive a car for a short time on a track, basic overview maybe.
