With the Mirtone pull stations it wants you to use a very big thick Flat head screw driver but if you use a thin flat head screw driver it is very easy to reset.
Hey S.E.R It's been a bit since I've watched you just wanted to say thanks for making my childhood better I use to watch you years ago in early videos when I was a kid I'm pretty sure in 2017 your content is still really good I have found other hobbies a few years ago but I'm still chill with fire alarms as somewhat a hobby so yeah hope you enjoy Ur day and thanks for the fun memories.
Nice video and cool set up on your fire alarm system! Fire-Lite, Notifier, all from Honeywell and I think that Honeywell makes great products. As far as the smoke detector goes...I think that you're right. The sensitivity on your ionization smoke detector is slipping. And, it is older too. This video right here brings it home why ionization smoke detectors are actually illegal in many jurisdictions to be installed on commercial fire alarm systems. This video proves why. Ionization smoke detectors use a small amount of uranium as a dielectric property to detect smoke. That uranium is going to lose its radioactive properties over time and render the smoke detector useless. This video right here proves why that many licensed fire alarm installation contractors are not allowed to install ionization smoke detectors and ionization smoke detectors for fire alarm systems were discontinued in 2008. This is why. Home owners can still buy and install battery operated household ionization smoke alarms but licensed contractors cannot legally install ionization on fire systems and ionization for fire systems cannot even be bought from the manufacturer anymore, with good reason. I have my own alarm system and it came with a smoke detector. System Sensor 1400. Well, in 2008, I started looking for more sensors and it lit up on the website that ionization smoke detectors were being recalled and that if ionization smoke detectors were installed on any residential alarm system that the alarm dealer needed to be contacted for replacement. I can prove that ionization smoke detectors are unreliable with science...the uranium material loses its radioactive properties over time. With time, the radioactive material gets distorted and messed up, the radioactive uranium inside the ionization smoke detector gets damaged over time, ultimately leading to failure of the smoke detector. This is why I always like to use photoelectric smoke detectors that ensure that I can sleep at night. Ionization smoke detectors often do fail to alarm. This is how I think, not 100 percent, but I think this is how I lost a school friend in a house fire. So, I have a personal story that proves this. I had a school friend who passed away due to a house fire when I was in middle school. Her smoke alarm never went off, just like what happened in this video. I like to use photoelectric smoke detectors that gives me fire protection that I can safely sleep at night. Yes, ionization smoke detectors failing to alarm when they need to, I am able to scientifically explain why it happens because I explained it with science. I have a story that backs it up, and I have even seen it happen first hand. I tried to set off my older ionization smoke detector, I forget the model number, with a fog machine that is used for Halloween and it never went off. That's why I don't trust ionization smoke detectors.
My bank has a very similar system, they use Wheelock MT alarms as a notification appliance, they use the same pull stations, they use the same annunciator and I'm guessing they may have the panic button. Only differences being that they do use the Gentex Commander 3 alarms there, except they are the weather proof alarm version, and they are outside. Also, instead of a Wheelock Bell as the other notification appliance, they use Spectralert Classics.
Well then the system has not been installed properly. Every sprinkler system should be connected to a system by a flow switch. If there is none, nothing happens.
I noticed throughout the video that the ionization smoke detector red light that was supposed to blink every now and then was not even working. Did you make sure it was communicating with the panel? If yes, then it does need to be replaced
While making the video, I pulled the detector head off to ensure it was wired correctly-- it was. In the past, I've noticed the light on that model usually doesn't blink. It's probably just getting old. Time to replace it!
I like the "Slow whoop" as you called it for the fire alarms. I worked in maintenance at a school that had at least in every hall and key locations. No bells. When they sounded off, they made that sound but the sound was not uniform, and it sounded more ominous and it echoed too. I've been obsessed with that sound ever since and have been wanting to make my smoke detectors in my home set off horns like that. But I never got that far. Unfortunately I had to move so my fire alarms aren't even interconnected anymore and the one closest to the kitchen has no battery because it becomes alarmed every time someone cooks. Nothing burning, and sometimes nothing even in the oven, and it becomes alarmed. Awesome video. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, Grant! 2 quick questions… can I use a Simplex TrueAlert on a Fire-Lite panel or will it kill it? And where can I find a cheap ANN-80? I simply can’t afford to spend $270+ right now.
That’s awesome, especially the bell strobe. However, onee thing I dislike about those types of pull stations is that if someone who didn’t know about pull stations pulled that, they’d probably think they broke it. I’m really nitpicky about pull stations not having a way to show that it’s activated lol. Great video nonetheless!
@@VOLTRONDEFENDER4440 True. I don't have the Mirtone I just came up with a hypothetical situation. I also don't think anyone would go through the trouble of printing labels lol
The tone on the Wheelock MTS-1575 is similar to the tones used on the Klaxon VPR sounder from the UK! I know this because I own one! Apparently, the tone used on my sounder is called the Dutch tone or something? Sounds exactly like the one being used on the Wheelock! Honestly, it's pretty interesting. I love the tone on the commander, though! Absolutely beautiful to hear!
Yea this community been around since maybe UA-cam started I found a fire alarm video a few years ago I was like there so loud why would anyone make a video about them but I quickly found entertainment in it

May i ask something
What if a sprinkler activates and there isnt any flow sensor?
Well then the system has not been installed properly. Every sprinkler system should be connected to a system by a flow switch. If there is none, nothing happens.
Another thing if it goes off and if u see it activated pull a fire alarm pull station right away!🙂

You could print a label and stick it inside the pull station!

The Gentex commander three sounds the same as system test nine
Can you put “SONIC SPEED” on your ADT’s LCD for the next system test? Thanks.
I’m sorry but I don’t think you could do that and even though he has a private system he could still get in trouble for that
I hate sonic fanboys. Nintendo is better
Can you convert an FCI MS 2 into a simplex t bar?
