The "eep" reminded me of the one time I've heard a grown adult man make a similar sound (my ex step-dad). Him and my mom was doing some work, and found what they thought was a big earthworm in the compost, so.... what does he do? Picks it up of course (wearing gardening/work gloves). But.... worms don't have eyes 👀 Me being the "animal expert" of the three of us, was still sleeping (crazy adults, getting up at 6am on a Saturday), so he knocks on my door asking me to "hurry". So super sleepy me just opens the door, looks at what he's holding, and just goes "Awww...." Edit because I had to find the English name for the critter 😂 "Awww, a slow worm! So cute!!" It was literally looking up from his gloved hand, just chilling (imagine how you hold the handle of a cup, that's pretty much how he held it). As in Swedish it's called a "kopparödla" (literal translation: copper lizard) but sometimes wrongly called a "kopparorm" (lit: copper snake), and those two are very scared of snakes, he more or less begged me to "just take it". I asked him for a second, because I wanted a photo. The slow worm was just chilling, like they do, but I guess it shifted slightly, because that's where his "eep" came, and he dropped the poor little thing 😢 Thankfully, it was alright (I checked), and then I scolded my step-dad for what he did. His response? "But it moved! 😢" My response? "So would you if a giant creature picked you up." Then I took my little friend, carefully, and let him go in the forest ❤
Gives off concerned dad vibes and I'm here for it. All I can really imagine is this being a "you're my friend now, we're making soft tacos later!" Situation and I love it.
One could only hope that any being that finds you in your most vulnerable, injured position would be this caring towards you! I have a soft spot for eldritch creatures or monsters having a tender reaction towards humans. 🥺
